Fay-zers on stun The Spiraltones are supporting the Fay Hallam Trinity at the Cellar on Saturday February 1st. The Fay Hallam Trinity are a 60s and 70s influenced Mod, Pop and Psychedelic collective fronted by ex Makin’ Time songstress and 80s Mod Pin Up Fay Hallum. Fay, of course later joined Garage king pin Graham Day (The Prisoners) with underground innovators the Prime Movers. FHT have now established themselves as flag bearers of an infectious and accessible groove that will satisfy both indie heads and lovers of Pop Soul – Mod Style. The sound made famous by London’s Legendary Blow Up Club. The combination of Fay’s distinctive vocal delivery and a smattering of Hammond organ will always lift the roof live and this is a very rare chance to see her in Southampton. Opening up for Fay and Co, are Sofa City ukulele driven popsters The Spiraltones. Their Blue Grass meets New Wave sound has ensured a strong following and continues to turn heads and ears with their exuberant live performances. DJ duties for the evening are left with SOUL45 spinning of course strictly vinyl 45s of Northern Soul Boogaloo Funk Motown will be playing well into the early hours. The show is in association with Tonic Music for Mental Health a non profit organisation raising awareness of mental health and promoting recovery through music. The ribbon people The Ribbon People arrived on their own. At first there were only one or two but soon their number grew like puddles in the rain. We saw them and we stopped. They resembled us and offered uncomplicated friendship. One of them waved. Another pointed at the sky. A finger said this is where I come from. There were introductions and it wasn't long before a crowd of onlookers gathered and families started exchanging contact details. Then there were the lovers. An umbrella spoke of shelter and held hands. The Ribbon People became brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers. We looked through their eyes and found ourselves to be more simple than we had imagined beneath our clothes and barriers of expression.

FALLOUT BOYS

Sombrero Fallout picture by Adam Barnes

Sombrero Fallout news ; we have been busy spotting UFOs over St Denys, translating the Clangers into Klingon and exterminating our inner Daleks. Had some great times in 2013 - highlights were; the radio session with Xan and Issa and Chris Trombone Rickets ( he seems to be a permanent feature now !), a brilliant evening at the Wool house for the Brickfield schools, Rest Festival near Salsbury and ‘How the light gets in’ at Hay on Wye !

Looking foward to similar events this year starting with Sofa City Global at the heads on the 31st - really liking the music /art /poetry thing which Marco, Issa and others have started . P.S Not forgetting Marcos all day charity gigs and the food not bombs lot too - cool !
