NEIGHBORHOOD SPOTLIGHT
Auchentoroly Terrace Too Much of a Good Thing BY DAN MIDVIDY
A
mong a city of hidden gems, Baltimore’s Auchentoroly Terrace neighborhood stands out. Straddling the southwest corner of Druid Hill Park, Auchentoroly Terrace fronts the Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens and the Maryland Zoo. Capped by the Shaarei Tfiloh synagogue with its expansive copper dome and visible from much of the City, and the campus of the Parks & People Foundation to the North, it would be understandable if outsiders felt Auchentoroly Terrace had more than its fair share. And in fact, it does. It boasts an abundance of greenery, open spaces, nature and architectural beauty. Equally significant, it hosts a community of neighbors looking to make Auchentoroly Terrace even better, even more welcoming. Its homeowners are an eclectic community of artisans, school teachers, dentists, retired persons, doctors, civic leaders, and city and state employees. WINTER 2020 -2021
