FESTIVAL • The MAIN ST. Fort Worth Arts Festival returns to Downtown Fort Worth for its 36th year on April 20-23. This #3 ranked fine arts event in the U.S. is always-free-toattend. It will cater to the whole family, showcasing 215 jury-selected visual artists, live music on two stages, authentic local cuisine, a family-friendly “TCC Makers Zone,” craft beer, wine tastings, and more, across 18 square blocks.This year’s unique outdoor gallery will feature 215 artists. With four different stages and entertainers ranging from southern rock bands and jazz to R&B and Tejano, the musical lineup is packed. MAIN ST. also features an unparalleled culinary experience with a range of dishes prepared by top local chefs and longstanding festival vendors across five food courts daily. APR 21-23 • EARTHX • When Trammell S. Crow founded EarthX (originally Earth Day Texas), he envisioned creating a space where everyone could come together to find meaningful solutions to enrich and protect our planet, without regard to politics or philosophical differences. Now, more than a decade later, that vision has become EarthX, which annually hosts the EarthxExpo, the largest green gathering in the world. APR 28-30 • ART IN THE SQUARE • Save the date for Art in the Square 2023. Art in the Square is a three-day juried fine art festival produced by the Southlake Women’s Club. It is held in the Southlake Town Square and all proceeds from this event are donated to local charities benefiting women, children, and families. To date, we have dispersed over $3M in funds in the last 20 years. Art in the Square features two stages with entertainment, a bistro walk with plenty of food and beverages, a fun zone for teens, tweens, and younger kids. The sale will run 9am to 4pm. A large variety of plants will be sold, including perennials, herbs, annuals, and tried-and-true plants grown in the yards of club members. MAY 6 • BOOT SCOOTIN’ SKATE NIGHT • Galleria Dallas continues its series of themed skate nights, this time with a country twist. Gather your friends and glide to country classics from the ’80s to today. Boot Scootin’ Skate Night will take place from 68pm Saturday, May 6, at the Galleria Ice Skating Center. MAY 6 • BOBBYFEST • Bobbyfest started out nine years ago as a backyard music festival hosted by Bobby and Lisa Rawls. In its third year, Bobby decided to leverage the event to raise money for charity. For the past five years, Bobbyfest has served as a charity event honoring Amy’s Wish With Wings—an equine therapy center for kids with special needs. Attendees will enjoy live music, local vendors, auctions, and much more! Join us for Mental Health and Athletes— a panel discussion with athletes about their mental health. Investing in our mental health has become more necessary and more discussed amongst athletes today than in the past. We are fortunate to have many athletes at all levels speaking up about mental health and the importance of it in sports and life. On Tuesday, May 23rd from 7-8:30pm, Dr. Nina Rios-Doria will be hosting a mental health discussion with former professional athletes and others to discuss their mental health journey in sports. The athletes on panel include: James Nitties (former PGA Player), Craig Gentry (former Texas Ranger MLB Player), Tony Casillas (former Dallas Cowboys NFL Player), and (former NFL Player) Louis Trinca-Pasat. They’ll be addressing overcoming injury, transitioning out of their sport, dealing with daily pressures, and more when playing sports and how it affected their mental health. There will be opportunities to ask questions at the end of the interview. Teens, parents and others are welcome to attend this event. May is mental health awareness month.
