Hair Care

in the pantry?

by Margaret DeStefano

With so many hair care products on the market today, no wonder it is easy to be confused. A number of inexpensive and time tested hair care aids can be found right in your kitchen pantry. Here are a few to get you started:

1) Cornstarch: For a fast, dry shampoo, spread cornstarch into your hair; leave it on for 5 minutes, then brush it out. 2) Lemon Juice: Use as a rinse after shampooing to lighten and brighten blond hair. Squeeze the juice of one lemon into a cup of water and work into hair. Rinse with water. 3) Vinegar: To make brunette hair shine, mix 1 tablespoon of vinegar in a cup of water; apply and rinse with water. 4) Mayonnaise: To condition hair so that it's smooth and shiny, coat hair with mayonnaise, pin it up, and wrap in plastic wrap. Leave on for 30 minutes, then shampoo.
