Along the way the team has made San Jose one of the top soccer destinations in the United States. World soccer stars like George Best and Landon Donovan, along with homegrown Bay Area talent like John Doyle and Chris Wondolowski, have donned the Quakes jersey. San Jose was the site of Major League Soccer’s Inaugural Game in 1996, while also serving as host of the MLS All-Star Game in 2001. The club has a championship tradition, having captured the MLS Cup Championship in both 2001 and 2003. Now, the San Jose Earthquakes enter a new era in their history as they move into their own home. The Earthquakes New Stadium will become not just the place where the Quakes play their home games, but where soccer lives and breathes in Northern California.
