By highway, Guaymas is connected through the International Highway Mex. 15, to the North, (280 miles to Nogales USA border line) across the border, with the entire network of US federal highways (I-19 and I-10) in the United States, and to the South, along the entire Mexican Pacific coast, with the state of Sinaloa and central Mexico (Mex15).

The highways that connect Guaymas-San Carlos with eastern Mexico, are the mountain routes from Hermosillo to the city of Chihuahua or the Imuris-Cananea-Janos road which is frecuently travelled by residents of Chihuahua, Cd. Juarez and the states of New Mexico and Texas to get to the sea.
