THE BIG WHY? SKINS ENGINEERED GRADIENT COMPRESSION TECHNOLOGY The compression in SKINS isn’t evenly distributed over the body. Instead, we use a gradient compression profile that has been engineered to apply the highest level of compression at the extremities (e.g. calf) and gradually decrease up the body towards the heart. This graduated profile aids circulation, helping to move blood back to the heart more efficiently. This is what we call Engineered Gradient Compression. SKINS DYNAMIC GRADIENT COMPRESSION TECHNOLOGY SKINS Dynamic Gradient Compression takes our Engineered Gradient Compression Technology one step further. Muscles expand and fi ll with blood whether they’re in slow movement or fully engaged in activity. Therefore, we’ve biomechanically designed our garments to flourish under the dynamic demands of motion as well as in various stages of recovery. This keeps our compression profiles consistent and your performance level maintained, whether you’re in action or recovering. PRECISION FIT At SKINS, we don’t believe that one size fi ts all. If compression is too tight, it can restrict blood flow and if it’s too loose – then there’s not much point wearing it. We use body mass index (BMI) measure- ments to determine the best size garment for every individual to ensure optimum compression and comfort. So for tights, size is determined by height and weight and for tops, it’s determined by your chest circumference. With our K-PROPRIUM and 400 Series ranges we took sizing one step further. After undertaking a 3D body scanning study of hundreds of amateur and professional athletes we established 400 key fi tting points (from more than 800,000 measure ments taken of each person) and these form the basis of our K-PROPRIUM, A400, RY400 and TRI400 garments. As well as enabling us to maximise the benefi ts of compression during activity and recovery, this research allowed us to ensure ultimate comfort of our garments. TEMPERATURE REGULATION, MOISTURE MANAGEMENT AND UV PROTECTION Both temperature control and moisture management are taken care of in the K-PROPRIUM and A400 ranges with a cutting edge technology out of Switzerland: ADAPTIVE by HeiQ. At low temperatures, the unique polymer binds moisture
in to keep you feeling warm and dry. It will then adapt, as you get hotter, by releasing the stored moisture to the surface where it evaporates; helping your body cool down the way it would naturally. If you’re not sweating, you’re not working out hard enough, but nobody likes to feel wet and sticky. SKINS moisture wicking fabric is independently tested and proven to actively draw sweat away from the skin to the outer surface of the garment where it evaporates, to keep you dry. Mesh panels, strategically placed in high sweat zones, allow for increased breathability where it’s needed most. SKINS garments have been independently tested and proven to provide 50+ UV protection in non-mesh areas. WARP KNIT TECHNOLOGY SKINS fabric is warp knitted using multiple fi ne quality yarns for added strength. Our warp knit fabric has been developed to include our own Elastane mix so it delivers specific levels of elasticity and perfectly controlled compression, guaranteeing your SKINS return to their original tension and shape. The warp knit structure is also highly durable. A-SEAMS Ultimate comfort is delivered through flexible, flatter seams in our K-PROPRIUM, A400 and RY400 garments. The A-Seam was developed specially for technical athletic wear – its sleek construction means it sits comfortably against your body to eliminate chafing.It’s also 30% stronger than an overlocked stitch, making your SKINS even more durable. BONDED HEMS Highly elastic bonded hems use an adhesive film in place of stitching, resulting in a streamlined look and even more comfortable fit.
