Hibernation to Jubilation: The Stage is Set

After a dormant 2020, we have emerged from hibernation, rolled up our sleeves, and are spinning the 2021 Fair into full-fl edged fury. The Skagit Fair has endured two world wars, the great depression, droughts, doubts, and the Spanish fl u. As the longest running festival in Skagit County, we have emerged from a hiatus with renewed enthusiasm and steadfast determination. The stage is set, the carnival is in place, the vendors are ready, the bands are tuned, the tents are erect, and the animals are kicking at the barn doors with excitement.

After the Spanish fl u swept through the US in 1918, a renewed energy spurred the roaring twenties— rousing greater innovation and a passion for music, arts, and creativity. A year of refl ection brings resurrection and the 2021 Fair will be the perfect venue for reconnection. The 2021 Fair sets the transformation process in motion as our cocoons dissolve and we focus on our summer Fair freedom fl ight, complete with funnel cakes, French fries, fajitas, and other fair food favorites. And if you’re into gardens, we have what ales you-- complete with a libation for your hydration. Pitch back a beer and engage in a double dose of corn near the stage—a Skagit Fair activity better known as the cantina ‘corn’er special. Where else can you stuff back a footlong corndog while tossing a game of cornhole?

The Skagit Fair promises a howlin’ good time with a full four days of burgeoning bands, fi red-up farm life, clever crafts, greasy grub, riveting rides, and fi fteen acres of fun. We have brought 130 years of entertainment to the people of Skagit County and look forward to bringing another 130 years. Come join us as the gates open on August 11--14, its going to be a show for the books. Brian Adams Director Skagit County Parks & Recreation
