HOW DO THEY stay

in shape?

Dita Von Teese

Penelope Cruz

Modus Operandi: Ritualistic blender of greens and doer of Pilates.

Modus Operandi: Celebrator of homeland cuisine and shaker of booty.

Diet: Though Dita is spoiled by the fine fare available to her, she loves nothing more than the transformation of vegetables into inspiring dishes. She sips daily green smoothies and The Beauty Detox Solution is one of her favourite books to cook from at home. “Avocados with various exotic sea salts are one of my favorite snacks,” she told Grub Street.

Diet: The Hollywood life has not tainted the Madrid-born actress’s love of Spanish food. “My diet is the Mediterranean diet, which is good food,” Penelope told Celebrity Health & Fitness. She can credit her complexion to good fats from nuts, olive oil, avocado and lean protein, with plenty of vegetables, seeds and beans on the side.

SLIM digs into the diet and workout regimes of some seriously smoking celebrities.

Fitness: Cinching her waist into a corset for her burlesque shows could be enough exercise for any of us, but to keep her pin-up figure, Dita does Pilates every morning.

Fitness: Penelope likes to dance up a sweat – something we only hope she does with hunky husband Javier Bardem. The mother-of-two also enjoys yoga, Pilates and running, undoubtedly performed while looking unachievably stunning.

Joan Smalls

Irina Shayk

Modus Operandi: The sugar addict you don’t want to mess with. Diet: The natural sweet-tooth has to drop her lolly bag in the lead up to the laciest night in her calendar, the Victoria’s Secret show. “I could eat sweets every day,” Joan told Elle US, but she swaps it for fruits and vegetables during VS preparation. Fitness: While Victoria’s Secret Angels look effortlessly perfect on the runway, it takes a lot of strength to hold up those heavy wings. To be an Angel, you have to sweat like one. Joan probably does more cardio than the average woman on her catwalk stints, but she has fallen for the art of Muay Thai. She switches it up with trainer Marc Gordon and completes the trio of activities with reformer Pilates.

Modus Operandi: Everybody knows that girl who gets away with eating everything.

Miranda Kerr

Pia Miller

Modus Operandi: Devout yogi super-fooder.

Modus Operandi: Salad loving balancer of life.

Diet: “I’m a certified health coach in integrative nutrition in the US,” Miranda told Body + Soul. She avoids sugar and wheat on a regular basis, but won’t knock her grandmother’s pavlova. The superfood lover focuses her diet towards nutrient-dense acai, maca, vegetables, nuts, fruit and lean meat. Fitness: Miranda credits yoga for her toned figure and for easing jet lag. “I’ve been practising a mix of Hatha and Kundani yoga for 15 years,” she says. The daily exerciser likes to mix it up with running, walking, Pilates, resistance training and planking. Prayer and meditation also form part of her daily ritual. 80 SLIM MAGAZINE WINTER 2016

Diet: “I’m a model but I love to eat,” said the Russian uber-model in an interview with People magazine. She credits her blessed genes for her impeccable physique and boosts her body beauty with exercise. Fitness: Irina enjoys nothing more than strapping her fists and getting her punch on with her boxing trainer. She also dabbles in Jiu Jitsui, which she has formed an obsession for. “You have to find the best workout for your body,” Irina says. “You have to balance between eating and working out.”

Diet: “We eat as raw as we can, eat lots of greens and fish and try to limit meat and heavy dairies,” the Chilean-born Home and Away star told Women’s Health & Fitness Magazine. Nutrition is key to feeling good and ensuring her sons resist the junk food temptation. Fitness: The self-proclaimed sleep advocate combines high intensity cardio with weights, performing a delicate balancing act with low impact yoga and Pilates. The Kaya Health Club devotee partakes in specialised yoga, but enjoys the variety the gym offers, often jumping from treadmill, to bike and to classes.
