Dear Friends,

Welcome to AMDG: CASHBAH 2023!

Whether you are joining us tonight in the Si Commons or following along virtually, it is my pleasure to welcome you to what promises to be an extraordinary evening.

CASHBAH is so many things. It’s an auction, a gala, a St. Louis U High tradition, a celebration of community, an unforgettable party. It’s a night filled with good food and good drink, good laughs and good company.

At its heart, though, CASHBAH is an expression of the love we all have for SLUH. Many months of loving dedication from countless volunteers – spearheaded by our tremendous co-chairs Bridget DuMont and Karen Zenor – will culminate tonight, all to the benefit of our nearly 1,000 Jr. Billikens.

The funds raised from CASHBAH are crucial to our ability to meet the needs of all families. This year, we will provide $4.9 million in needbased financial aid to 46 percent of SLUH families. Thanks to your generosity, we can enthusiastically and confidently serve students based on their ability to succeed at SLUH without regard for their families’ economic circumstances.

I am humbled by your generosity and invite you to help us ensure that tonight is an unforgettable evening dedicated AMDG…to the greater glory of God!

Welcome to AMDG CASHBAH 2023 at St. Louis U. High!

When Fr. Richard Bailey, SJ started CASHBAH more than 50 years ago, he wanted to help young men of promise receive a premier education at SLUH. Today, the event enables SLUH to conduct need-blind admission so all qualified students can attend, regardless of economic circumstances.

About half of the student body receives financial assistance, thanks to the generosity of people like you. Your investment in a SLUH education has a ripple effect — it supports our Jr. Bills of today as well as their impact on the world tomorrow.

It was our distinct honor to have been part of the storied CASHBAH tradition, one that relies on the generosity of so many individuals in our community. We extend our deep gratitude to:

• Committee chairs and volunteers who dedicated many hours to make this a successful event.

• SLUH Advancement, Facilities and Environmental Services staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure CASHBAH runs smoothly.

• Sponsors who responded overwhelmingly to the appeal for support by contributing more than $500,000.

• Alumni, parents, SLUH faculty/staff and friends who donated their time, talents and resources to provide truly unique and amazing auction items.

Thank you for supporting CASHBAH and the SLUH Jesuit mission of forming Men for Others — For the Greater Glory of God.

Gratefully,

Thank you Karen and Bridget YOUR DEDICATION AND LEADERSHIP HAVE MADE CASHBAH 2023 UNFORGETTABLE!

• All sales are final. No exchanges or returns, unless specifically stated.

• All gift certificates, trips, parties or services must be used by April 1, 2024, unless otherwise specified by donor.

• Failure, for whatever cause, to arrange a trip, meal, party, etc., within the time limit and according to the specified conditions and/or limitations, imposes absolutely no obligation for a refund by the donor or by St. Louis University High School (SLUH). Sale to another party by the winning bidder imposes no obligation on the donor or SLUH.

• CASHBAH strives to be as accurate as possible in listing donors and apologizes for any errors. When a donor is listed as “Friend of SLUH,” either the donor prefers anonymity or the gift was purchased with money from either gift gathering parties or cash donations.

• All goods and services purchased at CASHBAH will be used at the sole risk of the purchaser and neither CASHBAH nor SLUH will be responsible or liable for any damage or injury occurring to any user of said purchased goods and services. All items are sold “as is,” and neither CASHBAH nor SLUH makes any warranty or guarantee as to the merchantability or suitability of any such items.

• CASHBAH is a charity auction for the benefit of SLUH and is a taxexempt charitable organization as described in Internal Revenue Code Section 501c (3). Direct donations to SLUH qualify as charitable contributions from the donors and are deductible for income tax purposes to the extent allowed by law. Patrons are asked to view the auction’s policies and procedures with this in mind and to join in the charitable spirit of this event. In accordance with IRS regulations, the successful bidder of each item will be given a receipt that states the school’s good faith estimate of the actual value of the item for the bidder’s income tax records.

GENERAL
AMDG
INFORMATION

•Please be advised that Internal Revenue Service rules require the taxpayer to substantiate charitable donations with a written acknowledgement from the charity. The amount of your purchase at CASHBAH that may qualify as a charitable contribution is limited to the excess of the amount of the purchase price over the fair market value of the auction item you purchased. Please consult your tax advisor as to the deductibility of your donation. If the purchased item consists solely of intangible religious benefit, it is regarded, for tax purposes, to have no fair market value, and will, therefore, be regarded as a charitable contribution.

• The Internal Revenue Service does not regard the purchase price of a raffle ticket to constitute a charitable contribution.

PICKUP AND SHIPPING GUIDELINES

For purchases not picked up the night of the auction: Purchased items will be available for pick up at SLUH on the following dates: Wednesday and Thursday April 12 and 13 3:30 - 6:00 p.m.

For purchasers who live outside the Metropolitan St. Louis area:

AMDG FUND-A-BILL

The financial aid program at St. Louis U. High benefits every single Jr. Bill – past, present and future – because welcoming students from zip codes throughout the Metro area and across the socio-economic spectrum enriches the SLUH experience for all clubs, all sports teams, every class, our collective faith life and the entire SLUH experience.

Your generous support of Fund-A-Bill during tonight’s Live Auction will benefit every student. Yes, some directly more than others. But it is no stretch to say that the very heart of SLUH depends on your support.

AMDG is an abbreviation of Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, a Latin motto of the Society of Jesus. It translates “for the Greater Glory of God.”

Tonight, we come together as one St. Louis U. High community in a spirit of gratitude and generosity, dedicated to the Greater Glory of God!

1. The live auction is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and continue until all items have been sold.

2. Please use your assigned bid number, which can be found on your table.

3. Acceptance of a successful bid by the auctioneer is binding.

4. Collect your ”winning items” in the rooms posted to your item number(s).

5. Have fun! Thank you for making a difference in the lives of young men who would otherwise not be able to attend SLUH!
