NON-PROFIT SPOTLIGHT
Palmer Drug Abuse Program (PDAP) is a FREE 12-step program that has been in existence since 1988 in Hidalgo County and provides support and recovery services for youth, adults, and their families affected by substance abuse.
Today’s youth are experiencing increased exposure to alcohol and drugs while having limited opportunities for drug-free social interactions. PDAP’s youth group program provides a safe, supportive, inclusive environment where teenagers can connect, share their struggles, and participate in 12-step recovery programs. With the guidance of licensed substance abuse counselors, they receive the support they need to overcome substance abuse. PDAP encourages youth to stop by during their downtime, offering activities like games, arts and crafts, basketball, or simply hanging out. Most importantly, PDAP provides a supportive, sober space for meaningful, nonthreatening social interactions.
In addition to offering individual and group counseling services, PDAP is dedicated to community engagement, regularly participating in outreach and educational events to raise awareness about substance abuse. These efforts help to educate our community, prevent substance use and abuse, and connect individuals and families to important resources.
