The University of Oklahoma plays its first intercollegiate softball contest. The home team downed Oklahoma Baptist, 3-1.
Oklahoma hosted the final AIAW Softball Championship in Norman.
MARCH 8, 1984 APRIL 9, 1975 Oklahoma recorded its first intercollegiate softball win over archrival Oklahoma State as the Cowgirls began their intercollegiate season one year earlier. Since 1975, the two teams are almost dead even in the series with the Sooners holding a 67-66 advantage. Oklahoma has won 15 straight in the Bedlam series.
The Sooners open the final season of the Marita Hynes era with wins over Mesa Community College (4-1) and New Mexico Highlands (3-2 [9]).

MARCH 23, 1976
The Sooners close out a 58-15 campaign with a 4-1 win over Providence at the NCAA Regional in Stillwater. It marked Jim Beitia’s lone season as head coach and was the first of what is now 16 consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament.
Oklahoma plays its latest recorded spring opener. The Sooners fell 13-8 to Central Oklahoma and 16-6 to USAO in Norman.
OCTOBER 24, 1994 Oklahoma names Patty Gasso the fifth head coach in the program’s history.
MARCH 27, 1977 The Sooners drop Wichita State 7-2 in Wichita. It was the first road win for head coach Marita Hynes against a non-Oklahoma school.

The Sooners win eight straight to secure a winning season during Marita Hynes’ second year at the helm of the OU program.
Sooner pitcher Brea Moore strikes out an OU individual single game record 18 batters in Oklahoma’s win over Iowa State.

In what has become one of softball’s most intense rivalries, Oklahoma split a doubleheader with Arizona in what becomes the first contests between the two schools. Arizona took the opening game 4-3, while OU bounced back to win the second, 4-3.
Casey Dickson becomes the first Oklahoma player to be named Big 12 Player of the Week.
The Sooners win six straight en route to Oklahoma’s first 50-plus win season.
MARCH 30, 1996 Oklahoma gets its first Big 12 conference win — a 5-2 victory at home over Iowa State.
APRIL 7, 1979 Oklahoma and Texas Woman’s University battle in the longest game in OU softball history. TWU won 1-0 in 20 innings. The tournament final started in Springfield, Mo. and was completed later that day in Norman.

Oklahoma defeats Stephen F. Austin 4-3 in 15 innings at Reaves Park, the longest home game in OU history.
Sooner pitcher Jill Most throws the first perfect game in Oklahoma softball history. OU defeated No. 24 Baylor 3-0 in Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma tops Saint Mary’s (Calif.) 15-0 in its first competitive fall contest. Teams counted wins in both the fall and spring seasons from 1979 until the fall of 1981.
Oklahoma defeats top-ranked Arizona, 4-3 in Tucson. It was the Sooners’ first-ever win over the nation’s No. 1 team.
