SUMMER SCHOOL Starts Wednesday June 4th through Wednesday July 2rd, 2014. Classes meet Monday through Thursday. Morning classes are from 9:00 to Noon and afternoon classes are from 1:00 to 4:00pm. Students may miss no more than two class periods to receive credit.

English: Prepare for Freshmen Year

Sophomore Theology, 1st Semester: Christology

This course focuses on the core reading comprehension, writing and analytic skills necessary for success at St. Michael’s Catholic Academy. Students will review grammar, paragraph structure, thesis construction, vocabulary, types of literature, and other essential skills. Students will also be introduced to the summer reading text. Math: Algebra Refresher This course reviews the essential skills and concepts from Algebra I. It is intended to fortify Algebra skills ahead of taking Geometry or to review the material before taking Algebra II. It is highly recommended for any student who struggled in Geometry. Math: Prepare for Freshman Year Algebra I This course reviews the Pre-Algebra skills and concepts necessary to take Algebra I. It is highly recommended for any student who struggled in eighth grade math or whose placement testing indicated a weakness in foundational areas of mathematics. FINE ARTS


Summer Theatre Program Summer Theatre is back at St. Michael’s! SMCA Fine Arts is excited to announce that their summer theatre program, Archangel Theatre, will be coming back this July with another Broadway Musical production. The program features top name local musical theatre performers who will be working alongside SMCA students and alumni. This program is intended to provide a preprofessional learning opportunity for interested musical theatre students while producing quality family entertainment that engages our community. The student program is open to all interested eighth-twelfth grade local students, but since there is limited space, SMCA students are given priority. Students can apply for the program as a performer on stage or as a member of the technical crew. For general program questions, audition and tuition information, please contact Mr. Ivan Klousia, SMCA Director of Fine Arts. Payment is due when students are accepted (after they audition). Shakespeare Camp St. Michael’s is collaborating with Austin Shakespeare, to present this week-long, half-day camp. It’s designed to tap into campers’ natural abilities (no previous experience needed here!) and to engage their creative intelligence. Workshop classes include acting, stage combat, text analysis, movement for actors, and design. The session finishes with a mini performance of Shakespearean scenes, staged and acted by campers for an audience of family and friends. The Austin Shakespeare camp will focus on three major aspects of theatre production: Exploring Shakespeare, Basics of Acting, and Ensemble & Collaboration. Payment and registration not received by the deadline will result in a late fee of $50 per course enrolled. “I/We will inform St. Michael’s Catholic Academy in writing if my/our child/ward withdraws at any time. In the event of withdrawal after the first day of school and during the first week of class, I/we agree to pay a withdrawal fee of 25% of the prorated unused tuition. I/we agree to pay any accrued tuition and other charges owed at the time of withdrawal. If my/our payments made for tuition and charges exceed the total of the accrued tuition, charges, and withdrawal fee, I/we will receive a refund of the excess. In the event of withdrawal after the first week of class, I/we agree that tuition is non-refundable and a withdrawal fee will not apply.”

Introduction to Fitness The camp involves basic instruction on weight training and conditioning with a focus on training the young athlete on the proper form. If registering for Strength & Conditioning camp as well, the $50 will apply towards the fee for the S&C camp. Strength & Conditioning Camp The focus will be on strength, quickness and explosive movements. For those in middle school planning to take this camp – it is strongly recommended you complete Intro to Fitness first. The $50 registration will apply towards payment for this camp.
