MARKET SNAPSHOT SARASOTA COUNT Y TOPS THE CHART IN MAY 201 8 Sarasota County leads the pack as the Fastest Growing Luxury Market in the country according to the Realtor.com Luxury Home Index as of March 2018. According to the statistics, the average price of the Top 5% of sales in Sarasota County was $993,000—up 19% year over year.
Does this mean your home went up by 19% last year? Probably not. I have summarized the results of five different market segments below for your reference. As you can see in almost all cases, we have seen a slight uptick in average prices. The super luxury market at $4,000,000 plus is the exception. In addition, although we started the year out strongly in the super luxury market, the number of transactions in this price range has actually decreased from year to year. A similar trend occurred in The Oaks and in the $1,000,000 to $2,000,000 price range. Although these statistics provide good benchmarks for the market, it is important to keep in mind that there are many variables such as single-family home vs. condo, geographic area, lot characteristics, age, updating, etc. that have a material impact on value. Only with a detailed comparative market analysis can one really understand the value of a property. Scooter Gennett, Sarasota Gennett played his high school baseball at Sarasota High School and was drafted by the Brewers in 2009. The Cincinnati Reds claimed the second baseman off waivers in 2017. On June 6th, 2017, Gennett hit four, yes four, home runs against the St. Louis Cardinals. In 2018, he made the NL All-Star team as a reserve. In the bottom of the ninth with the NL down 5-3, the Sarasota native hit a two-run pinch-hit, game-tying home run.
Caitlin Lynch, St. Stephens Both the Sarasota Crew and the Sarasota Sharks churn out college athletes in their respective sports. A recent success story is Caitlin Lynch.
Richie James Jr., Riverview The Riverview alumnus attended Middle Tennessee State as a wide receiver, where in 2016 he was 4th in the FBS with 1,625 receiving yards. James was drafted in the seventh round by the 49ers in 2018, and most notably, electrified Levi’s Stadium when he returned a kickoff against the Seahawks on December 16, 2018.
Karan Higdon, Riverview The Riverview Ram just finished his Michigan Wolverine career. In 2018, he became the first Michigan running back to break 1,000 yards since Fitzgerald Toussaint in 2011.
She is a freshman rower at Dartmouth College. The now ivy leaguer won seven regional titles before college according to her Dartmouth bio.
Marlon Mack, Booker The feature back for the Indianapolis Colts got his start at Booker High School. The standout went to the University of South Florida (USF) and ran for over 1,000 yards in each of his three seasons in Tampa.
