Fanatics For the past decade, Oklahoma has remained a mainstay in the top 20 in national per game home attendance average. After placing 12th in 2003-04 and 2004-05, OU set a program best by moving up to eighth in 2005-06, then smashed it by finishing fourth in the NCAA in 2006-07 and then third in 2007-08. The Sooners’ most impressive stat line occurred during the 2000-01 season when they witnessed a 51 percent attendance increase from the 1999-00 season. OU went from playing in front of 2,659 fans to entertaining 6,606 fans per game. The Sooners concluded the year ranked 13th in the nation in total attendance and 12th in per game attendance.

The Sooners’ game is a hot ticket on the road as well. A visit by Oklahoma raised its opponent’s attendance by 40 percent or more over its home average for the past three seasons. OU is just a part of the regional picture. The Big 12 Conference has led the nation in attendance for 12 straight years. The Big 12 Conference is the only league to draw a million fans in a season, which it has done six times (2002, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011).
