For the past three years, Smart City has been a proud corporate partner of the Cristo Rey St. Viator College Preparatory High School in Las Vegas, Nevada. The school’s mission is to “educate young people of limited economic means to become people of faith, purpose, and service” and Smart City is honored to be a part of their mission.

Hello, my name is Christian, and I am a sophomore at Cristo Rey Saint Viator. Let me start off by saying that the work program has impacted my life greatly and has opened the door to many opportunities in my future. To further add, I believe this job placement gives great insight into the workforce and what to expect in the future. It has helped me build my soft skills like communication, time management, and listening. I have become more comfortable at public speaking, and I am able to communicate with others confidently in a professional environment. I feel as if I can use software like Microsoft Excel more efficiently. This job placement will also look great on my resume for future endeavors. I am very grateful for the opportunity given to me by Smart City and CRSV because thanks to them, I am now a step ahead in my professional life that will boost me into success later in life. My overall experience at this job placement is very positive and I think it prepares me for what comes in the near future when I apply for a job that I will be working in the summer. Thank you! My name is Katia Madrigal, and I am a student at Cristo Rey St. Viator. I have been part of Cristo Rey since it first opened. I am going to be the first class graduating in 2023. Cristo Rey has a program called Corporate Work Study Program which is a program that partners up with workplaces that improve your skills and knowledge. Begin part of Cristo Rey taught me many things such as not being nervous to ask questions, improving my education, and how to be professional at a workplace. In my freshman year I had the opportunity to work with Nevada State Bank. I was scared at first but got the hang of it though out the months I was there. I learned to file, scan, and the importance they have for their clients. Then Covid-19 hit and the lock-down begin. So, for my sophomore year we were preparing ourselves for the next job opportunity. My next job opportunity is getting the chance to work with Smart City. Smart City also started with us since Cristo Rey first opened in 2019. What I know about Smart City is that they provide data networking, telecommunications services for convention centers, and servicing hospitality. What I have seen from Smart City is that they make sure to put your priorities first and that tasks are done before the deadline. Those who have worked longer for Smart City make sure you are welcomed and show the importance you have being part of Smart City. Smart City has taught me to improve my Excel, showing dedication in projects, and helping one another to grow as a company. Having these opportunities helped me by improving my work ethics and using the knowledge that I gain to use later in my future career.
