Our Social Mission -

To support scientific research and development in communities

-

To encourage diversity and recognize connection between various fields of science

-

To understand the process of innovation and the impact that it has on communities

4-3-2-1 Our focus was to fulfill our social mission within our community using four key categories to guide our work.

Advocacy

Service

Networking

Learning

Advocacy -

Researching and signing petitions for students’ rights in schools

-

Petitions for school lunch debts and funding were the focus for our advocacy

Service To exemplify our social mission, we collaborated with mission team 21, whose focus is hunger and nutrition. Together we planned and executed a tupperware drive. All donations will be given to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona. We would like to thank everyone who participated in this event!

Networking

Learning

We will be having a collaborative discussion with mission team 21 on April 10th.

In the aforementioned upcoming discussion with mission team 21, we will also be having a segment dedicated to teaching each other and learning about our respective social missions and work in the community.

For networking, we will be sharing helpful resume and interview tips, exchanging LinkedIn information, and having a group discussion on how we can open the door to new networking opportunities.

The learning portion of our discussion will allow each team member to speak about what they are passionate about, and expand their own knowledge.

How we further understand and exemplify our social mission Tejas Dalvi

Sophyia Haynes

“I believe innovation is

“A way that I help in the

extremely important to our society because it solves modern problems for communities that are underprivileged and underrepresented. By advocating and raising money for STEM programs it helps inspire a new generation to take charge and help the world in the future.”

Nathan Jayanthan “In order to give back to the community, I have focused on helping students of all kinds. As a TA for my computer science class I help students grasp material and become better learners. I always make sure students understand and are interested in their work. Apart from working with engineering students in ASU, I tutor elementary students one on one with subjects like math, science and reading. My goal is to help students of all age to enhance their learning experience and have a foundation to pursue their science related goals and dreams.”

community is by volunteering with Students Providing Awareness Resources & Knowledge to Start College (SPARKS). In my work with SPARKS, I give college readiness presentations and student panels to K-12 students throughout the valley. As a first generation college student I have found this to be a very rewarding way to exemplify our team’s social mission. ”
