These 2016 bats live up to the reputation Worth has established as the best performing sticks on the diamond ... fast break in and unreal distance.” What defines Worth as a leading producer of high-performing bats is knowing that hitters aren’t “one-size-fits-all.” The brand’s engineers have spent a considerable amount of time developing quality equipment for a variety of skill levels and performance needs. “We offer balance and end loads for all types of hitters,” said Cornell. “The Connell Legit (SBL22B) offers a balanced feel while The JH series carries its traditional half-ounce load. While not all of the 2016 models include the flex optimization, all of the bats in COMBAT’s 2016 lineup were designed with the Precision Molded Seamless Construction, which works to consistently produce positive contact while also eliminating “dead spots.” Sounds great, right -- but how does it work? Senior Engineer Stephen Fitzgerald breaks down the science behind the improvement to COMBAT’s 2016 slowpitch lineup. “The best way to explain this is to dissect the phrase in its two key parts,” explains Fitzgerald. “Precision molding means that the outer and inner barrel diameter of every bat that we make is created with computercontrolled tooling for accuracy and precision control. Resmondo won 8 of the 14 Major tournaments that they played on the prestigious Nationwide Conference USSSA circuit. They finished with a league best 72-15 record and were led by MVP Greg Connell who led the nation in home runs (146), RBI (378), and on base percentage (.802). Resmondo won the Hall of Fame Classic Dual #2 at the Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee, Florida in April with the championship games being broadcast on CBS Sports Network cable station. Annual Texas Legends tournament at Softball World in Dallas, Texas. In June they got red hot and won both of the Maryland Dual Majors by going 60 in each event over a 4 day period and defeating their arch rival Smash It Sports in both finals. Resmondo also Dominated over the competition at the Dudley Budweiser, the Michigan Last Chance, the Conference Championships, and most importantly earned a win at the 2015 USSSA Major World Series. The 'A' team of the year is ASPNation who was a group of Texas all stars who got together and shocked the softball world by pulling off the upset win at the ASA 'A' National Championship. ASPNation won their opening game 43-24 over former ASA 'B' champion Heartland Investors. In their second game they scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning and beat the tournament

favorites Compound Athletics 20-19 on a walk off single by pitcher Danny Evans. In the final 4 they scored 13 runs in the 3rd inning and had two big home runs from relief pitcher Brian Bohanon to hold off T's 13 34-31. Then late on Saturday night they knocked off Precision 45-33 in a slugfest to advance to the championship. In the championship game on Sunday they were led by tournament MVP Kyle Pearson and again beat Precision 35-32 to win a

very unexpected ASA 'A' National title. ASPNation posted a impressive .682 team batting average in the tournament and averaged a whopping 35.4 runs per game. 1st baseman Kyle Pearson led the way at .808, 6 HR, and 27 RBI. The Texas tandem of 3rd baseman Cooper Vittitow and catcher Matt Vern each hit .750 and they combined for 8 HR, 30 RBI, and 31 runs scored. Big Tim Bowser also hit .808 with 9 HR and 26 RBI.

Tournaments Played 1 Championships: 2015 ASA 'A' National

By DW at SoftballCenter.com The Orange County Swats is our pick for 'B' team of the year as they finished 8th in the Nationwide Conference USSSA league, the highest finishing 'B' team in the country. OC Swats went 55-24 on the season including a 20-8 record against 'B' teams during the season. They won 4 of the 15 tournaments they played in. They began their season with a tournament win at the prestigious pre-season tournament the 8th Annual Southwest Invite where they went a perfect 7-0 and outscored their opponents 204-114.

Four tournaments later they won again at the Nationwide Conference USSSA Cactus Classic going 7-1 and again dominating their opponents by outscoring them 238-106 in the Desert Heat. Outfielder Eli Aguilar batted .868 to win the MVP and Ryan McClanahan was voted Defensive MVP. OC Swats spent the summer battling the top teams in the Conference and went as high as #6 in the national points standings. They won the Golden State Major in late June going 5-1 with Mike Brambilla getting the MVP with an .857 average and 3rd baseman Matt Fox grabbing the Defensive MVP. In early August Swats finished 2nd in the 31st Annual

Rocky Mountain Shootout and then finished their season with a win at the 2015 USSSA 'B' World tournament where they won two of their games including the championship game in their last at bat. 49 year old pitcher Paul Winner was the 'B' World MVP and 2nd baseman Pilar Amaya won the Defensive MVP. OC Swats was sponsored by longtime manager Henri Nuber and his bench coach Ric Doerflinger. They were led offensively during the season by Mike Brambilla .740, 95 HR, 247 RBI and 1st baseman Steven Lopez .749, 26 HR, 101 RBI. OC Swats will move to the new USSSA 'AA' division for 2016.

They won their first 6 games of the tournament then lost to Stars out of Colorado in the first game of the championship 20-9 but rebounded to win the "if" game 19-8 in the double elimination tournament to take the title. Chris Potts, Jason White, Ryan Galiher, Josh Bergeron, and Tyler Wilschetz were all selected to the All World Team. TMT played mostly class 'C' and Open tournaments throughout Texas and had a 44-36 record through their first 18 regular season tournaments finishing 2nd place on 4 different occasions but never broke through and won until August. In August their roster was bolstered by the late season additions of infielders Chris Potts and

Marcus Thornton who had experience playing Conference ball with Classic Glass, Newbreed, and ASPNation in the past. TMT then won 22 of their last 24 games and won the USSSA Texas State tournament, the NTX Support the Troops tournament, the USSSA Southeastern Regional, and the previously mentioned USSSA 'C' World Tournament and finished with a 64-38 record. At one point towards the end of the season TMT won 16 straight games!

When it came down to selecting Softball Today's 16U fastpitch Team of the Year, the choice really wasn't that difficult as the 16U Florida Fire truly stood out. The 16U Florida Fire, played mostly ASA qualifiers and showcases and played the Scenic City Showcase in Chattanooga in June, because they were back there for Nationals and the Atlanta Legacy Showcase in July the week before Nationals. When it came down to facing many of the best teams in the nation, the Fire - Kailey Christian, Rebekah DiLavore, Claire Feldman, Sloan Hammons, Haley Hendricks, Madison Lynn, Edmilly Molina, Peyton Moritz, Elsie Rivera, Morgan Slater, Breanna Wells -- bounced back from a pair of run-rule defeats in pool play to go undefeated at the ASA Nationals held in Chattanooga, TN . “Out of 185 teams we came out on top,” said

Peyton Moritz, who went 2 for 3 and scored a run." "Thanks so much for selecting our team. We feel honored. I am so proud of our team this past year." Said 16U Florida Fires coach Tony Moritz. "It was a daunting 185 team double elimination bracket for ASA 16U Nationals in Chattanooga. We got run ruled our first two play in (seed) games, so it looked pretty dismal the odds of winning the whole thing. The bracket looked so huge on the wall when they penciled us into that first slot." "We figured we'd have to be good and have a lot of luck along the way. One game at a time and staying in the winners bracket helped. Nine wins in a row and we did it. It was a surreal moment that really didn't sink in fully until days later. A lot of people out there were so proud of us. Many phone calls and texts poured through congratulating me and the team on the accomplishment from former players, parents, assistant coaches, rival coaches from all the past years. It was a lot of years of hard work and enduring the crazy world of travel softball." Said Moritz.

The team lost some key original core players from the previous year so they had to find solid players to replace them. It all came together during Nationals and the girls really played for each other and became like sisters. Many great pitching performances by Claire Feldman inspired the rest of the team and pushed them on to the very end. One close game along the way where they had to have a comeback win with a game winning home run by Rebekah DiLavore was instrumental in the teams belief that they could actually win the whole thing. "We only had 12 players with us at Nationals and everyone contributed in their own way and they stayed focused the whole time. Every girl had a key role in the teams overall success, a hit, or a bunt that we couldn't do without. I couldn't be more proud of each one of these girls. We feel honored to be the first Florida Fire team to win Nationals and we look forward to next summer." Said Moritz.

The 14U Southern Force were Softball Today's unanimous choice for our 14U girls Fastpitch team of the year. The team was one of the most successful 14U teams out there. They earned a impressive 368-4 record throughout the summer competing against mostly 16U teams. They placed 5th at the Scenic City, 16U Super Pool Division in June and they took 1st place at the ASA Qualifier in Bowling Green KY. later that month. The Southern Force than finished 3rd against top notch competition at the Independence Day Showcase/Tournament in Boulder, CO. They continued to impress as they earned a 3rd place finish at the Southern Force Summer Showdown later in July against 16U competition. All of this success and confidence prepared them for the ASA 14U Nationals in SALEM, VA. Southern Force -- Laken Nesby (CF), Jenna Howell (Utility), Emmy Blane (SS, C), Gracie Osbron (C, 3rd, SS), Abby Shoulders (2nd, RF), Megan Fortner (LF),

Taylor Roby (P, 1st), Payton Blades (Utility, P), Bailey Woodward (Utility), Lindsey Carroll (3rd, SS, P) and Alyssa Case (1st, 3rd) -- won its final eight games in Salem, including a thrilling 2-1 victory over Atlanta Premier in the finals as they went on to capture the ASA 14U Nationals. "All year we as coaches kept preaching, focus on getting better. If we do that, winning is a by-product. This year I challenged the other coaches to give the players more control and asked the girls to take on more responsibility." Said Southern Force coach Dave Carroll. "While we had a few struggles, their knowledge of the game improved, they matured and took ownership of the results. It became their team." "They are the most competitive group of young ladies, always trying to make some kind of competition out of our drills in practice. It is definitely true that winners hate to lose more than they love to win. Taylor Roby (University of Louisville commit) excelled in the circle for us all year long and we played solid defensive behind her." Said Carroll The team's offensive stats tell a real story about

how diverse Southern Force truly was as seven different players lead the team in multiple offensive categories and all seven had an OPS over 900. The team batting average was .354 and they hit .378 with runners in scoring position. Every game it seemed as if it was someone different that made the key play or got the crucial hit that allowed the team to win. "They truly have each others back and there is a respect between teammates that is amazing to see. Years from now, I can see these ladies talking to each other and telling stories about what they accomplished in the summer of 2015 and the good times they had together both on and off the field." "It's a tremendous honor to coach an ASA National Championship team, but what I'm most proud of is the way these young ladies approach and play the game of softball and the love they have for each other, that's what makes them great" Said Carroll.

Softball Today's 12U fastpitch Team of the Year goes to the 12U Sudden Impact team coached by Troy Falterman. To have a championship team you need all the right ingredients. Your players must have total dedication and the will to fight back even in the face of the utmost adversities. Sudden Impact had all of the right ingredients and they played spectacular ball all season long. No matter what the caliber of competition Sudden impact was always in the hunt in early season tournaments. "We pride ourselves on never giving up we play each game one inning at a time and it was always a total team effort." Said coach Falterman. When the final dust cleared and when it meant the most Sudden Impact shined the brightest as they capped their season off by winning the ASA 12U National Championship. Sudden Impact -- Amanda Allen, Madelyn Lopez, Jacey Meade, Amanda Skivington, Skylar Shanahan, Skylar Sirdashney, Kayla Falterman, Mia Rivers, Sam Graeter and Katie Cimusz --

scored 54 runs in 10 games and bounced back quickly from its only defeat to clinch the championship. Pitcher Skylar Shanahan had a 1.40 ERA as Sudden Impact went 9-1 overall -- taking two of three against the runner-up Frost Falcons, from Tennessee. Sudden Impact defeated the Frost Falcons, 4-2, in a winner-take-all finale to capture the 12U ASA National Championship. Sudden Impact was also led offensively by Amanda Skivington (.448) and Kayla Falterman (.400). Katie Cimusz also came up with one of the most significant hits of the tournament -- a solo home run that helped secure a 2-1 win over the California Grapettes. “We have six 2003 players and four 2002 players so we were young compared to most teams at the tournament,” coach Falterman said. “But our girls played with the heart and determination that they demonstrated all year.” "I was very proud of how this team came together and demonstrated perseverance throughout the year. They were all great

teammates that resulted in a great team that played for each other and displayed a “never give up” attitude." coach Falterman said. “Winning the 12U ASA national championship was a tremendous accomplishment for our team,” coach Falterman said. “It was an accomplishment that the girls and everyone involved will remember for the rest of our lives.”
