SL: What are some of your biggest struggles as a Mom? GV: Not always being able to attend sporting or school events with my son.
SL: What would your perfect day off be like? Describe it. GV: My perfect day involves balance and finding quality time not just for my son, but also for myself. I need me-time to recharge so that I can be present as my best self when I am with my son.
SL: What’s the one song that means the most to you? GV: There’s an Arabic song called “2 Moons.” It reminds me of incredible moments we had as a family.
SL: What advice would you give to your younger self about Motherhood? GV: Treasure every moment you have with your kids. Enjoy every stage because you will not get that time back. Build memories with them. Hold on to the tiny moments and cherish the little snuggles… they grow up fast.
SL: Is there a quote, saying, words of advice or scripture you consider words to live by?
GV: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves and defend the cause of all who are needy.” Proverbs 31:8
SL: If you could share a meal with any woman past, present or future who would it be? Why? GV: Oprah, because of her wisdom and perspective on the adversity she has overcome.
SL: What Mom from real-life or even TV/movies do you admire most? GV: My sister Elizabeth, is my mom role model. She never missed a single special occasion with her children and now she is a completely present grandmother. I always admired her ability to be fully present in her children’s lives, despite the challenges life brought her way. To this day, she continues to inspire me as a mom as I watch her develop her relationships with her adult children and grandchildren.
SL: At the end of a long day, what do you do for fun or relaxation? GV: Spending time with Abrahim, Blue (our dog) and Curt my partner. I also think shopping relaxes me!
