Opposing Forces

W

hen a pitcher throws a ball, it’s obvious that there’s a lot of force behind the action. But there’s force behind every action, and behind every pose, no matter how small. Identifying those forces is the job of the figure-drawing artist. By using lines of force and thrust to our advantage, we can create poses that are compelling and even dramatic.
