We took our chances. We risked what we had. But for what?

Many died. Many tried. And in the end, we succeeded. But succeeded in what?

Our ancestors roll in their graves at the thought of what we’ve done.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 gave us what we needed.

De jure segregation was finally rid of our nation. Yet, we stubbornly held onto de facto.

There’s an opportunity to change. Reverse our habits. Rewrite our mistakes. Make Martin proud. Equality yearns for the attention of our nation. Yet, we continue to neglect it. Undoing the work that many strived to accomplish.
