THe plOugH AND THe STArS Enniscorthy Drama Group will stage The Plough and the Stars by Sean O’Casey in The Presentation Centre from 18th to 21st June at 8pm with an extra show on Friday 26th June in St Brigid’s Hall, Carnew. Under the directorship of Jimmy Kavanagh this production is sure to have Enniscorthy audiences both laughing and crying as this tragic four-act play portrays the lives of families living in a tenement house in Dublin in 1915 and leads up to the Rising of 1916. CONgrATulATIONS  Congratulations to the Moyne Rangers under 13 league winners.  Congrats to Sean Ryan who lives in Cork and who made the Irish under 18 basketball team recently. Sean is the second son of John Ryan who is a native of Enniscorthy. Sean is a cousin of Wexford hurler Liam Ryan. Well done Sean.  Well done to the Davitt Country Band on getting a best Country Band award recently.  Best wishes to a new drama group in Wexford town. Raven Theatre are doing two plays – their debut play is Family Plot with another play to follow in August. So welcome Raven to the drama world.  Shamrock Rovers who beat Northend 4-1 in the Wexford Cup.  We l l d o n e t o G o r e y Rangers who won the youths league recently.  Ladies soccer – congratulations to Benfica and Saint Cormacs AFC on recent

successes.  Two shops in town have relocated their business to bigger premises recently. The NCBI shop – Mrs Quin’s charity shop has relocated to Cathedral Street and Finnegan’s Findz has relocated to Castle Street opposite Mary Elizabeth’s in the former premises of Miu Miu. Best of luck to both.  We at Slaney News always like to see new businesses come to town – big or small, and we like to wish them well. A new e-cigarette shop has opened recently on Slaney Street. Mizzoni’s Pizzas has opened in Templeshannon and a new cake shop has opened its doors in Templeshannon also.  Due to space restrictions we no longer have room to print names for birthdays. Organiser Joe Doyle (with various contestants and boutique participants) presents Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland Wexford Branch Secretary, Claire Whelan, with a cheque for €2,340, the proceeds of a successful recent fashion show, at a presentation event in Unique Boutique, Enniscorthy.

A cheque for the proceeds of the recent cystic fibrosis fashion show was handed over by event organiser Joseph Doyle on 22nd May to the Co. Wexford branch of the Cystic Fibrosis Association of Ireland. The cheque for €2,340 was accepted by branch secretary, Claire Whelan, at a gathering

in Unique Boutique, Enniscorthy. €2,340 is an incredible amount to raise so well done to Joseph and his volunteers. Best of luck to the 26 Wexford women who are running for cystic fibrosis in the women’s mini-marathon on June 1st in Dublin. n
