Appeal For Loch Lomond Cycling Fundraiser
“Thanks to the generous support of various individuals and businesses, including Startline Motor Finance, we have been able to provide disabled and disadvantaged young people with memorable experiences. It costs £450 to sponsor a young person for our respite trip, and Startline generously funded the trip for all the children including the cost of their clothes”.

Active Wellbeing and Respite Experiences (AWARE) Scotland was set up in 2022 to provide disabled and disadvantaged young people with opportunities to focus on their physical and mental wellbeing through day trips and excursions.

Christopher Glancey of AWARE Scotland said: “One of the great things about our charity is that many of our young people are dealing with difficult situations at home, and our outings and trips provide them with a break from the stresses of life. It also gives them a chance to make new friends”.
Monthly outings offer activities such as climbing Conic Hill, attending football games, and visiting trampoline parks. The aim is to allow young people to have fun with peers of similar ages, regardless of their backgrounds or needs and up to 60 young people and volunteers have joined the outings.
Chris continued: “Our respite trips to Aviemore involve three nights of fun activities, including canoeing, walking and visiting an adventure park with slides and a ropes course. These trips provide young people with a break from home and the opportunity to try new experiences. We do not charge for any of our outings or trips, and all funds raised go towards covering our costs.
Skypark-based Startline Motor Finance is a leading provider of finance solutions to the UK motor finance market.
Michael Gallagher of Startline Motor Finance, a founder and volunteer with the charity said: “AWARE allows us to support the young people in our community who need it most. Our monthly events and respite trips are only possible with the continued help of our volunteers and the generosity and support that we continue to receive. I am proud to play a small part in our ever-growing community and would urge anyone who would like to get involved or knows of a young person who would benefit to please get in touch via our website: www.awarescotland.co.uk
AWARE Scotland has also launched an appeal for donations to fundraise for a respite trip to Aviemore in September. A fun sponsored cycle from Glasgow to Loch Lomond took place on 10th June. Please visit the Just Giving page to make a donation:
The Step Count Challenge
The Step Count Challenge is Paths for All’s popular workplace walking challenge. Teams of five from workplaces across Scotland sign up online to track and record their steps, compete with other teams on the leaderboard and challenge themselves to move more during the working day. There are two national challenges a year, one in spring (eight weeks) and one in autumn (four weeks). Bespoke Step Count Challenges are also available for workplaces who would like to organise a challenge exclusively for their workplace, at a time and date that suits them.
