FEAR AND NEGATIVE ENERGIES

egative energy may be energy that is detrimental in some way, especially spiritually, it holds heavy on your spirit. Fear can also be visualized as a form of negative energy it is an unpleasant feeling or emotion that is aroused in a person in response to perceived physical or emotional threat. However some fears are real, real danger that we should respond to, but most fears are considered as false evidence appearing real, the fears that were instilled in us when we were children, even children’s stories that we were read, most were filled with detrimental endings, beliefs systems that we have picked up, some forms of anxiety which is also fear built up, etc. All forms of energy, whether positive or negative, which affect a person’s life is as a result of their day-to-day thoughts, actions, and contact with other human beings and day-to-day experiences. The actions of these energies on a person ultimately determine the level of their spiritual, psychological and physiological well-being. Negative energies degrade the quality of a person’s life and, not surprisingly, fear plays a big role in the quality of life that a person is living. Despite the fact that it is a natural survival instinct in all living creatures and may be regarded as beneficial in some instances, when fear is not controlled, it’s degenerative effects can easily be observed in the activities and conduct of a person. Life is full of experiences, and we must rise above them, learn and grow. Every person undergoes a necessary period of spiritual transformation at certain points in life during which they need to have a deep level of trust in the Divine in order to pull through, but an attitude of fear can often forget to trust. Fear and other negative energies such as lack of trust in the Divine can keep a person’s mind and consciousness closed, making it hard for them to commit to following their Divine will; they can slow down the flow of energy from the higher spiritual realms and therefore stop their spiritual and physical progress or the entire process of spiritual transformation. Fear and negative energies bring about radical changes in a person’s psyche and can even progress to severe psychic illness. Courage, trust and belief are very necessary for a person to develop and are directly related to personal capacity and ability, and cannot exist where there is uncontrolled fear. The development of spiritual strength is a basic factor behind human advancement and progress. A person may be talented; a person may be full of ideas; a person may be capable of attaining to great heights spiritually and otherwise, but if they fail to dispel fear and other negative energies from their mind and consciousness, if they fail to build up courage and use their will power, they may be unable to make any progress on the path to greatness and total well-being and even become frozen, only existing, living a life that is not alive. practice of this virtue, and the person who is unable to subdue and control fear naturally gives in to doubts, uncertainties and indecision. When a person is dominated by fear, they are unable to develop or practice spiritual faith; they become demoralized, they easily consider themselves insecure and abandoned and they fail to rely on God’s infinite power. Fear and negative energies immobilize all the elements of success and decrease a person’s level of mental and physical activity. Whenever a person is in such a state of lethargy, weakness, indecision, etc., they become incapable of developing themselves for greater expression; they give way to despair, self-pity, hypocrisy and insecurity. It is never surprising when such a person fails to develop their potentials and explore life’s unlimited possibilities. From a health perspective, the effects of fear can become a health alert. A sense of well-being is the base upon which a person’s health system stands; our thoughts give commandments and become reality. When left unattended, fear and other negative energies affect the ability of the immune system to function well. This in turn gives rise to greater mental, physical and emotional problems, and ultimately sickness or even death may result. The negative effects of irrational fear and other negative energies on a person cannot be overstated. Pay attention to your surroundings, the people that you associate with, the shows you watch and books you read. All of it either is a positive environment or negative, it will show up in your life in one way or another. How do you feel when you enter and leave a place? If you feel worse than when you walked in, pay attention to energies that you have picked up and make adjustments for the future. Energy attaches to us. Practice clearing and cleansing often, that includes yourself and your environment. The items that you have in your home also have energy, pick them up and pay attention to how it feels, be aware of the energy that comes in to your home. It is said that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself. A person that has become a mental slave to fear and other negative emotions will have more challenges in overcoming life’s hardships, the focus must be changed, in order to live a fulfilled life and attain your goals in life. It is important for a person to subdue fear and other negative energies and develop a strong and self-reliant spirit. lthough breast cancer is a scary reality for some women, most women will not die from breast cancer. And, improved treatment options have significantly reduced the death rate in women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. However, it is vital that all women take steps to maintain breast health to lower their chances of developing breast cancer. The American Institute of Cancer Research reports that 70,000 cases of breast cancer per year (40 percent) could be prevented with lifestyle measures. Here are some of the best ways to preserve lifelong breast health and reduce your risk of developing breast cancer. • Don’t smoke. Twenty-five to 30 percent of all cancer-related deaths are due to tobacco, and the risk of invasive breast cancer is highest in women who began smoking at a young age. If you currently smoke, talk to your doctor about effective smoking cessation programs. • Maintain a healthy weight, especially after menopause. Excess weight increases estrogen (a hormone) and affects other growth factors. Hormones create a more stimulating environment for cancer cells to grow. • Eat primarily whole foods: whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean protein and low-fat dairy. Limit alcohol and sugar consumption (sugar feeds cancer cells). • Move more. Women who exercise regularly have lower risks for breast cancer. If you have a daughter, encourage her to be physically active. Regular physical activity in adolescence may be protective against breast cancer. • Get enough sleep. Sleep metabolizes stress hormones. • Limit hormonal therapy (if needed) and use for the shortest possible time. • Avoid unnecessary X-rays. • Research suggests that early pregnancy and breastfeeding may reduce your risk of breast cancer. • Get screened. Aside from lifestyle changes, the most important action a woman can take is to follow early detection guidelines. Breast cancer can be more effectively treated when caught in the earlier stages. Releasing Your Illusions (also known as fear and negative energy)
ur fears and negative energies block positive energy that is needed to effectively feel joy and happiness. Fears and negative energy also block whatever one would like to manifest. I like to call these negative energies “dragons”. “Dragons” are those doubts, negative thoughts, feelings of low self-worth, self-sabotage, lack of focus, overwhelm and other less-than-positive emotions that rob us of the positive energy we need to manifest effectively. As in any fairy tale,” dragons” are illusions. The truth is that feeling good and living in prosperity and abundance are our birthright. It is what the Universe intends for us. All we need to do is get out of our own way.
It is helpful to know what triggers our “dragons” and develop strategies to fight them off when they rear their fiery heads. So what triggers your “dragons”?
HOW “DRAGONS” TERRORIZE US
Negative experiences, memories, thoughts, and feelings carry energy. Oftentimes that energy remains in the body. I call this trauma energy. These negative energy “dragons” rear their ugly heads in the form of health

Many times these “dragons” are difficult to identify. The good news is that the body can release energy as well as retain it. This includes trauma energy. Negative feelings are nothing but resistance to a positive feeling or joy. It is as simple as that. When you resent something or someone—you perceive it as a purposeful action against you. If you boil down any negative feeling – whether it be emotional or even a physical malady—it is simply a resistance to your highest good. So therefore determining what you are resisting is the pathway to positive outcome. For example, if you are fearful from lack of money, you are resisting abundance because you lack faith and/or worthiness. Those who concentrate on their lack or worry about money is what they are focusing on. Therefore, they bring more of that lack to them. Wealthy people expect wealth. They expect to get good deals on things, things to be given to them, money to flow. If you feel worthy, good things come.
WHAT DO I NEED?
When you feel resistance, you need to stop and ask yourself, “What do I need?” What “feeling” do you need? For instance, if you are feeling anxiety, you want to feel calm. Anxiety is about not knowing what is next, fear of the future. Therefore, creating a plan for your future helps to resolve anxiety. A shortterm plan, such as the action steps towards your goal, creates calm. These action steps should be easy, quick and short term. The blocks resulting from anxiety are released by creating the calm of an action plan. Once you identify the core of the issue, you can take steps to release what is blocking the flow of what you desire. Release is a choice. FEAR is a sign of self-rejection, impatience, impulsiveness, envy, jealousy, inadequacy, and over-sensitivity. INSECURITY is a sign of procrastination, worry, indecisiveness, and dependence. ANGER is a sign of resentment, blaming, intolerance, demanding, manipulation, and rationalization. GUILT is a sign of justification, alibiing, rejection, dependence, manipulation, and dishonesty. REFRAME! STEP 1: A quick way to change negative energy to positive is to literally reframe it. On a piece of paper, draw a simple frame and then a sketch of yourself inside it. doodles that represent whatever you feel is negative regarding your situation, your feelings, etc. These can be teardrops, lightning bolts or whatever else you can think of that represents your situation and the feelings you have about that situation. How do you feel about this picture? Switch your internal dialog with self and ask yourself: what positive change has come out of this? Instead of focusing on the negative, come up with blessings, benefits and/or advantages that came as a result of having gone through that situation. There is always another perception. EXAMPLE: Opposites If you feel anger…………forgiveness, & acceptance Fear…………………........happy & calm Unworthy……………..…confident & self esteem STEP 2: Draw a second frame and fill that frame with doodles that represent those blessings, benefits or advantages. Such as a happy smile on your face, open hands as you are receiving want you want, a big red heart that signifies you are open to your heart’s desires. Print your switch word in your newly designed picture of your life. Refer to this drawing often either literally or within your mind any time you feel negative feelings creeping in. This is when you repeat your switch word to yourself as a reminder. In time you just may discover that that negative experience becomes—for you—a positive one. “Be careful what you water your dreams with. If you water with fear you will grow weeds. You must do the work to clear the negative vibrational energies and the lowest vibration called fear, which blocks the connection between your physical self and higher self. What do you FEAR?

hat are you afraid of? What do you fear? There are many of us who have a fear of spiders, snakes or clowns. There are others who fear failure, success or disappointing someone important to them. Fear can be a very personal thing and when we let it control our lives it can cause us to feel anxious, feel the need to control everyone and everything, and it can demolish our perception of the world, as well as our perceptions of ourselves. Maybe you’ve heard that fear stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. And that acronym was a very handy thing to remember back in the days when fear was my mentor. Back in the days when instead of a panic attack, or an anxiety attack, I had grand-mal seizures as a response to overwhelming stress. The funny thing was, my neurologist told my family that my seizures were psychosomatic, or that they were all in my head. Which really frustrated me at the time. How could something that was all in my head, have such a powerful hold over the way my body functioned?! How could something that was a in my head, cause such a reaction to stress? Didn’t everyone have stress like this? What I didn’t know at the time was that there is a powerful mind-body connection and our thoughts really do have a HUGE impact on our health, our relationships and every aspect of our lives. It wasn’t until I lost my license because they thought I would have a seizure behind the wheel of a car if I drove, that I had finally said enough was enough. We all have a moment that tips the scales for us, and that was my moment. I started spending every waking hour learning about the mind-body connection, I learned relaxation techniques and even went on to get a doctorate in natural health with a specialization in stress and the mind/body connection. What I learned basically comes down to this, we can either live our lives from a place of Fear, or we can live our lives

from a place of Love. Love is the balm for fear. Love helps us see the positive intentions behind our fears. Love give us the power and the strength to move beyond our perceived limitations. Breath & Life: Multiple Methods and Effects Breath is life and through breath work, it is possible to change one’s state of being on multiple levels.
he effects of breathing start at the cellular level with the blood hemoglobin, and its oxygen. Most think that oxygen is the primary reason for changes, however, it is the amount of CO2 (carbon dioxide) present in the system. At higher blood levels, carbon dioxide forms carbonic acid, creating an acid reaction (acid pH) in the bloodstream. This causes a lower blood pH (acid) and vasodilation, thus the blood vessels enlarge, including the bronchial system. There is a relaxation effect - beneficial for those with allergies and sinus issues. A lower amount of carbon dioxide increases the blood to a higher pH (alkaline), with oxygen levels maximizing and vasoconstriction occurring. The effect is an increase in energy which is beneficial for those with chronic fatigue, low energy, or immune problems. The blood pH affects the nervous (autonomic) system. There are two aspects of the nervous system: the sympathetic (fight or flight response) and the parasympathetic (relaxation oriented). When creating a higher acidity, vasodilation occurs and relaxation is the result (parasympathetic). By inducing a higher pH (alkalinity) there is an energetic stimulation (sympathetic). How does one create a relaxation and other effects through breathing? Various techniques exist but it is mostly through the number of repetitions of breaths per minute, or pausing the breath. Normal breaths per minute are 8 -12 breaths. Fast breathing is twenty or more and obviously slower, deliberate breathing may be in the range of 4-6 or less. Normal breathing is usually shallow breathing as one generally is not using all of one’s lung capacity. The nervous system exists with brain waves in the beta level of 14-30 brainwaves per sec (HZ) in which one is conscious and alert. One is involved in conscious thought, logical thinking, and it has a stimulating affect. The lungs have a lower (abdominal) and upper (chest/lungs) delineation. Most of us have learned to breathe using only the upper level. When sitting, the chest is easy to expand, while the abdominals take do 20 october 2016 • Tampa Bay Wellness
not add to the capacity of the breath. Slow breathing, 4-6 breaths or less per minute, contributes to relaxation. This is because with less oxygen intake, carbon dioxide rises with the result vasodilation (vessel expansion) takes place. With this effect, the bronchial system dilates giving relief to those with allergies, sinus issues, and apnea or other sleeping problems. Most techniques to slow the breath and breathe deeply rely on using not only the lower abdominal area, but also the chest, slowly inflating those in that order and then exhaling in the reverse. This gives a calming feeling which sedates the nervous system (parasympathetic), and leads to lowering of the brainwaves. Lowered brainwaves such as alpha (8 to 14 Hz) and theta (4 to 8 Hz) waves tend to unleash creative and healing energies. Nervousness, stress, anxiety, as well as emotional and mental problems can be either healed or calmed to the point that the body/mind can begin to resolve longstanding issues. In fact, more powerful intuition and deeper states of consciousness can be developed through slower breath work. Types of slower breath work can include (but is not limited to) yogic abdominal breathing (found in qigong and other disciplines), Buteyko, and paused breath techniques (such as the 4-7-8: one inhales (4 secs), holds (7 secs) and then releases (8 secs) ). Fast breath work in which one breathes 20 or more times per minute is stimulates the autonomic nervous system’s sympathetic (fight or flight) aspect with the result being increased strength, energy and stamina. The technique throws off carbon dioxide- thus there is a CO2 deficit with more oxygen. The effect is also accompanied by a lessening of the feeling of needing to breathe. Since blood pH increases, a significant alkaline state can occur (alkalosis). Symptoms experienced include feeling loopy, disorientation, lights, with the potential for a person to pass out. This can trigger stimulation and excitation, along with PTSD and other anxiety symptoms: bronchial episodes or asthma. It can also positively, give energy, stamina and endurance.
Faster breath work includes the Wim Hof method, Tibetan Tumo, Kundalini, free dive, and holotropic techniques. These have been touted as producing effects such as heat and energy rising. There is another technique, known as the coherent method (heart rate variability training) which will balance the body no matter the state you are in. If one is stressed, it will relax; and if one needs a boost, it will do that. Using 4-6 breaths per minute, through the nose, it engenders alertness, calmness and centering. Practiced, it helps keep the body in balancewhich means it can be an effective and actually very easy practice for the hypertensive individual. Important point to remember is that all of these affect the nervous system. Extreme utilization of some of these can cause unpleasant side effects until the nervous system has been strengthened through practice. Another important point is to realize that with some techniques, one may pass out, so imitating other pioneers in the field, may not be wise. Wim Hof has done a lot of superhuman feats using his breathing method. He claims, and has scientific proof, that he can direct his autonomic nervous system with his abilities he has developed. To illustrate the necessity of taking it slow, he starts his students laying on the floor when beginning to learn and do his technique. An Ayurveda doctor stated that pranayama (breath work) can cure all. After the aforementioned information, it is easy to see how true this is. piritual Consciousness-based practices like meditation, prayer, and ritual—in addition to their positive effect on individuals—may play a subtle, yet crucial, role in supporting change in the world. The intentional use of such practices for collective, and not merely individual, benefit can be understood as a subtle form of activism, or subtle activism. Subtle activism is a creative approach to social engagement that broadens the traditional scope of both activism and spirituality. On the one hand, subtle activism can be seen as a novel component of an integrative spirituality that aims to extend our spiritual attention to all aspects of our lives, including our participation in the social and political realm. On the other, it can be viewed as part of an integral approach to social change that seeks to address the underlying psychological and spiritual dimensions of sociopolitical transformation alongside outer actions. In straddling the worlds of spirituality and social change, subtle activ-
inspired activism, or socially engaged spirituality, as exemplified by such inspirational public figures as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne, and as articulated by contemporary scholars and teachers such as Michael Lerner, Andrew Harvey, James O’ Dea, Joanna Macy, Starhawk, David Loy, Marianne Williamson, Kurt Johnson, Matthew Fox, and Donald Rothberg. Subtle activism is distinguished by its emphasis on the potential of spiritual practice itself to constitute a subtle form of action in the sociopolitical sphere. The use of spirituality as a source of renewal for overworked activists and of inspiration for wise outer action is Spiritual vital for supporting creative and sustainable approaches to social engagement. But to limit spirituality to these roles in the context of social change work may be to reinforce the modern Cartesian divide in which mind or consciousness is seen as fundamentally distinct from—and usually subservient to—the “real”world of physical action. This
Subtle Activism is an umbrella term that describes a wide variety of spiritual or consciousness-based practices intended to support collective transformation. ism represents a bridge between the consciousness movement and the movements for peace, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Although tales of yogis, shamans, and other adepts intervening on spiritual levels for the benefit of humanity is the stuff of ancient lore, my work constitutes the first comprehensive treatment of this topic. I propose that the wider use of consciousness-based practices that focus on social or collective transformation has the potential to support a deeper integration of the positive dimensions of spirituality into modern public life, thereby enabling the public realm to become more permeable to such universal spiritual qualities as compassion, wisdom, and love. I believe that the practice of subtle activism is an especially meaningful response to the contemporary global situation, offering both a stabilizing presence to help humanity through the multifaceted global crisis that looms before us, and a means for enacting the (re-)enchanted planetary awareness that a growing number of scholars regard as the basis for an alternative human future beyond, or around, the crisis. proposal, in its strongest version, affirms the possibility that certain forms of spiritual practice might themselves subtly effect change in the social realm through the principle of non local causality. Such an approach is not intended to replace more overt or direct forms of activism, or to deny the value of socially engaged spirituality as more commonly conceived. Rather it aims to maximize the potential of a typically overlooked, but possibly crucial, dimension of support in the context of a more integrative approach to social change. These practices could include a broad range of traditional practices from the world’s major spiritual traditions (e.g., meditation, prayer, chanting,drumming, ritual, ceremony, mindful movement), various psychotherapeutic and healing modalities (e.g., trauma-release work, drama therapy), certain transformative forms of art and music, and creative syntheses of these and other similar practices. Although these practices are normally used to support individual growth, they all can be creatively adapted for the purposes of collective transformation, and thus constitute what I mean by subtle activism. sage Sri Aurobindo to have successfully wielded advanced yogic powers in psychic warfare with the Nazis from his bedroom in Pondicherry,India.• The “Magical Battle of Britain,” a project led by esoteric teacher Dion Fortune to strengthen the will of the British people during World War II through the practice of esoteric visualization techniques by a small London-based focalizing group and a wider national network.• The “Big Ben Minute,” another initiative intended to provide moral and spiritual support for the Allied war effort in World War II. The Big Ben Minute involved the daily practice by millions of people of one minute of silence during the chiming of Big Ben on BBC radio immediately before the nightly 9 p.m. news.• The series of massive peace meditations organized in Sri Lanka in the 1990s by Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne and his Sarvodaya network to help facilitate a peaceful resolution to the Sri Lankan civilwar.• The WiseUSA initiative, convened by the Gaiafield Project (an organization I helped found), which brought together dozens of socially engaged American spiritual teachers and thousands of participants for a series of online meditation and prayer events intended to support the emergence of wisdom and compassion in the context of the 2008 and 2012 US electoral processes.• The “Be The Peace” event on September 21, 2014 (the United Nationsdesignated International Day of Peace) that linked more than one thousand meditation gatherings in fifty-nine countries worldwide in shared intention to support a
shift to a planetary culture of peace. As these examples demonstrate, subtle activism can be practiced by individuals,small groups, and sometimes, in the case of mass or global meditation events, very large groups. It can be applied to all scales of social organization,from local communities to cities to nations to the whole human species or all life on Earth. It can be used to address various aspects of collective transformation, such as healing collective traumas from the past, providing support during sociopolitical crises or natural disasters in the present, or holding positive visions of a collective future. The Shamanic Miracle

was facing the greatest Shamanic challenge of my life which seemed beyond my knowledge of what might be causing a deadly illness. My patient was dying. This all took place in the year 2003. “Hello operator? I would like to place a call to Santarem, Brazil, person to person, to Chief Damiana Cavanha.” “Sir, that is in the Amazon Basin. There are no phones there,” the operator replied. “Ah, but there are: she is on a lap top, powered by a generator, and she is expecting my call.” In a few moments, the lap top answered. “Olá, este é Da- miana Cavanha.” Translation: “Hello, this is Damiana Cavanha.” “Olá, este é parente de xamã maia ‘ Balam no Estados Unidos e isto é tudo meu português, me disseram que você fala inglês?” Translation: “ Hello, this is Mayan Shaman Kin’ Balam in the United States and that is all the Portuguese I know. I am told you speak English? “She laughed. “Yes my friend, I have a Masters Degree from Harvard: my English is perfect. Why do you call?” I began my story. “I am honored to speak with you. I have a patient on her death bed. The doctors have not been able to help her. She is barely alive. Many priests have run out of her house screaming. I feel a presence I cannot identify, nor do I know how to handle it, whatever it is.” “Open your mind to me,” she spoke. “AHHHH! You are facing a full blown demon; they will devour a normal priest. What healing modality are you using?” she asked. “Basically Reiki,” I replied. “She hesitated. “Good, but not good enough. First you need back up power. Choose three of your most powerful associates, place each one at the three corners and you take the power position. You do perform exorcisms?” she inquired. “Yes, but I could not place this entity,” I said meekly. “Not many can, they hide in hundreds of places and devour the body from inside out, that is why the priests ran out, they felt the power but couldn’t identify it. Have you seen the movie ‘The Exorcist?’ she asked. “A perfect example.” Have your Reiki Masters connect with you, you connect with me and we will use Shamanic power to defeat this hell borne devil! My tribe will join us.” I called three powerful Reiki Masters I had trained, and we agreed on a day and time. We gathered outside of our client’s house and grasped hands. The black energy seemed to sense that we were coming because its negative energy reached out to the end of the driveway, creating a negative bubble around the whole house. We used Reiki Symbols to push it back, along with my Shamanic energy linked to Damiana Cavanha and her tribe. The black energy shuddered and pulled back. We walked up the driveway to the door where we entered the house. Our cli-

ent was in a totally dark bedroom barely able to move, sensitive to light and sound, and in pain that no doctor could relieve. We took her out to the main room in the house where our massage table was set up. She was only in her 40’s, but looked like she was in her 80’s. She was hunched over, unable to straighten up, emaciated and was barely able to communicate due to the intense constant pain she was in. We laid her down, and each Master took their position. We began chanting Karuna and Usui Reiki. I connected with Damiana Cavanha. All of a sudden I was on the floor on my knees! I felt as if I was shot in the heart. I grabbed the Reiki Master closest to me to pull myself up. “I call upon all the power of Shaman Damiana Cavanha, and her people, NOW! Black Spirit! Enter my energy! I enclose you in a circle of White Energy and send you home to the Fires of Hell for you to Feed and be Happy!!!” I was elevated off the floor, my body shook, my mind went blank and I was slammed to the floor! I was not unconscious, but should have been. I could not get up: two Masters helped me up to a sitting position, and I was handed a glass of water. I was shaking so bad I could not drink any; one Master held it to my lips and I sipped. Slowly I recovered, and as I looked up, our client was standing before me crying. She said, “I have not stood up straight like this in three years, and the pain is gone! I did not think I was going to live much longer. You have saved my life!!!” Since then, we have preformed hundreds of healing exorcisms, though none as dramatic as that one. The power of the universal life force coming through me and that tribe of healers in the Amazon jungle at that time was the most amazing I have ever experienced. It is proof we are the source, and the power through which the Creator’s healing energy works. The Fear Factor
Uncertainty, negativity, anxiety and fear. A toxic and condemning combination. Fear can be debilitating to say the least, couple it with negative thoughts and you’ve served yourself a recipe for calamity. By Michelle Caporale
id you know that 85%of the things we fear never happen? “Five hundred years ago, Michel de Montaigne said: My life has been filled with terrible misfortune; most of which never happened. Now there’s a study that proves it. This study looked into how many of our imagined calamities never materialize. In this study, subjects were asked to write down their worries over an extended period of time and then identify which of their imagined misfortunes did not actually happen”. This leaves us with 15% of people that did experience negative encounters. Statistics show that some 79% of subjects discovered either they could handle the difficulty better than expected, or the difficulty taught them a lesson worth learning. This means that 97 % of what you worry over is not much more than a fearful mind punishing you with exaggerations and misperceptions. “A fearful mind will open the door for a negative soul”. – M. Caporale Montaigne’s quote has made many people chuckle for centuries. Worrying, being negative and living in fear is no joke. A worried mind is constant on the brain, and chronic fear and stress will generate nothing but those stress hormones. Ever hear the expression; “Stress is a killer”? There is good reason for that. Worrying, being fearful and negative drops all this into your system. It shrinks
brain mass, makes you prone to heart disease, depression, aging prematurely and naturally a slew of problems with family and friends. Really? Yes, really! Life is customized for us to experience EVERYTHING. Although fear and negativity are part of having a human experience, it is not designed to be integrated with our lives every day. There comes a point where you have to stop, think and re- evaluate your situation. Is it you? Is it your job, family or certain people you deal with that cause this fear? Do they serve nothing but negativity for an appetizer? Is your main course fear with a side of anxiety? I have been a professional intuitive for over sixteen years and now a certified life coach. In my years of reading sessions I have been a witness to many a client living their life in fear, struggling with negative behavior and or people. Delivering information that these situations or individuals will not change is taxing. However, spirit gives options. I myself have also encountered such issues. I wouldn’t be human if I said otherwise. I have seen people spin themselves out of control over situations that couldn’t ever be controlled. In fact, the only control we ever have is control over ourselves, how to handle something or someone. It’s nice to think we can control another person’s actions or a situation, even an outcome. We can’t. We can

only control our own actions, handle our own situations and be positive for the best possible outcome. We all struggle. We all have big and small issues to cope with. Our lives are never perfect. We are always challenged to evolve, love and learn. Life is precious and goes by very quickly. Why waste so much time on being afraid and living with negative thoughts? When you step back, look back on years past you will only then see that you have festered over nothing or you handled what was thrown at you. I realize it is so much easier said than done but it can be something you can change. After all aren’t we all a work in progress?
How do we switch our thoughts? Thoughts are powerful. What we think, we are or will become. I am a true believer in this. Practice makes perfect so you must practice every day without reserve. No excuses, no changing things! Think of this new way of thinking just as you would study for an exam. We change our thoughts one moment at a time. When thinking a negative thought or fearful thought, switch it out immediately. i.e.; “I’m afraid I won’t do a good job, I don’t feel very confident with my performance

these last few weeks”. I.e.; “What a challenge I have with my job, I am so grateful because I can handle the work. Besides, I am worthy of all the fantastic opportunities that are coming my way”. Simple example. Let’s face it, negative people are everywhere. A client just recently had me laughing when he said; “The negativity in that place is like gum that I just stepped in that I can’t get off my shoe. You know, the kind you find under the desk at school? So I put on a new pair of shoes to get it off and BAM, I step in the gum again”. Our family, friends, work place, any one or place can create negativity. You need to gage when to listen so you can be of help or when to step back. If it is affecting you, draining you and causing stress it is time to step away. I understand there are complicated situations that we encounter. Family can be difficult and friendships often pull on our heart strings. If you are not good for you, I promise you will not be any good for anyone else.
Here are some fantastic ways to get out of the fear and negativity: 1. Breathe. In through the nose, out through the mouth.
2. Think. Is this really worth being afraid of? 3. Give up your control. Can you control or change it? No. You can control you. 4. Gratitude. Whenever you feel fear, switch it over to what you are grateful for. 5. Perspective. Learning to deal with fear is all about putting those fearful negative thoughts in a compartment. We tend to focus too much on the negative, so by looking at all the options, you often realize that you’re making a big deal of nothing. 6. Read. When I really have a need to know something I am on the hunt to read as much about the subject as I can. Reading a good book on your specific fear can open new doors on how you can get rid of it. I would encourage you to read inspirational and motivational books as well. 7. Journaling. Getting your fears down on paper is important because trying to think them through doesn’t work. You get caught in endless loops of negativity that only lead you further down the rabbit hole, and make you miserable. 8. Talk. Talk about your fear or negative feelings with a Therapist, Coach or good friend. 9. Meaning. I believe we all go through situations for a reason. That includes the fears we have. It also includes overcoming fear and learning the lessons that come out of it. This may not be the case 100% of the time,

but looking back at the challenges and fears in my life, I see that more often than not, they delivered exactly the message I needed at that time. Again, the universe provides and teaches. 10. Pray. Prayer is powerful. The Divine, God, whatever you prefer to say is always with us. Your prayers never fall on deaf ears. 11. Exercise. You have to love all the benefits that exercise can bestow upon you. It helps to release stress amongst many other benefits. Take a walk. These are just some suggestions that are sure to help you overcome your fear and any negative factors you may be experiencing.
