The America then was full of hate Full of discrimination and power struggle Plantation workers and cotton pickers Men and women lynched and killed for no good reason Children not allowed to learn in fear of them being educated An endless cycle of darkness Surrounding the lives of those who were never really sure of what went wrong Never understood why they were treated the way they were But this was considered the “land of the free,” right?

No matter the religion of its people Opportunity for all
This is our America We make the choices We decide who we want to be Nothing is born perfect All beautiful things must be worked for The bald eagle needs to learn to fly before it can hunt The tree needs to sprout before it can grow apples A still lake needs just one rock To start a movement across the whole body of water Our America has its rock Let’s start our movement
