CELEBRATION NEWSLETTER SOMERSET BUSINESS AWARDS 2018

SOMERSET BUSINESS AWARDS 2018 This year’s Somerset Business Awards marked the fourteenth year of celebrating the best in Somerset, and yet again the business finalists did not fail to impress. The atmosphere was fantastic as various individuals, companies and organisations were recognised and celebrated. The diverse array of business products and services that we saw on the night really encapsulate what makes the county of Somerset so special. Throughout the evening it was really exciting to see the video clips of nominees speak so passionately about what they do, and guests in the room saw that passion shine through in every speaker; whether an employee, owner, or part of a larger organisation.

Stephen Henagulph CHIEF EXECUTIVE, SOMERSET CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AWARDS ORGANISERS

The speeches from the award winners as they receive their welldeserved trophies became emotional at times, as they explained the journey and challenges they have faced in driving their business forward. The reaction from the audience on the night was brilliant and it was clear that all the businesses in the room could relate to the amount of the sheer hard work and determination the finalists displayed. The generosity of the audience should also be appreciated, as this year over ÂŁ2,000 was raised on the night for three exceptionally worthy Somerset charities. To mirror the awards on the evening, I have many to thank; my Chamber team, the sponsors and judges, our speakers, but most importantly, the award nominees and winners, as without these VIPs, there would be no celebrations.

As always, the Somerset Business Awards proved to be a fantastic celebration of the high quality businesses that call Somerset, home. We are now in to our eighth year as Main Sponsor and there are many things about the awards that keep us coming back for more, not least the fantastic awards night itself. On behalf of everyone at Albert Goodman, my thanks go to the Somerset Chamber team for putting on such an excellent event. The high quality of businesses that enter in to the awards is testament to the ingenuity, entrepreneurial spirit and adaptability of the Somerset business community. Although we are living through times of great uncertainty, the Somerset Business Awards remind us all that we have much to celebrate. In particular, the excellent young people nominated in the Young Business Employee of the Year category, show just how bright the future of Somerset can be.
