Welcome to steamboat
Greetings from the number-two most vibrant small town for arts and culture in the USA (according to SMU’s Creative Vitality Index). Steamboat Springs ranks #1 on arts and culture organizations and fourth on concentration of independent artists, per capita. This town is thriving with arts and culture, including art galleries, opera, music, dance, theater, distilleries, breweries and unique architecture and design. Local organizations have been hard at work making improvements, Kim Keith, executive implementing safety measures and enhancing their online director of Steamboat programming providing a full range of activities. After more than Creates a year of closures due to the pandemic, museums, galleries, music performances and other cultural institutions have their doors wide open to visitors and patrons. We are now fully embracing in-person events. Like physical exercise or a good night’s sleep, the arts prove to be important to our health and wellbeing.
We are thrilled to share our creative spirit with everyone who lives here or visits the area. Arts, culture and heritage are deeply entrenched in our community’s identity, resulting in a memorable and unique sense of place. As we look to the past, we celebrate the work from the Ute and Fremont Indigenous peoples who created artwork on rocks and in caves while the first settlers brought painting supplies and an organ upon their arrival. As we look at today’s creative landscape, we boast creative activities from opera, theater, symphony, dance and music festivals to a multitude of galleries, filmmakers, authors and designers. And as we look to the future, we welcome everyone to participate with us regardless of experience or talent. Join creators, feed your curiosity and get inspired. Celebrate arts’ enduring importance, resiliency and vibrancy to connect us on a meaningful level that sets Steamboat Springs apart from other small towns in Colorado.
