ANDREA HARRISON
Andrea Gasso (formerly Harrison), a national champion and two-time All-American at UCLA, is in her second year as a volunteer assistant coach at Oklahoma. She joins the Sooners after spending the 2015 season in a similar role at Michigan State. A four-year letterwinner and starter at first base and left field, Gasso was a sophomore on the Bruins’ 2010 National Championship squad, at two-time All-American pick, and a three-time All-West Region selection. The hard-hitting, sharp-fielding Gasso was named to the Women’s College World Series All-Tournament team, was a three-time All-Pac-10 selection (as well as a 2009 All-Freshman team pick), and helped UCLA to an overall record of 167-61 over her four seasons. She set a Women’s College World Series record with 11 RBI in the Bruins’ championship season, and a year later, led UCLA in batting average (.409), home runs (15), RBI (52), total bases (126), hits (67), slugging percentage (.768) and
on-base percentage (.512). She was also a sure-handed fielder, with a total of nine errors over her four collegiate seasons and just three combined in her two All-American seasons. Since her graduation, she spent the following two seasons as a coach at the high school level in Oklahoma, serving as the head coach at Norman High School in 2014 after a season as an assistant Southmoore High School. She was a special education teacher at both schools as well. The Garden Grove, Calif., native earned her degree in history from UCLA in 2012. She married current OU assistant coach JT Gasso in December of 2015 and the couple had its first child, Joseph, in October of 2016.
