What is the physician assistant Pathway program?

Bay Path University is one of only a handful of institutions that offers this type of program. Start your PAthway to success at Bay Path University.

• Bay Path University will accept 30 full-time, first-time undergraduate students into our rigorous Physician Assistant PAthway Program.

• In your fourth year, upon meeting the program acceptance guidelines, you have the potential to secure your future as a Physician Assistant as Bay Path will offer the top 10 members of your cohort, who meet the acceptance criteria, a spot in our MS in Physician Assistant Studies.

Admissions Requirements

The comprehensive evaluation of first-year applicants includes, but is not limited to, Grade Point Average (GPA), standardized test scores (SAT/ACT), rank in class, letters of recommendation, personal essay, and review of high school transcripts. Students must demonstrate knowledge of the profession. It is expected that all successful first-year applicants will have a record of academic performance that clearly demonstrates strong math and science preparation.

Most successful applicants have:

• SAT score >1170

• GPA > 90%

• Four natural science courses

• Three math courses through pre-calculus

Upon acceptance to the University, students must pass all seventy-three (73) credits of the science and math requirements with a grade of “B” or better and core liberal studies curriculum courses with a grade of “C” or better with an overall grade point average of 3.00 each semester. A total of two course repeats allowed and students must meet published academic requirements to be eligible to matriculate in the MS in Physician Assistant Studies.

Should a student not meet the minimum requirements of the Physician Assistant PAthway Program, it may be recommended that the student transition to a traditional science program.

Victoria described her internship as a “once in a lifetime experience.” She had the opportunity to experience three different settings: the central office, parole and a correctional facility. During her work in the parole office, Victoria witnessed first-hand the challenges people face when re-entering the community. Part of her role was to ensure proper living conditions and provide people with clothing and food vouchers when their basic needs where not met. Victoria also worked with the job center which provides an ongoing two-week program for inmates preparing to be released from prison. The Center provides resume assistance, interview tips and job search techniques.

What does the faculty have to say about Bay Path?

Dr. Ellen Rustico, EdD Chair of Education Programs and Teacher Licensure

“I think the students at Bay Path make us who we are, they want to make change, they want to make some kind of improvement with the profession they are choosing.”

Genevieve Condon, MS Psychology

“I have a very personal approach as far as interacting with my students. I’m a fulltime faculty member, I get to see many students through all of their four years.”

Joshua Weiss, PhD School of Science and Management

“What I find most special about this place is it is so entrepreneurial. It’s so innovative in the approach to education. So in general, what ends up happening is students come in and feel a certain amount of freedom here that you don’t find at a lot of other academic institutions. As a faculty member I am encouraged to try new things, to do different things, and see what happens. I think that’s what makes for the best kind of learning.”
