EMERGENCY AND ACCIDENT POLICY

All St. John's School staff members carry valid CPR and first aid training. Each classroom has procedures posted for emergencies. Faithful Beginnings at St. John the Baptist Catholic School will keep record of any emergencies, accidents and injuries that occur. Emergency and accident policies will be in compliance with the state licensing guidelines. Staff persons are available during all hours of operation to administer first aid. Classroom teachers and aids may be assisted by the school health paraprofessional and/or the office staff.

Rooms and outdoor play areas will be inspected for potential hazards. This inspection includes the school entrance, halls and rooms including lavatories that are used by preschool students. Anything that would be a hazard to the safety of the children will be removed or repaired.

The school will conduct monthly fire drills and 5 lockdowns as well as one weather drill per school year and log the dates and times of each drill. Maps for evacuations are posted in each room.

Staff will be trained annually and conduct an annual review of St. John the Baptist Catholic School and Faithful Beginnings Preschool Emergency Response Plan. Training will include instruction of the use of a fire extinguisher.

Authorized Pick-Up

Every family will complete an authorized pick up form. Only those persons listed on the form will be allowed to pick up a child. If an unauthorized person attempts to pick up a child, program staff will detain the person and notify the proper authorities.

Because of this, in this instance, the following procedures will take place: ○ The child will not be allowed to leave. ○ The principal or pastor will be notified. ○ The police will be called if the principal or pastor cannot remedy the situation.

If no one comes to pick up a child: ● The parents will be called. ● The emergency numbers will be called. ● The police will be called after 30 minutes ● $1.00 per minute will be charged.
