Senior Exams: Faculty may choose to exempt seniors from second semester exams for year‐long classes if they meet the following criteria for the second semester: 1. 2Students must have no more than five absences for the second semester. Pre‐ approved college visits will not be counted toward the total of five. All college visits must be pre‐arranged, in writing, and approved by the Dean of Students. School related absences will not be counted toward the total of five. 2. Students must have no more than five tardies for the class during the second semester. 3. Students must earn a 90% for the course when Quarter 3 and Quarter 4 are averaged to be exempt. Graduation Requirements: SAEA offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum. In order to graduate, students must earn 20* credits as prescribed in the course selection guide, as well as 20 hours of community service for each year of high school at SAEA. Community service hours are pro‐rated at 10 hours per semester for high school transfer students. Students must be enrolled a minimum of two semesters and have a minimum of 2.0 overall unweighted cumulative GPA in order to be eligible to receive a SAEA diploma. In addition, students are required to apply to and be admitted to at least one 2‐ or 4‐year college or university to graduate from SAEA. * If a student elects to graduate using the State of Florida Accelerated Program they may graduate with 18 core electives at a GPA of 3.0 or higher. High School Portfolio: During their freshman year, students will be given guidance in the creation of a resume for use in college applications, summer programs, and internships. Homework: Students are issued a student planner at the beginning of the school year. Homework is also posted online through RenWeb and should be checked daily. Make‐up Work: Tests, class work, homework, notes or other work missed as the result of absence must be made up. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange a time with each teacher to reschedule tests. High School:  Students are allowed one day for each day absent to submit work assigned during an absence.
