Matthew Flyr Matthew Flyr is from Columbia, Maryland. He is a Nitze Scholar and a cross country runner. He is chair of the student conduct board and member of the Ethics Bowl team. Matthew is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon and Omicron Delta Kappa. After graduation, he will begin a master’s program in agricultural and resource economics at Colorado State University.
Maryland State Society DAR Scholarship Award Presented by Maureen Tipton Established in 1998 to recognize students who demonstrate academic excellence. As of 2014, it is given in honor of Polly Bloedorn, Maryland Honorary State Regent. Brianna Glase Brianna Glase, of Aberdeen, Maryland, is a member of the Dean’s List and an orientation leader. She is a member of the dance club and Circle K. Brianna works as a circulation desk assistant in the library and assists in the lab for behavioral neuroscience.

Petruccelli Memorial Award Presented by Stephen Petruccelli Established in 1981 in memory of John Rocco Petruccelli ’81 to recognize juniors who demonstrate devotion to the College, the cause of education, and responsibility to society. Jeffrey Wyatt Jeffrey Wyatt, from Baltimore, Maryland, is an economics major.
William Thomas Rowe Endowed Scholarship in Art Presented by Jane Rowe Established in 2008 by the Rowe family to benefit art majors. Selection is based on portfolios of work and essays. Benjamin Derlan Benjamin Derlan is from Cumberland, Maryland, majoring in art and environmental studies.
Rhoda-Stark Memorial Award in Gender Studies Presented by Mark Rhoda Established in 2001 in memory of Richard H. Rhoda and John D. Stark by Mark A. Rhoda to recognize students who demonstrate excellence in research, writing, activism, and/or the performing arts that addresses gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender issues.

St. Mary’s County Garden Club Scholarship in Environmental Studies Presented by Loretta Taylor and Duffy Boyd Established in 2005 to recognize students who are enrolled in the Environmental Studies Program and who demonstrate meritorious achievement, character and determination, and financial need with first preference given to St. Mary’s County residents. Sarah Holter Sarah Holter, of Fallston, Maryland, is a member of the Dean’s List and Omicron Delta Kappa. She participated in the All-Student Art Show for three years. She is president of the Chancellor’s Point club and a two-year member of the burlesque club. This summer, she plans to work for the Baltimore Conservation Leadership Corps. After that, she’ll travel and then apply to AmeriCorps programs with an environmental focus in Baltimore.

Adeline Schlussel Adeline Schlussel is from Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She is AVATAR co-president, a Campus Farm manager, and a Nitze Scholar. She is a member of the Dean’s List, Phi Beta Kappa, and Omicron Delta Kappa. She is also a tutor in the Writing and Speaking Center. After graduation, Adeline plans to pursue a career in biology education and research.
