Visiting: Sofia, Seven Rila Lakes, Rila Monastery, Vitosha, Koprovshitsa, Plovdiv, King Cobra Aqualand, Bachkovo Monastery, Asenova Fortress and Bansko Tuesday 21st August: Meet the tour leader at 1900hrs at the Malta International Airport for checkin on your direct Wizzair flight to Sofia, departing at 2050hrs. Upon arrival, your private coach will take you to your 3* Hotel Budapest for check-in, room allocation and overnight. Wednesday 22nd August: Today, after breakfast, join the tour leader for a full day excursion to Sofia. Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital is also the largest city in the country and it transpires as a dynamic Eastern European capital, distinguished by its unique combination of European and Communist-style architecture as well as many beautiful orthodox churches. Start your day by touring the city on a panoramic tour around the city with more than 8500 years in history under its belt. Visit the most fascinating places of interest with the local English speaking local guide and then head to Serdica Shopping mall for a feast to your eyes with over 210 shops to choose from. Return to your hotel for dinner (optional) and overnight. Thursday 23rd August: After breakfast, join the tour leader on an interesting optional day excursion to the Seven Rila Lakes Region. Without a doubt this is one of the most notable natural attractions on the Balkan Peninsula. Their beauty touches thousands of travellers. Join the tour leader for a cable car ride (included) to the top of Rila Mountain for some beautiful photo opportunities. Later head to Rila Monastery: the biggest Bulgarian spiritual centre since the middle ages. Nowadays, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this monastery houses a rich collection of icons and wall paintings. Return to your hotel for dinner (optional) and overnight Friday 24th August: Today, after breakfast, we offer you a marvellous optional day excursion to the Vitosha Mountain. Here you will visit the Dragalevski monastery founded in the mid 14th century. The murals present within such monastery are of high artist and historical value. Return to Sofia for some free time before dinner (optional) and overnight. Saturday 25th August: After breakfast and checkout, join your fellow group members on a memorable transfer to Plovdiv, but not before visiting the small town of Koprivshtitsa. Situated in a picturesque village amongst the mountains, Koprivshtitsa is one of the most characteristic

Bulgarian towns, still preserving the atmosphere of the Bulgarian National Revival period of the 19th century. The town boasts a large number of architectural monuments from the period, most of which have been restored to their original appearance. Then continue your way towards the beautiful Rose valley, where you will visit the Tarnichene Rose oil distillery, a high quality Bulgarian essential oil producer operating since 1909. Upon reaching your 3* Park Hotel in Plovdiv, immediate check in and room allocation will be done before dinner (optional) and overnight. Sunday 26th August: Today, after breakfast, we offer you an optional day at Plovdiv’s Aquapark, known as the King Cobra Aqualand. Enjoy your day at this ideal place for all the family. A truly incredible water park with an infinite choice of water rides amongst which the jewel in the crown: The King Cobra water ride. This is one of the most extreme slides in the world, receiving many awards and distinctive mentions. Return to your hotel in time for dinner (optional) and overnight. Monday 27th August: Today, after breakfast we offer you an optional full day excursion to Backovo Monastery and the Asenova Fortress. Start your day by a sightseeing tour of Old Plovdiv, before making your way to Bachkovo Monastery. The second largest monastery in Bulgaria was founded in 1083 and houses a much-cherished icon of the Virgin Mary that believers claim was painted by Saint Luke. Later make your way towards the Asenova Fortess. Early incarnations of the structure were built over 8000 years ago but over the centuries various rulers admired its impenetrable position so much that they continued its expansion and thickening its walls to a battering ram proof 3m. Return to your hotel in time for dinner (optional) and overnight. Tuesday 28th August: After breakfast and room check out, join the tour leader for your transfer to Sofia’s airport, but not before a half day excursion to the city of Bansko. Bansko, once a main stockbreeding and travelling community, has become an international centre for winter and summer tourism. The mountain peaks near the town, the numerous lakes and the old pine woods make it a popular site for recreation. Continue your way to the airport for check-in your Wizz air flight back to Malta departing at 1910hrs.
