Art Show

The St Kevin’s College Art Show is a prestigious, professionally curated, nonacquisitive art prize and exhibition of contemporary art organised by the College parent association, Friends of Art.

One of the longest running award exhibitions of its kind, the Art Show attracts professional and emerging artists from across Australia, all vying for the esteemed awards and generous prizes.

In 2021, the Art Show will celebrate 50 years! Friends of Art invite all St Kevin’s parents to join them to mark this exciting ‘golden’ milestone. Art Show opening night (this year on Friday, May 21st) is a highlight of the parent social calendar and a key feature of the rich tapestry of experiences that enrich life at the college.

Throughout its 50 year history, the Art Show has undergone many evolutions, growing in both scale and ambition, and exhibiting more than 600 works at its peak. It has been reimagined and reinvented over the generations by the art-loving parent committees, to remain relevant and vibrant for the College.

The golden anniversary Art Show will transform the Smith Hall into a beautiful contemporary gallery space from May 22-24. All works will be for sale, and there is literally a quality work of art to suit any range of taste and budget.

To mark the 50th anniversary, Friends of Art have also invited celebrated Melbourne painter and St Kevin’s alumnus Andrew Taylor to develop a unique limited edition print which will also be available to purchase. Andrew has generously offered to donate all profit from sales.

Money raised from the art show is donated to the St Kevin’s College Foundation, which provides bursaries for boys who may not have the means to receive a St Kevin’s College education. Friends of Art are very excited to be presenting the 50th Art Show this year and look forward to sharing the joy of art with St Kevin’s parents, students, teachers and the wider community.
