SAFETY

Transportation safety is vital to the overall health and well-being of the residents of Grand Hampton. Here are some tips for safety on bikes, golfcarts and pedestrians:

Laughter at the Grand Hampton Clubhouse If you were in the mood to laugh and have fun this was the place to be on October 16th! The night began with some drinks and appetizers while everyone mixed and mingled. As the energy was starting to heighten the comedy show began. Each comedian had their different vibe, but they all had one thing in common - the ability to make people laugh!!! It made me realize how important laughter is to the human soul. Did you know that laughter triggers the release of endorphins, and this is the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote and overall sense of wellbeing! So, if you missed this one be sure to catch the next one in 2022.

Bike Safety: • Obey and follow all traffic rules • Ride bicycles with the flow of traffic • If you must ride in the dark wear reflective clothing or accents, especially on your ankles, wrists, back, and helmet. If a carrier is added, make sure the rear reflector remains visible • Add the brightest lights you can find to the front and rear of your bicycle • Always assume you are not seen by a driver Golf Cart Safety: • Obey and follow all traffic rules • Make sure the direction selector is in the correct position before accelerating • Always bring the golf cart to a full stop before shifting direction • Slow down before and during turn • Check behind you before operating in reverse • Always yield to pedestrians • Use seatbelts, if available • Do not text and drive the golf cart • Do not allow anyone to stand in a moving golf cart • Do not drive the cart while intoxicated • When Driving in the dark be sure your golf cart lights are on Pedestrian Safety: • Be predictable. Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals. Walk on sidewalks whenever they are available. If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from traffic as possible • Keep alert at all times; don’t be distracted by electronic devices that take your eyes (and ears) off the road • Never assume a driver sees you. Make eye contact with drivers as they approach to make sure you are seen • Be visible at all times. Wear bright clothing during the day and wear reflective materials or use a flashlight at night • Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways or backing up in parking lots 4 • To Advertise Call: 813.501.4894

Let’s get ready for the H

Holidays

oliday decorations are an integral part of the holiday season, as they make the Florida winter feel more festive and cheerier. Grand Hampton residents of many different faiths come together during this time of year to put out holiday décor and celebrate as a community. From a single string of lights to full winter wonderlands, every household and neighborhood is beautifully diverse in how it chooses to celebrate the time of year and decorate its homes. This year

we are planning a Holiday House Decorating Contest! 1st prize will be $100.00 gift card, 2nd prize $50.00 and 3rd prize $25.00 Additional details will be provided as we get closer to the holiday season.

Photo by Juliana Malta - Unsplash

Please remember the following restrictions when it comes to holiday lights and décor: • No lights or decorations of any kind are permitted to be installed on or placed in the easement area abutting the Lot. The easement area is the grassed area between the roadway and the sidewalk in front of the Lot (where the mailbox is).

• No lights or decorations of any kind are permitted to be installed on or over the sidewalks in the community. This includes archways or other items that are positioned on or over the sidewalks. This also includes all electrical cords, light strands and all other devices/items that would be placed on or over the sidewalk. • The sidewalks are shared common areas that are used by many individuals in the community, and we need to ensure all sidewalks are clear of all items to pedestrians can travel on them safely and unobstructed. Here are some decorating guidelines: • Before you get all tangled in Christmas lights and perch precariously on the ladder, take some time to plan out your Christmas lights design. • Check that lights and cords are in good repair and are rated for outdoor use. • Read manufacturer recommendations to determine the number of lights you can safely string together. • Outdoor lights should be plugged into circuits protected by ground-fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs).

hanksgiving is an American holiday that we celebrate annually on the fourth Thursday of November. Whenever the holiday season comes around, annual traditions and Thanksgiving activities seem to explode. There are family events centered around each special occasion, and Thanksgiving is no exception. This celebration is so common for American households and we grow up anticipating the turkey, amazing sides (not to mention desserts!), the food coma, and football naps. As a Lifestyle Manager I am truly cognizant of the life I choose to live, and I love to plan many fun events for Grand Hampton in which I do for my family also. Lifestyle is not just planning fun events, but it is also bringing the community together, opportunities to meet neighbors, laugh, and provide truly meaningful social connections. Thanksgiving is a time to be mindful of your everyday actions and intent, be fully present when talking with someone, and thankful for people who love you. I would like to share a little bit about myself and what I am thankful for: I am truly thankful for my daughter, the ability to plan events that keep people engaged, and my family and friends who love and support me through my journey in life. Happy Thanksgiving to each and every Grand Hampton Resident!
