Editor’s note
It’s been five years since Mother Nature rocked our world and drastically changed our lives and landscape, levelling much of the city. Our beloved after dark and arts scenes copped a massive hit, but – not a city to stop the party (for long, anyway) – innovation, initiative and necessity saw us back in the city enjoying pop up bars and clubs, container shopping centres, festivals and art on a seriously grand scale. Having recently reclaimed the Christchurch Art Gallery and CoCA, and with the next wave of the hospitality regeneration underway, we talk to the people helping shape the new Christchurch in Change of Art (p16) and Raising the Bar(s) (p19).
