Meditation Methods

“The Art of Doing Nothing, yet all is changed”. This is not a conflict of opposites or an oxymoron. This is Meditation! -allowing total relaxation including the mind. Mind discipline calms, creates, and manifests. “What we think about, we bring about!” Meditation is mind discipline. Learning how to meditate can change and create our emotional and physical health, create abundance and prosperity, create peace and happiness. Scientific research over the last several decades has revealed that the most successful, happy and peaceful people use their minds and brains differently than most people. Those who have learned to access an inner mind that is different from the logical, linear brain thinking we are used to, have learned to reach the right side: the creative, calm, inspirational center of their inner self. Adjusting your brain waves for peacefulness, calmness and inner knowingness is what scientists call the alpha brain wave level or the even deeper levels called the theta and delta. These “levels” are merely slower brain wave frequencies which enables us to use more of our brain power and begin to function at a higher and higher level of awareness towards a higher and higher level of development. Creating this brain power not only encourages our imagination but also allows us to access our concept of a higher power. This right brain is very powerful in helping us to attain desired outcomes. It works well with mental pictures of what you desire plus faith that you can accomplish them. Our left brain interjects the rational, logical part needed in the manifesting process. Meditation sharpens our perception. Our perceptual processing becomes more available and more sensitive and more rapid. Our empathy is more accurate. Our introspection and intuition becomes more refined and sharper. There are numerous physical benefits as a result of continued meditation practices. Most notably is reduced blood pressure. Meditation also boosts the immune system functions and allows for healing. The emotional aspects attained with meditation are increased inner peace and happiness. We can release disturbing emotions, anxiety, and depression. We loosen the hold of confusion and stress and learn to calm the mind. Meditation helps us learn to identify our habitual emotional reactions and see them as they are. With the calmness of mind gained from meditation, we dissolve our reactions to disturbing emotions. We can develop the capacity to be more aware, sensitive and skillful in handling our life challenges. Research reveals that meditators experience a brain shift that fosters positive, upbeat moods rather than negative ones. There are a variety of meditation methods all of which are just as good as another. Personal preference seems to be the one which allows us to relax the easiest. Meditation and Stress An article by Dr. Chris Jackson, PhD, DOM, and Jenny Moody, AOS, Mind-Body Trans. Psych.

W

e all experience stressors in our lives as an inherent component of our work-a-day society. Stressors can negatively impact our immune responses through dysregulation of the coordination and communication among the central nervous system (CNS), the endocrine system, and the immune system. When short-term stress activates a sympathetic response, natural killer (NK) cell activity and general immune activity are increased. However, chronic (long-term) stress reduces immune function, often leading to chronic inflammation, and negatively affecting metabolic and cognitive function. Chronic stress also increases levels of glucocorticoids (cortisol) via the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. Elevated cortisol may reduce the number of white blood cells (through apoptosis – programmed cell death) and their functionality. Chronic stress-induced cortisol elevation may also reduce the release of cytokines, affecting immune system efficiency. Thus, chronic stress may result in lowered immunity, metabolic syndrome, and a more rapid aging process. For thousands of years meditation has been part of the human experience. When we focus within we turn down

the thousands of thoughts that enter our brains consistently throughout the day. The mind, which interprets the thoughts, then has the ability to quiet down as well. In meditation we are able to look inward and quiet the outside world, and all of its stressors. We may acknowledge the sounds and other distractors, but we are not focused on them. The hum of a noise may actually be used to help one focus on a single tone rather than the swirling thoughts that keep circling back around. We are attempting to find a place of inner peace and seek to attain a quieting of the mind, tapping us into the calming parasympathetic nervous response known as the relaxation response. The more we are able to go inward in meditation, the better we get at easily bringing ourselves back to the breath and natural rhythm of our being. The external environments can disappear and all that is in the moment is one with the source. Some have experiences of weightlessness and feel like they are floating. Others may be continually releasing resistance through their ease of breath and may tend not to feel their bodies. In meditation, one may simply focus on breathing, thinking about breathing at first, and then just breathing. You are in the moment, not thinking about the past or future. Physically taking in air, moving oxygen throughout the body with intention, relaxing your cells and giving them the restful period so that they can find their balance. Other forms of meditation include exercise, which gives one the ability to tune into the physical body and transform energy into a more comforting form. Runners are focused on running. Thoughts may come and go, yet attention is given to avoiding stumbling or falling, while simultaneously being aware of the surroundings. Some may chant mantras while running or exercising so that they do not allow themselves to become distracted by the external environment. Chanting is a way to quiet the mental body. It helps to focus on a positive affirmation or mantra to calm the mind. This also can be done during a sitting meditation. It is a helpful way to come back to the present moment and cultivate a good feeling to stimulate positive reactions in mind body spirit. Chants have been internally and externally spoken for thousands of years by Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists and other spiritual or religious groups for an offering or to bring about a certain intention. All of these practices help us cope with chronic stress may help us rebuild immunity, avoid metabolic syndrome, and slow the aging process. Meditation

A Gateway to Higher Knowledge, Guidance and Suppor t

editation is a blessed, divine channel of communication and oneness with your higher self and higher guides which is always available. One just needs the knowledge to connect and communicate. It takes practice, firstly learning how to clear the mind of thoughts and distractions, to be fully present, holding the space, engaging in full deep breaths with the crown aligned over the spine. Being in this state will allow superconscious communication to flow in from your higher self to your body through the channel of light of your energy body. You may begin to receive intuitive messages, then with more practice, mastering to receive all of your intuitive messages and then onto telepathic communication. Along

with meditation, a yoga practice with breath work will help to open up the energy of the body. If there are denser restrictions in the body, healing the blocked energy in the chakras and fascia may be on your path to enlightenment. There are some tools that are helpful. Create a higher vibrational space with sacred images, music, candles, incense, etc. Have a daily meditation practice when the outer world is still quiet--before sunrise is ideal. Receive messages from your higher self and spirit guides. Hold the space for intuitive messages to flow into your consciousness. Ask yes or no questions that have been on your mind. As the passage Matthew 7:7 states, “Ask and it will be given to you.” Ask the questions and you shall receive the answers. The truth is, we have not been connecting to our higher selves enough, nor asking enough questions to receive the spirit guidance that was always available. We must ask to receive because we are given free will. Ask questions regarding all areas and aspects of your life. Start with one topic at a time. Practice feeling in your heart space the messages from your higher self and higher guides. If you need more tools, perhaps try using a pendulum to have a visual way of seeing the yes or no responses. The morning meditation practice can be expanded to include an evening meditation practice--before sunset is ideal. Mastering meditation so it becomes an ongoing meditation is a long term goal. It is a state of being aligned with one’s super consciousness, knowing and being oneness with the higher self and higher guidance at all times. Nobody Will Notice Mealtime Meditations By Aluna Michaels

H

olidays are a mixed blessing. It can be wonderful to be with family and friends, attend different events and have extra vacation time. On the other hand, being around certain combinations of people can be like a bad chemistry experiment! In addition, going to many functions can be stressful since you’re up later than normal, driving long distances, or eating (and overeating!) foods you’re not used to. Even having time off from your job can be challenging since your kids might demand your attention so you end up with less private time that you do while at work! How can you stay true to your personal nutritional or fitness philosophy during the chaos of Thanksgiving? It’s tempting to release your stress with food at the dinner table. You’ve cooked for days, or late into the night. You’ve driven far with screaming children to a hectic household -- or people are piling into your home. Now you sit down to eat. You don’t realize how racy you are until you eye the heaps of mashed potatoes and candied yams. What can you do to restore yourself to a minor semblance of sanity before you eat everything in sight? Believe it or not, it’s possible to meditate without anyone even noticing what you’re doing. The point of meditation is to change your mental perspective -- and right now you need to change your excitement/anxiety into quiet gratitude. You might perceive all that food as a well-deserved reward -- or as a sedative to calm your shaky nerves -- or even as a subversive enemy intent on destroying your fitness goals. In the moments before the bowls and platters are passed, take a few breaths and attempt to see the true beauty and opulence that is laid out before you. Focus on the colors of the vegetables -- the happy yellow hue of the corn, the perky green of the peas, the welcoming warm orange tone of the sweet potatoes (or of the pumpkin pie in the distance!) Be grateful for these beautiful and enticing colors that nature invented. Another simple meditation is to imagine the journey that a particular food has taken to be on your plate at this meal. For

instance, the humble lump of mashed potatoes was nurtured by the cool, dark soil as they matured. Imagine the various sets of loving hands that pulled them out of the ground, brought them to a packaging center and shipped them to the grocery store. Glance at the person at the table who cooked the potatoes, and visualize them peeling them, cooking them, and putting them in the serving bowl. These potatoes have come a long way to feed you! When your perspective shifts, you will notice your motives for munching change too. You are honoring what you are eating, and acknowledging the efforts both people and nature have made to ensure you have a full tummy and a nourished system. These little meditations can also help you to remember what Thanksgiving is about in the first place -- gratitude for a community that feeds us and comforts us. Nowadays, our community is large, and there are many anonymous faces. Remembering you are a vast part of a whole can help you feel more emotionally full before you take your first bite of food. Of course, if all else fails, excuse yourself from the table for a brief trip to the rest room. Take a few deep breaths in that makeshift sanctuary in order to center your thinking. When you get back to the table, you will make better choices. And when you feel better about your choices, you will enjoy your company more and be tolerant of the more challenging aspects of your day!

Dancing the Difference in the World! Dance Shifts Your Mood! By Arielle Giordano

L

iving in Canada on a snowy day, I was scheduled to teach a dance class at the University of Alberta. There I was freezing cold. It was a cold so deep that reached a level of pain within my body as I walked through the beautiful grounds. I listened to the birds, the Magpies, along the pathway to the entrance of the building. This morning, I was not in the mood to dance and did not feel like teaching. When I entered the room, I saw ten students standing against the wall waiting for me. They all stared as I put my things down. Doing my routine, I put the music on and remained in my melancholy mood, without energy or inspiration to dance. As soon as I began to teach the warm up, listen to the music, perform simple dance movements, and shimmy, without my conscious awareness, I felt better. By the end of the class, I was energized and in a great mood!! I was invigorated and transformed with more energy and ready to teach my next dance class! Dance and movement inspire me to feel better. In dance, I move to new levels and awareness within my body, mind, emotions, and being! Dancing has always given me insights and taken me to a new space within. If I am tired, I feel more energized after I move and dance. If am down, in a bad mood, unhappy, depressed or just do not feel like moving and do it anyway, I feel better! When I dance, all of me moves, my body, muscles, emotions, mental state, bones, organs and cells. Dance heals what needs healing. Dance moves what needs to move. Dance gives what needs to be given. Dance transforms what needs to be transformed. Dance shapeshifts a new way of being. Dance the difference in five steps:

Music: Music is healing to the body mind, soul and spirit. Listen to the music. Let it touch you deeply in different ways. Listening to the music is soothing for the soul and relaxes the body. Connect to the music power of the music as you move to it. Let the dance and music rejuvenate the body, mind, heart and soul. Music has the ability to enhance mood and healing. Research shows the benefits from studies such as the “Mozart Affect”. The “Mozart Affect” has been proven that listening to classical music alters and heals the psyche, helps plants grow better, helps babies become smarter and more intelligent and help cows give more milk. Baroque music being played in a chiropractor’s office aligned a patient’s spine without treatment! 3. Harmony- Dance gives us the beauty of expression in the harmony within ourselves. Let dance harmonize the rhythms of body, mind, heart and soul! 4. Balance- Movement gets the right and left hemispheres of the brain moving for more mental clarity! Do you ever notice how you can think clearly after you dance? Are you more focused, energized and balanced within yourself? Balance means good posture. Stand on

two feet hip distance apart, life up your rib cage and tuck in your stomach and tuck your bottom underneath your hips. Put your shoulders back and down. This exercise focuses on elongating the spine. While in this position, lift one leg (Place a chair nearby in case you start to lose your balance). If you can balance yourself on one leg, then you have good posture. If you start to wobble, try it again. As we sink into our bodies and allow ourselves to be touched in new ways, we shift ourselves into alignment 5. Stress Relief: Moving and having fun can have a huge impact on the relief of excess stress. Dance provides the freedom from concentrating and being in our heads. It offers something new and different to help burn off stress. Dance invites clarity to happen being stress-free so we can focus. Dance gives the clarity of focus to see clearly. Exercise: Take a deep belly breath and rest in your heart. Let go of your everyday affairs. As you listen to the music, step away from patterns, habits, thoughts and feelings. Dance and be in your body and relax. This is an opportunity to see in a new way. Step out of the familiar and dance outside the lines!

The Heart of Meditation By Michelle M. Caporale

M

editation is the practice of uncritically attempting to focus on one thing at a time. Whatever that thing is doesn’t hold importance as this will vary from one tradition to the next. One person to the next. Often the meditator repeats, either aloud or silently, a word, syllable, or a group of words. This is very familiar to most people. This is what is considered as mantra meditation. Many, such as myself find this technique relaxing. A convenient point of focus when meditating is the rising and falling of your own breathing. It is essential to understand that the “heart” of meditation lies not simply in focusing on one object or listening to your own breathing but rather in the attempt to achieve this kind of focus. The mind has a mind of its own. Human nature is such that our brains do not want to stay concentrated. You will notice when meditating that other thoughts will seemingly appear and interfere with your mediation. When you realize that your mind is drifting to other thoughts you immediately bring yourself back to the one thought you were focusing on. It’s very normal to be repetitive when doing this. Many Eastern religions have long realized the benefits of meditating. Westerners have looked at meditation with a skeptical eye. We are in 2016 heading into 2017 and though meditation has become more acceptable in the western world, it is of my opinion that we still have a long way to go. Dr. Herbert Benson and his colleagues at Harvard University decided to put meditation on the table. In 1968 they conducted a study where volunteers who practiced meditation were tested to see if it could really counter the physiological effects of stress. Dr. Benson scientifically proved that: 1. Heart beat and breathing rates slowed down. 2. Blood lactate levels drop. (This level rises and falls with stress and fatigue) 3. The consumption of oxygen fell by 19%. 4. Skin resistance to electrical current, a sign of relaxation, increased dramatically. 5. EEG ratings of brain wave patterns indicated increased alpha activity, another sign of relaxation. As you can see meditation certainly has many incentives. In today’s fast- beat, stressful world where everyone is in a rush 20 november 2016 • Tampa Bay Wellness

and utterly exhausted, meditation comes in handy. Meditation has successfully been used to treat migraine headaches, stress, heart disease, anxiety, obsessive thinking, depression, diabetes and hostility. Listed are just a few as there are many more. Now that you know how beneficial meditation can be how do you begin? Learning to mediate is not as difficult as you may think. You can learn in just a few short minutes. Practicing controlling your thoughts so you can stay focused is the trick. Still, it is not that difficult to master and I share this with clients regularly. Establish your postureSit in a comfortable chair with your knees comfortably apart and your hands resting on your lap. Sit with your back straight and allow your head to fall upon your spinal column. Allow the small of your back to arch. Sway briefly back and forth as this will allow you to feel the point where your upper torso feels balanced with your hips. When you’ve established a comfortable position close your mouth and start to breathe in through your nose. Place your tongue on the roof of your mouth. Center yourself by what I call; “Grounding”. Close your eyes and imagine you are a tree trunk. You are strong and tall but your roots go deeply into the ground where you cannot be broken. Feel the roots going deeper into the ground as you envision your surroundings. Is it comfortable? What do you smell, see or hear? These are helpful techniques to get started. Be with and in yourself. When thoughts come in, go back to getting deeper into the earth. In time you will learn to push all other thoughts away and focus only on what you need to. AttitudeAttitude is everything. Maintain a passive, positive attitude so that you do not allow yourself to dwell in negative thoughts or feelings while meditating and soon enough these passive, positive thoughts will continue even when not meditating. Sit with this thought; “I am going to

just sit here and relax. Whatever happens is what is supposed to happen”. EnvironmentMake certain you will not be disturbed while meditating. You want to be in a comfortable and quiet place. You are leaving the world behind for this time so you can focus on you and you only. If your goal is to lower your blood pressure you cannot achieve that if the phone is ringing, the dog is barking, etc. What’s your mantra? While meditating what are you seeking to accomplish? Be specific and recite your mantra out loud or in your mind. Because of my work as an Intuitive and Life Coach, I have to stay on key, centered and grounded before and after my sessions. My mantra is one in which I am asking for clarity, guidance, peace and the opportunity for my body, mind and spirit to be optimal so I can not only be the best for clients but also for myself. I focus on this specifically when meditating. Meditation is simply the art of relaxation. It is also used to connect with your higher self so you can gain peace, answers and be a better you! editation is a deep state of relaxation, a state of peace that occurs when the mind is calm. Training the mind to become empty (lack of thought) or not being connected to content is best defined as letting go. Meditation changes the frequency in the brain waves, moves us from higher frequencies to lower frequencies that connect to a different center of the brain. The word meditation refers to a variety of practices that promote inner peace as well as inner energy. It helps you to focus on more compassion and love. It allows for clarity when at times we are looking for the answers and have confusion or need guidance in our path. The answers that are within us, but in the midst of noise and busyness it is often hard to receive the message. Meditation connects us to a guiding force to which we all connect. The earliest practice of meditation is from the Hindu tradition of India about 5000 years ago. Other forms of meditation developed in Taoist China and also India in Buddhism the 5th and 6th centuries BCE. Throughout history, research has shown us that practicing meditation has many benefits including lowering blood pressure, reducing anxiety, release stress, better learning retention and overall wellbeing. If stress, anxiety or worry overwhelm you consider trying meditation, even ten minutes a day may be beneficial to your health and help you get a better perception of your environment. It can restore and renew your mind, body, and soul. This practice does not have to be affiliated with any religion and is as easy as being still or totally focused on just one thing, like your breath, relaxing one body part at a time, a word, a mantra or prayer, a sound, an object, the flame of a candle, painting, or simply walking in nature. The western civilization often associates meditation with Monks or sitting on a pillow with legs crossed for periods of time. most people from attaining the guiding force that is within them, instead they choose to look outside of themselves and at times create more stress and pay for expensive alternatives. Our biggest challenge is keeping the mind free of negative, chaotic, or busy thoughts, a mind that is so often occupied with to do lists which can make us feel guilty when not taking some type of action. Therefore, not thinking of anything at all may seem impossible. If that is somewhat challenging for you, try visualizing some image or thought, word or situation like jumping on a cloud and being taken away until you are no longer focusing on it but the feeling of freedom and peace. Try simply to listen and focus on your breath alone. The more you practice stillness, the easier it will become. Consistency is the key. Meditation has been introduced into schools and is being taught to very young children, which has resulted in a decrease of bullying, attention disorders, and more. Children and adults are benefiting from learning how to meditate. Hospitals and doctors are starting to suggest that patients who are very ill try meditation, even hospice care is incorporating the healing practices of medita-

tion and Reiki, a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation. So why wait until we are sick or stressed to take just 10 minutes a day or longer to improve our health and wellbeing? Why not take time for what is important – our overall wellbeing, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Meditating just a few minutes a day could actually help improve our lives. Allow our days to move along more easily or more smoothly and effortlessly. Our lives would improve in countless ways by feeling less stressed and more energized. Greater clarity to our thoughts and answers to our many questions possible with first the mind be still, one calmer and more able to focus on positive or singular thoughts or images. You may choose a guided meditation to start with and in the privacy of your own home or find a group in your area with whom to meditate, the choice is yours, for whenever the student is ready, the teacher will appear. You need only have the desire to improve your overall health and wellbeing. Strive to live a healthier, happier, and truly wealthier life. Envision your life more in peace, love, and joy! Meditation - Easier Than You Think By Dina Hansen, NHD

I

t’s so easy to get caught up in HOW to meditate. It’s easy to get tangled up in all the information out there from on-line classes, live courses, instructional CD’s, books, websites and so much more, all with the soul purpose of teaching us how to relax. And if you’re like me, a person who loves learning, after a while knowing which is the “right” technique can get very confusing, overwhelming and down right stressful! In fact, the idea of “getting it right” starts to feel so complicated and so stressful, that it makes you want to give up the whole thing all together! I totally get it! The whole reason we’re drawn to meditation in the first place is for the numerous benefits it can bring us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. How it can actually connect us to ourselves, and one another in a genuine and beautiful way. Teaching us to let go of the ego, that so often is the center of all our stress and self depreciation in the first place. Meditation is not about “zoning out” or disconnecting from life. It is not required to sit in an uncomfortable position on the floor, and it is not just for yogi’s, Buddhists or any specific religious group. Meditation is for everyone, can be done in any comfortable position and anywhere, for any length of time. Meditation allows us to connect with the part of ourselves that is centered, grounded, nurturing and can objectively observe our experience in a whole new light. It lowers blood pressure, eases our digestion-of life and of food, it can calm our anxiety and transform our relationship with ourselves and with others. The truth is, it doesn’t matter how you meditate, as long as you make time for yourself each day. And instead of focusing on “getting it right”, focus on what’s actually happening for you in that moment. Notice what you are feeling instead of pushing it away. What happens when you just accept the feeling instead of labeling it or judging it? And it can start with as little as 90 seconds of breathing. You can visualize yourself in nature, focus in on soothing music, practice a form of energy work such as Jin Shin Jyutsu, Reiki or chakra balancing with yoga. Bake, walk in nature, kayak, auto-writing in the morning…it doesn’t matter! The point is to enjoy focused time connecting with yourself. I even suggest to my clients that they apply a moment of mindfulness when they are at a red light, or what I call a pause light. to pause, breathe, get centered and release what no longer serves me in an exhale. Which, to be honest, has prevented a lot of road rage. Then when you feel comfortable, add another 90 seconds, then another 90 seconds…it’s entirely up to you. The perspective of the observer, freeing yourself from the old, negative emotional connection that the ego brings to the game. The Meditative Life

editation is a tool to reach one’s innermost being, which is one’s divinity. This means using a calmness to help access our higher consciousness and reap the benefits that accrue from this activity. In fact, continued going within, reprograms the way we experience our reality. It is possible to live in a meditative state, that is, a state of being that is prayerful, meditative, calm and relaxed. All of these states have a profound and positive influence on our life and meditation. The question that arises is “How and why would one wish to do this?” Simply put, this communion with the All That Is within, connects us to the infinite wisdom and knowledge that exists, ever existed and will exist. This is because we are individualized aspects of the infinite Creator and are never separate, thus our communion and ultimate union with God/Goddess/All That Is, gives illumination and self-realization. This means that we have access to all that we could ever dream. In other words, we are powerful recipients of the ultimate power of the universe. There is nothing that can, or will, deny us! There are many techniques, levels and benefits to meditation. Information and descriptions of all of these could fill volumes of books, but ultimately the way it works for us is in re-wiring the processes involved with how we experience reality. Instead of reacting, we calmly assimilate outer effects in a different and higher manner. Note the word “calmly” as a relaxed state of being is key to the meditative life. Calmness leads to physical relaxation which contributes to an altered mental level manifesting in a slower brainwave functioning. All of this reduces stress and leads to healing and growth on mental emotional and spiritual levels. It also helps to open our intuitive abilities and much more. A contemplative style of meditation can be experienced in almost any setting and almost all of the time. Most people think of meditation as being alone, seated and eyes closed, however one can exist in the mundane secular world in a meditative state of mind and actively participat• To Advertise Call 813-501-4894

ing in life. Simply being relaxed, breathing slowly, and keeping one’s mind calm, sets the stage for the meditative mind and being and for those that practice this style of meditation, it becomes one’s life style. In the contemplative meditation life style, one contemplates a single aspect at a time. All we have to do is ask for clarification such as “What does this mean?” With the clearing of the mind due to relaxation, one receives inspiration and information clarifying and elucidating the questions or requests that one asks the universe. Known as the “still, small voice”, the answers come in visions, pictures, feelings, and sometimes very clear audio messages. Constant contemplation contributes to ever on-going inflow of experiences and information. Contemplative meditation, is well known to have been the life style of saints and other spiritually gifted personages. Writers and spiritual teachers, to include scientists among others are known to explore and find answers using meditative techniques. Every morning, George Washington Carver, an astounding inventor, would arise and commune with the plants and nature, contemplating in a meditative manner to listen and receive information. These experiences were recorded in his personal diaries. Tesla, Edison, Einstein and others dreamt or received information as they contemplated the ideas and possibilities they received. In fact, another famous American inventor, whenever he had problems or questions, would sit with his back to the sun (possibly hyper-activating or energizing his autonomic system) and quickly receive answers to those questions and problems. So, while it may seem that these historical genius’s had profound abilities, it is true that with consistent application and effort, ordinary people such as ourselves can also apply contemplative meditation to our lives and reap benefits far beyond what we now imagine. Intention and relaxation of the mind and body are keys to this. There are many ways to relax the body and mind. Breathwork is a powerful way to do this, as is reiki or other energy work

(chi kung/qigong, tai chi, yoga, pranayama, thetahealing and others). In fact, just doing any of these, will calm a person on many levels. Simply breathing in a relaxed abdominal way will change body chemistry and help relax a person. Rubbing one’s hands together and then putting one’s hands over the kidneys (yes, a little difficult but easily manageable) also helps since the adrenals reside on the top of the kidneys. The energy coming from one’s hands also helps relax and calm the adrenals. In Chinese medicine the kidneys (adrenals) are vital and powerful energy sources and relaxing or soothing them is very effective for one’s health. If one has a chance to visit physical locations which have positive energies, such as lakes, oceans, trees, nature, this also beneficially affects the contemplation and meditation. Locations of ley lines as in the location of the Coral Castle in Homestead Florida, or the Tor in Glastonbury, Englad can afford amazing experiences. While most of us will not contemplate for hours each day, the application of relaxation techniques while practicing contemplation, meditation, and prayer will accelerate one’s spiritual progress. The inspiration one receives from this is similar to the maturation of the forest tree… slow, steady growth but powerful base from which to experience life and spirituality….which in turn positively contributes to our family, personal life and those around us as we all grow together in our spiritual consciousness!

Magical Meditation Ritual to Forgive, Release, and Revoke By Dennis Alexander

I

am often asked if I meditate. Many times I say no. Meditation requires connecting with Source, implying that you are saying you are disconnected. I stay connected to The Divine at all times, so you might say I preform rituals, rather than Meditations. Having said that, here at the Sentient Temple, we follow Shamanic Tradition, Daoist Tradition, Christian Tradition and Mayan Tradition. This particular meditation is Daoist in the most part, but can be used with any belief structure. We believe all disease is caused by emotional trauma and lack of forgiveness towards others and ourselves. My mother was on her death bed caused by radiation poisoning. She was ninety three, but had unfinished issues to resolve and although she was suffering grievously she refused to die. I called my sister who was looking after her and asked her to place the phone by my mother’s ear. I took her through this Meditation and she passed peacefully several hours later. This works for a type “Last Ritual” and for healing emotionally broken people. Our success rate with our patients is almost one hundred percent, IF they follow our protocol. Let’s begin. 1. me now, and dedicate this magic ritual to the Glory of The Divine – So that all may truly heal”. “I ask that all of my teachers and guides, guardians and healers, and that The Divine Presence, the Holy Spirit, and the True God of all Gods, be with me now – in order to help me complete this sacred work I do today!” “I ask that this healing work be done today between myself and _NAME__. “I forgive you _ NAME__, for whatever happened between us, in this lifetime or any other. “I ask that you _ NAME_ forgive me, for whatever happened between us, in this lifetime or any other. “I ask that the True God of all Gods, (name your Deities), the Holy God and Goddess, my guides and teachers, guardians and protectors, and all people forgive me for whatever happened between us_ NAME_, in this lifetime or any other. 3. Then, using the right hand Crane’s Beak Hand Seal (representing the five colored lights of the five original Virtues of Unconditional Love, Inner-Peace, Truth, Integrity, and Divine Wisdom), tap three times on the center of your chest and heart area and say the following affirmation: “I forgive myself, I forgive myself, I forgive myself!” “And I ask that the “Mighty Sword of The Divine pass between us now, _Te Het Yo (Mayan, for It Is So)_!” CRANE HAND MUDRAS “Completely severing, disconnecting, and removing Any and All spiritual and energetic attachments - so that this can be a clean transition and healing!” …….. “May what is truly yours __

in a counter-clockwise direction, and say in a strong voice: “I now command any and all magical portals, any type of doorway, dimension, and energies of any form in all space and time that no longer serve My highest purpose - Be Now Forever Closed!” 5. Form the “Sealing Heaven and Earth” Hand Seal, with the fingers of the outside left Yang hand (thumb pointing up) grasping the fingers of the inside right Yin hand (thumb pointing down). After forming the “sealing hand seal,” say: “Locked!” 6. Then form the “Golden Lock” Hand Seal, with the little fingers interlocking, and both closed fists facing heart. After forming the “locking hand seal,” say: “And Sealed!” 7. Then form the “Magical Seal” Hand Seal, with the right palm press down on top of the left palm, and both palms pressing down into the Earth. After forming the final “Magical Seal” hand seal,” say: “Through the Eternal Power of the True God of all Gods, my Lord and Savior The Divine Presence, and through the mighty healing power of the Holy Spirit of (name your Deity) Be Now Done!” …(Cut)… Sword finger Hand Seal 8. Next, with your right Sword Fingers Hand Seal, sweep down in front of your body, cutting any and all energetic cords after speaking each of the following: “I close these portals and their influence to my body!” ….(Cut)…. “I close these portals and their influence to my life!” ….(Cut)…. “I close these portals and their influence to my mate!”…. (Cut)…. “I close these portals and their influence to my family!” ….(Cut)…. “I close these portals and their influence to my home!” ….(Cut)…. “I close these portals and their influence to my work!” ….(Cut)…. “Through the Power and Authority of the True God of all Gods, my Lord and Savior (name your Deity), and through the mighty healing power of the Holy Spirit of the Divine Presence, Be Now Done! Be Now Done! Be Now Done! ….(Cut)…. 9. Then, end this part of the magic ritual by forming the “Releasing and Resolving” Hand Seal. In this special hand seal, the thumbs press the nails of the Fire (middle) Fingers on each hand, forming two small magical circles. The Metal (ring) fingers of each hand insert inside the centers of the magical circles, the tips of the Water (little) fingers touch, and the Wind/Wood (index) fingers point straight. Rest the forearms on your lap and point the magical hand seal towards the Earth. Relax and allow the light of the Divine to settle throughout your body, releasing of any remaining unsettled energy. 10. Once a Divine Peace resides within your body, connect the Wind/Wood (index) fingers and feel your sprit shoot upwards into your Crystal Chamber and into the Heavens, reconnecting you with the true spirit of God; feel yourself suspended in space surrounded by Divine Light, and the various stars and planets. Next, say the following “Magical Closing,” spoken as follows: “I ask that any energy that belongs to anyone else in this sacred space be gathered up and returned to them now as Dao Light, Pure, Divine, and Holy. And I ask that all the teachers and guides, guardians and protectors, (Name your Deity), the Holy Spirit, and the True God of all Gods help each person reintegrate that which is truly theirs, back into their being as Divine Light. And I ask that whatever residual energy belonging to me be gathered up from this sacred space now, and be returned back into my being as God’s Light, Pure and Whole.” “I ask that all magical doorways in all space and time, be now closed on the sacred work that was done this day, and that all of my energy fields and three bodies be now filled with the healing light of The Divine Presence the Holy Spirit, and the True God of all Gods.” 12. Finally, say the “Benediction”, and express your good wishes and heart felt blessings to any and all of those spirit teachers, healers, and guardians who participated in the magical ritual. The “Benediction” is spoken as follows: “I thank everyone who has participated in this magic ritual and helped in this sacred work; all of my teachers and guides, guardians, protectors and healers, (name your Deity), the Holy Spirit, and the True God of all Gods.” I thank you all, and I ask that you now dissolve the Golden Sphere of Divine Light that surrounded and protected us during this magical ritual, and return it now back as The Dao’s Light to the Divine Source.
