17 May 2013 Social Impact Careers Day

WELCOME

Welcome to Saïd Business School’s first Social Impact Careers Day! The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and the Careers Centre at Saïd Business School are delighted to welcome you to LAUNCH! This inaugural event is a result of the enthusiasm and interest of students within the Business School and across the University of Oxford toward accessing careers with impact. We have brought together speakers from impact finance, traditional third-sector roles, social enterprise and more, and we hope that there is at least one person in the spotlight today who will help LAUNCH your career plans within the sector! Here are two aspects of the day that we are excited about: Candid panel discussions: We have asked the broad range of speakers in our nine panels today to be very candid about careers in the social impact area within which they work. We hope this event helps you understand the realities of the job market in the area you are exploring as well as tips for how to begin and progress your search. Small group sessions: In addition to panel discussions with potential employers, recent graduates and recruiters, the day will include small group discussions with one or two panelists and about ten students. These 45-minute breakout sessions, which are pre-assigned, will allow for a more in-depth discussion about careers and goals. Resume review and interview practice: Between 12:40-14:40 we will have an opportunity for students to meet with a presenter to get feedback on their resume, do interview practice, or just have a tenminute conversation about a topic in which they are interested. We hope today proves informative and useful! Thank you for joining us.
