Kansas State University’s 106th Homecoming celebration was in the spotlight Oct. 24-30. The week-long celebration is sponsored by the Alumni Association. Every year, a studentdriven committee prepares for the weeklong celebration. This year’s theme was Lights, Camera, ’Cats! The week began with a 5K Run/Walk benefitting Pawnee Mental Health Services, which serves 10 area counties providing an array of services which promote mental health. Students competed in events throughout the week including Pant the Chant, Paint the ’Ville, Wildcat Request Live and more. Dr. Kyle Goerl, K-State’s Lafene Health Center medical director, served as the 2021 Homecoming Parade grand

marshal. “Dr. Goerl has made tremendous contributions to K-State, especially during the pandemic,“ said Amy Button Renz `76, `86, president and CEO of the K-State Alumni Association. “The coronavirus created many unique needs and Dr. Goerl stepped up and answered the call. The All-University Homecoming Committee wanted to recognize him with this honor in appreciation for all that he has done for K-State, the Big 12 and the greater community as a whole.” The week ended with a 31-12 football victory over TCU. At halftime Stacia Mendoza, junior in finance, Lenexa, Kansas, and Josh Diazdeleon, junior in elementary education, Liberal, Kansas, were named the 2022 K-State Student Ambassadors.
