Beste vrijwilliger, Het zomerseizoen 2014 is weer begonnen! Alle projecten die SIW dit jaar aanbiedt staan weer op de website en de aanmeldingen stromen binnen! We hebben dit jaar wederom een ruim aanbod: meer dan 2.000 projecten in 77 bestemmingen!

Wat zijn nu de mogelijkheden voor vrijwilligerswerk wanneer je nog geen 18 bent ? Voor deelnemers jonger dan 18 jaar, biedt SIW speciale zomerprojecten voor jongeren aan. Dit zijn groepsprojecten waar je samen met een groep internationale vrijwilligers 2 ĂĄ 3 weken aan het werk gaat. Deze tienerprojecten vinden voornamelijk plaats in Europa en zijn toegankelijk vanaf 14, 15 of 16 jaar. Alle mogelijkheden voor 2014 staan nu op onze website en een groot deel staat ook in deze tienerprojectengids. De opzet van sommige van deze projecten is grotendeels hetzelfde als alle andere projecten, alleen wordt meestal minder lang gewerkt en is er meer tijd voor excursies en groepsactiviteiten. Als je aan een jongerenproject wilt deelnemen ben je verplicht een voorbereidingsdag voor groepsvrijwilligerswerk te volgen. De voorbereiding zorgt er voor dat je optimaal bent voorbereid, dat je meer uit je project haalt en dat je op een gezellige manier mensen leert kennen die ook een project gaan doen. De eerstvolgende mogelijkheid om deel te nemen aan een reguliere voorbereiding is 19 april 2014. Daarna zijn er nog voorbereidingsdagen op 21 juni en 25 oktober.

Hoe schrijf je je in voor een project en wat zijn de kosten? Je schrijft je online in voor een project door middel van het inschrijfformulier op onze website. Je betaalt dan â‚Ź 225,- inschrijfgeld (voor studenten en jongeren onder de 18 jaar). Voor dit geld krijg je in het desbetreffende land kost en inwoning en in sommige gevallen ben je verzekerd voor ongevallen. De reis en de reisverzekering regel en betaal je zelf. Alle bovengenoemde kosten zijn onder voorbehoud. Voor de projecten is een beperkt aantal plaatsen beschikbaar. De projecten in Europa zitten snel vol, dus wacht niet te lang met aanmelden en geef bij voorkeur een 2e en 3e keuze op! Dus hoe eerder we voor je kunnen gaan bemiddelen, hoe groter de kans is dat je in het project van je eerste keuze kunt worden geplaatst. Zodra je inschrijfgeld en inschrijfformulier binnen zijn, kunnen we voor je gaan bemiddelen. BELGIE

Name: Domaine de Mozet Code: CBB14/05 Date: 05/07/2014-19-07-2014 Number of volunteers: 12 Nature of the project: TEEN-ENVI-MANU Additional costs: 150 € Age: 15-17

The local partner The Domain of Mozet is an old castle-farm dated back to the 11th century. Now more than 10 hectares with mini-farm of horses, bees, geese, rabbits and a square-shaped castle are available for meeting and lodging kids to discover the biodiversity of the Nature. The Domaine offers the ‘green classes’ for pupils – special programs for 3-4 days dedicated to history, forest, wild and domestic animals, seasons’ changes etc. as well as animation – constructing huts, games and so on. About 7000 visitors per year. Besides, thanks to its features it is fit for youth groups: youth movements, schools, theatre or sports groups for their activities. Its natural and historical background is outstanding and it should endure forever. For that reason, Mozet can be considered as the center of ecocivism. It is based on ecology and good citizenship while coping with different aspects of the environment. All of us should be aware of the place which we occupy in the biosphere and accept our responsibilities concerning the present and future community. To enter a sustainable world, it also means to transform this knowledge into respectful behavior towards the environment. As the citizens of the world, we are all invited to act in this way; each human being must take care of the Earth, our common residence. Don’t hesitate to check the web-site (in French) www.mozet.be Work With the help of technical leaders, volunteers’ team will conduct various outdoor work: renovation of the goats’ shelter, construction of a Zen garden, as well as various maintenance: weeding, pruning, size hedges... ATTENTION: the work can be physically demanding & will only outdoors. Accommodation and food Housing inside the castle. In 2 dormitories. Shower, toilets are at the same floor, next to the room. Bring a sleeping-bag. Your team will cook together each day. If you follow a special diet, let us know in advance, please. Variants are possible. Location Mozet is situated just 12km away from Namur, 100-thousands inhabitants city. Nevertheless, the Domain is well hidden in countryside and surrounded by charming valleys, forest and typical villages. The closest train station is 5km away from the castle. Special requirements Volunteers are asked to take working clothes as well as shoes, boots will be perfect. Think as well to bring rainy clothes in case of wet weather. Sleeping bag is necessary. Name: Domaine de Chevetogne Code: CBB14/11 Date: 01/08/2014-16/08/2014 Number of volunteers: 12 Nature of the project: TEEN-ENVI-MANU Additional costs: 150 € Age: 15-17 Project Le Domaine provincial de Chevetogne is a big centre for environmental education and social tourism. There is a huge park situated on 550 acres and a modest castle. Pupils from primary and secondary schools come there to participate in activities that focus on discovering the nature and rural way of life. During the summer, many kids and families make a oneday excursion to the Domaine or stay there for holidays to do sports, picnics, observe nature. Motivated and professional staff from Le Domaine de Chevetogne hopes to share their passion for the environment with international volunteers. This year workcamp will be running for the 5th time. PRE-CAMP SESSION INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT DURATION Location : Marche-en-Famenne Dates: from Friday 1st to Saturday 2nd of August Purpose: the pre-camp gathers the volunteers from several different projects. The participation in the pre-camp is compulsory and free of charge. It is a unique opportunity for the volunteers to meet and to attend different workshops on group dynamic, intercultural education and volunteering awareness. The pre-camp lasts from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, the volunteers will travel together to their camp location (the cost of this train ticket is covered by CBB). Work With the help of technical leader, the volunteers crew will take care of objects constructed by previous workcamps : cut branches, painting older wood construction. ATTENTION: This workcamp is only based on manual and outdoor tasks and the work might be exhausting sometimes. Food and Accommodation In a cottage with two dormitories, beds, a kitchen and a bathroom with hot shower. Self-catering, enjoy the kitchen life and bring your favourite recipes! Volunteers must notify beforehand about specific diet. Location Le Domaine de Chevetogne is located in a deep countryside. By choosing this workcamp, the volunteer decides to live in the nature. All around, there are fields, woods and small villages. Wild animals (deer, foxes or wild pigs) are very close. As the domain is also a tourist center, there are plenty of opportunities for entertainment: outdoor swimming pool, football fields, minigolf, and tennis or basketball playgrounds… During the weekend, it will be possible to organize cultural visits and to travel to the biggest Belgian cities. The town of Ciney is 10 kilometers away from the Domain of Chevetogne. From there, it is very easy to reach bigger urban centers such as Namur (25 km), Brussels (80 km) or Liège (90 km). http://www.domainedechevetogne.be/ - check for nice pictures and general information. Specific information There will be limited Internet access during the camp available just from time to time.

Number of volunteers: 12 Nature of the project: TEEN-ENVI Additional costs: 150 € Age: 15-17 The project You will work for the local section of NATAGORA organization. NATAGORA is the biggest Belgian environmental organization. Their aim is to stop the loss of biodiversity and to get back to a good general condition of nature, in balance with human activities. Work With the help of technical leaders, the volunteers will do some outdoor tasks: pruning, cutting invasive trees, building nests with branches for the future relocation of snakes and vipers, maintenance of bicentennial oak ... These beautiful places being in nature, you’ll go everyday with your tools in the workplace on foot. ATTENTION: This workcamp is only based on manual and outdoor tasks and the work might sometimes be exhausting. Food and Accommodation You’ll sleep in a house in a small village near Bouillon. Breakfast and dinner will be provided in the cottage and lunch will be taken in your workplace. Volunteers must notify beforehand about specific diet – vegetarian or Muslim if any. Location The small village of Vresses-sur-semois is located in the south of the country (near the French boarder). It’s located in the deep countryside (about 30 km of the city of Bouillon). During the weekend, it will be possible to organize cultural visits and to travel to the bigger Belgian cities. Gedinne train station is 20 kilometers away from your house. From there, it is very easy to reach bigger urban centers such as Namur, Brussels or Liège. Specific information There will be limited Internet access during the camp available just from time to time. Please take working (trousers or blue jeans) clothes and shoes with you a– boots are just perfect. Check if you have something suitable for a rainy weather. Name: Dornstetten (Baden-Wurttemberg) Code: IBG T01 Date: 20/07/2014-03-08-2014 Nature of project: RENO/TEEN Number of Volunteers 12 Additional costs: € 120 Age: 16-17 PROJECT For the first year, the city of Dornstetten and the local youth centre called “Powerpoint” would like to welcome a team of international volunteers to their community. The youth centre is located in the old train station building and offers various leisure activities for all children from the first class and youngsters. WORK Your task will be to renew and to repair the youth centre in Dornstetten. Tasks will include different kinds of renovation work, like plastering and painting. The team will receive the support of local youth, offering a good chance to interact closely and get to know locals of the same age. The working times will be in the afternoon and all working days will be finished off with a common meal. The locals are looking forward to a cooperative effort with the volunteers! ACCOMMODATION The international group will live in the youth centre, where you will find all sanitary facilities (apart from showers!) and a kitchen. Camp beds are provided but please bring your own sleeping bag! The volunteers will have access to the showers in the local swimming pool building, situated close-by the youth centre. LOCATION Dornstetten is a small town with 8000 inhabitants and it is famous for its old town centre, featuring traditional half-timbered houses. Dornstetten is surrounded by a beautiful, and varied, natural landscape. It is perfect for walking, biking or hiking! Nevertheless, Dornstetten is situated close-by many larger towns, including: Freudenstadt (approx. 6 minutes distance); the city Karlsruhe (approx. 2 hours distance); and Stuttgart (approx. 1 hours distance), the capital of Baden-Wurttemberg. Name: Visualize the rights of the child! Nuertingen (Baden-Wurttemberg) Code: IBG T02 Date: 20/07/2014-04/08/2014 Nature of project: MANU/TEEN Number of Volunteers 15 Additional costs: € 120 Age: 16-17 PROJECT The town of Nürtingen looks to bring awareness to the rights of children with the help of international youngsters. The aim is to make the different articles of children’s rights visible and understandable. The volunteers will work on this topic with the children, and therefore, stay in contact with locals! WORK The visualization of the rights of children includes much creative work, for example: the designing of tshirts and bags, the development of pictograms, the preparation of a bench’s foundation, and mosaic work. Furthermore, the group will complete some active work, like the collaboration in cultural festivals, the presentation of the work’s results, and the participation in other activities. The volunteers will work in a cultural, social and ecological centre, which is called “AlteSeegrasspinnerei” (old spinning of seagrass). There, you will get the support of artists and pedagogues. Please be aware that the work will be challenging at times! ACCOMMODATION Please bring your own sleeping bag! LOCATION Nürtingen is a beautiful old town with approx. 40,000 inhabitants and is directly situated on the Neckar River. There are many bicycle and hiking trails around Nürtingen. It is also possible to visit the close city of Stuttgart, the capital of Baden Württemberg, and Esslingen, a quaint, medieval town with traditional German architecture. Name: EXPLORE YOUR NATURE Code: IJGD 14227 Date: 02/08/2014-16/08/2014 Nature of project: EDU/TEEN Number of Volunteers 18 Additional costs: € 345 Age: 14-17 WORK What do you do when you get stuck? Here, your group will always find a way through! Whether you need to cross a river with a self-made rope bridge, or ford the river with a self-made raft, climb, bike, or sleep in a nature camp—the path is your goal! If you love to move, enjoy being outside, and love a good adventure, then you’re in the right spot! Together with at team from the Gruene Grashalm e.V. organization, you will follow the motto “Life is an Adventure” and have two unforgettable weeks. You can also gain some craftsmanship experience. The adventure education facilities and the outside grounds are large and there is always something to do there! You will also help with a few tasks to maintain the building. www.go-outdoor.de ACCOMODATION You will share rooms. During your nature trips you will sleep in tents. Catering: Meals will be provided, but you will help cook LOCATION Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania; Wismar 20 km TERMINAL: Wismar FREE TIME Adventure education doesn’t just start in the morning and end in the afternoon. All offerings have a sense of leisure to them. Together you will hike, bike, and canoe to get to know the area, visit the Hanseatic city of Wismar, swim, and sit around the bonfire in the evenings. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS At least a basic knowledge of English. You must be able to bike and swim well.

Name: FOREST ADVENTURE AND SURVIVAL TRAINING Code: IJGD 14212 Date: 10/08/2014-16/08/2014 Nature of project: ENVI/TEEN Number of Volunteers 23 Additional costs: € 180 Age: 14-17 REMARKS The camp will only be held if at least 12 people take part. For this reason firstly only reservations can be made. When there are 12 reservations made (or latest in the end of May) we can confirm the participation of volunteers. Please don’t buy train/flight tickets until you get the definite confirmation that the camp takes place!!! WORK If you enjoy being outside in nature and spending evenings around a bonfire, all while discovering and working in the forest together with international youth, then you’re in the right spot! This camp is at the Hahnhorst Forest Educational Center (Waldpaedagogikzentrum Hahnhorst), where you will learn to orient yourself in the forest (geocaching), recognize edible plants, make a fire without additional tools, make an overnight shelter out of natural materials, and sleep outside. One day of this week is reserved for practical forest work. You will learn about the relation between nature and a day’s work for foresters and other forest workers. Name: MAKE CULTURE IN A FACTORY WITH OTHER YOUTH Code: IJGD 24344 Date: 23/08/2014-07/09/2014 Nature of project: STUD/FEST/TEEN Number of Volunteers 14 Additional costs: none Age: 16-17 WORK The Youth Cultural Factory (Jugendkulturfabrik) is a youth center with a band rehearsal room, sound studio, hip hop station, art studio, climbing hall, wood workshop, cafÊ, a meeting area with foosball, and a legal graffiti wall. All of this will be open to your group and you should get involved in the various activities. Your creative, athletic, musical, and artistic skills are needed! Please bring dances, music, and recipes from your home countries. At the end of the camp, there will be an open air festival, where you will present your creative ideas! The youth center will be open during your camp, so you will get to meet local youth at the center and work on your act for the festival with them. You will be encouraged to work with them and branch out from the workcamp group! The workshops take place in the afternoons, so you will have time free in the mornings and then work in the workshops from 14:30-18:00. ACCOMODATION You will be staying at the Youth Cultural Factory Youth Center (Jugendzentrum Jugendkulturfabrik). Catering: Meals will be prepared as a group LOCATION Hesse; Frankfurt 100 km, Wurzburg 100 km, Giessen 100 km FREE TIME: In Fulda you can go for a swim, shop, visit cafes and theaters. The youth center offers plenty of leisure activities as well as various workshops so you’ll never be bored! Travel opportunities include nearby cities such as Frankfurt, Kassel, Wurzburg, Marburg, and Mainz, and you can also go on trips along the Roehn River. TERMINAL Fulda SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS A knowledge of German is desired, a knowledge of English is required. REMARKS Alcohol is not allowed at this camp.

Nature of project: STUD/TEEN Number of Volunteers 50 Additional costs: € 280 Age: 14-19 Work In the program there are diverse activities: windsurfing, canoeing, sailing with Viking boats, paintball in the forest, sport games - football, rugby, volleyball, athletics, different competitions, guided eco-hikes, sport orientation, ATV rally on forest trails, bicycle trips to explore the area, table tennis, visit to the horse farm with horse riding, excursion to Keila waterfall and historical places of interest in the area, picnics on the seaside, evening of Estonian national dances and food, making castles from sand and stones on the beach, fanny party with Estonian sauna, night cinema in open air theatre, Estonian police`s fanny lesson - Feel like a real cop, etc. You can also try to make wooden and woolen handicrafts and kitchen utensils, learning folk dances. In addition there will be creative work-lessons on manufacturing sheath-knife´s case from natural leather and decorative burning (scorching) on the leather; decoupage; soap-making. Bikes are available for the whole duration of the shift. Please note, while all above is included to the camp fee bus excursion to Haapsalu to see Episcopal Castle (www.haapsalulinnus.ee ) and visit to Old Railway Museum, attendance of Roosta Adventure Park attractions, net-fishing, water-rides by scooter with banana is at additional modest fee. WORK The main work this year will be restoration jobs at the historical church and church yard. In addition to this, there will be some voluntary work such as painting of community buildings, making wooden toys and games for local orphanage, repairing benches and tables, cleaning local beach and old seaport from garbage, planting trees, little renovation works in the local school, clearing pavement, helping seniors living in the community with some household duties, berry picking and transfer of the crop in a orphanage, planting trees. The work will be organised in close cooperation with local forestry department, municipality of Nova and local school. Accomodation and food ACCOMMODATION In the military and tourist tents by the local school near to the seaside (100m). It is also possible to have accommodation in wooden houses for modest extra charge - 20 Euro per shift. Sleeping bag and mat are needed. All facilities like showers, toilets are provided in the school. You will also try traditional Estonian sauna. CATERING Three times a day. Menue has vegetables, fruits, berry juices. There are multiple water machines with cold water in the school complex. Catering takes place in the school´s mess hall or into the lager tent outside near the mess. Meals are cooked by professional cooks. Participants will be asked to help cleaning.

Location & leisure Location Nova is one of 11 municipalities of Laanemaa with about 400 inhabitants, located on the seaside 90 km west from capital of Estonia Tallinn and 40 km north from Haapsalu, famous spa town with many histoirical and cultural sites. Please inform us beforehand about allergies or dietary requirements you have. Please bring sleeping bag and mat, wind and waterproof clothes, goods shoes, warm and summer clothes. The main age of participants is 14-19, however exceptions are possible. Smoking, drinking alcohol, using drugs is absolutely prohibited in the camp! Camp languages are English and Russian. PARTICIPATION FEE Unlike the “normal” camp there will be not so much of traditional work. Nevertheless participants will be provided with board, lodging, local transportation and all equipment necessary to realize camp program. Obviously, program involves a lot of extra costs for excursions, trips out, visits, sport activities, equipment, materials and general administration. Since neither EstYES nor its local camp partner, does not receive financial support for this camp from municipality or private sources, to realize this camp we have to charge participation fee of 280 Euro, which has to be paid by participants upon arrival to the camp or by bank transfer before the camp. It includes transfer from Tallinn to and from the camp. Meeting point Terminal and arrivals/ departure Airport, bus station, harbor in Tallinn; specially arranged bus to Nova. Pick up on arrival to Tallinn is possible at additional fee. NB! On arrival day there is a dinner, accommodation in Tallinn-lodging for the night at the gym of sport club. Showers and WC are in the facility of the gym. On the 2nd day there is a breakfast at 8 am and departure to camp site. On the last day of the camp there is a breakfast and departure at 11.30 am from the camp.

Name: KOPU Code: EST T7 Date: 30/06/2014-13/07/2014 Nature of project: TEEN/MANU Number of Volunteers 25 Additional costs: € 220 Age: 14-17

Work Kopu Primary School occupies old German manor house surrounded by the large park. There will be various jobs in the school park, around the school building and other important places in the community - mainly clearing and tidying up of the park as well as other objects such as public playgrounds, local graveyard, surrounding of newly opened visiting centre etc. Another important work is preparing woods for the school heating in winter period. In cooperation with Tipu Nature School volunteers will have the opportunity to help out there for one day – that gives you the chance to see a bit of Soomaa National Park that is situated just next to Kopu Municipality. Work will be mainly outdoors. Volunteers will be working along side with local youngsters of the national camp. The work will last 4 hours a day from 9am until lunch. After lunch there will be diverse activities together with local youngsters and free time for the group own activities. The age of local young people is 14-26. Accommodation In the Kopu school sport facilities. Vounteers will sleep in beds. Mattresses, pillows, blankets will be provided but please bring your towels. Toilets and showers are available. Meals will be prepared by kitchen staff and are served in the school canteen twice a day, dinner will be brought to the sporting centre. Location and leisure Kopu village lies about 20 km to the west from Viljandi, an administrative centre of the county with population of 22 000 people. Distance from Tallinn is 180 km. The area is very beautiful - hilly with many small lakes and rivers and a lot of forest with wild nature. Here begins Soomaa National Park – a very popular place for hikes and canoe trips. LEISURE Sport activities at accommodation site, competitions, swimming, barbeque, hiking and canoeing in Soomaa National Park, visits to the places of interest in the area. Afternoons and evenings are filled with trips to different cities in Estonia to get to know Estonia and its culture better. Work This camp is organized by the Helsinki City Youth Department. The volunteers will work on the Bengtsar Island by refurbishing and doing maintenance such as hay cutting and woodwork. Volunteers will also have a possibility to get to know Finnish culture and the capital city because the first and the two last nights will be spent in Pakila Youth Centre in Helsinki. The international volunteers will work alongside Finnish young people. Activities The accommodation for the first night will be at the Pakila Youth Centre, the next six nights volunteers will stay at the camp island Bengtsar and the final two nights they will be back in Pakila. In another time Lestiac had 2 docks for the transport and the fishing boats and there was a lot of activity in this river. Today, some friends, in love with the river, have decided to rehabilitate the dock for the respect of its history, with the support of the municipality. A huge work (but always with good spirit) has been started by the volunteers of the association « La Cale » (the dry dock). Everything is set by them so that everyone can have active participation in the renovation of the dry dock and create strong links with the river Garonne heritage. The project created by Concordia with the community of villages of Vallon d'Artolie, Lestiac and the association « La Cale » will enable the renovation of local heritage and motivate the exchanges between local population and international volunteers. Several exchanges will be organised between local youth and the workcamp. WORK You will participate in the restoration of a dry dock of the river Garonne. Traditional masonry work. WORK The aim of this work camp is to create a big fresco for the wall of a covered playground in a primary school of the town. The topic of this fresco will be worked out and decided before by the pupils of the school and their leaders. With young people from the local community, volunteers will be then involved in the design and the painting of this fresco. ACTIVITIES Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet people from the local community and to explore its th surrounding areas, including the town's dedicated space for young people. The 14 July is the French national holiday, as such there will be a variety of celebratory events on this day. Natural harbours mean picture-postcard fishing villages and seemingly never-ending roads cross the region, providing beautiful sweeping views. “Fjarðabyggð" is an association of villages in the Eastern fjords of Iceland. It includes the towns of Eskifjörður, Fáskrúðsfjörður, Mjóifjörður, Neskaupstaður, Reyðarfjörður and Stöðvarfjörður, all tiny fishing villages with steep mountains towering just behind the houses. In this area you will see some of the features that make Iceland a unique place in the world: spectacular fjords with a rich sea life, a great variety of birdlife, and countless breathtaking hiking paths. You will explore the area during your stay in the east. WORK Our teenager’s camp aim is to provide fun and educative time for the young participants. During the 12 days program participants will have the chance to get to know Icelandic nature, history and people. The Team leaders of these camps will be trained on how lead teens of this age and oriented them into how to be a part of the daily community life in a camp. The young volunteers will follow a program which is a mixture of environmental voluntary work and games. We will also go for hikes to discover the fantastic landscapes in the East of Iceland. The volunteers will also help with renovation and environmental work in the area. PROJECT The association Artemide for years proposes itself as crossroad of experiences in the educational field, the EDUC-active project has as primary objective the education to the independence, the young people, above all if carriers of uneasiness, are stimulated and motivated asking them to be active part in the process of theoretical construction and practice of the activities. The idea of organising this work camp is the answer to several needs of our association, first of all to make the House laboratory Cerquosino a place where different culture can gather and contribute to create a better place for the ones that will be hosted here in the future. WORK The volunteers in collaboration with a member of Artemide association will be involved in two different tasks: the renovation of the furniture giving importance to the recycling and reuse of materials and the re–planting of the green roof. The house has got 1 single room, 1 triple room, 1 dormitory with 8 bed and 1 dormitory with 6 bed. A common bathroom with 3 toilets and 3 showers. Washing machine is not available. No internet line available. LOCATION The work camp will be held at the House laboratory Cerquosino that is located on the Peglia Mountain, in the countryside 25 km away from the town of Orvieto in one of those disadvantaged and poorly productive areas that are nearly preserved intact until today. PROJECT The cultural Association MUSA proposes and organises this workcamp together with the local Proloco. Our Association mostly carries out musical events. The “Infiorata” is considered as a very important event by the local community which is totally involved in arranging it. All the pictures made of flowers finally create a sort of “flowers carpet” for the “Corpus Christi” procession. In a certain way, the decorators will “paint using flowers” and they will realize this wonderful flowers carpet that will be successfully trampled by the parish priest while carrying the consecrated during the procession Host throughout the village. In the past 10 years the decoration techniques have improved so much till making possible to consider the flowers carpet as a real work art. WORK The volunteers will support the INFIORATA event helping the locals in picking the flowers, preparing the petals and designing the paintings. The volunteers will be also asked to perform small maintenance works for the village renovation. They will work about 5 hours a day, early morning so to skip the hot sun. The work with flowers or other materials is not real hard, but needs patient and must follow the weather. LEISURE AND FREE TIME: Volunteers will have free access to the public swimming pool during the whole workcamp duration and will join trips to the surroundings. One of its suburbs called San Francisco has approximately 450 housings of social type and complementary buildings. This population was taken there from their caves where they lived. This was the beginning of their marginalization, cause they are separated of the rest of the city and have less possibilities to get basic services. These families have a lot of children, and the volunteers have to offer them, a new and wide vision of the world. Volunteers will work with minors of ages between 4 and 16 years, carrying out different playful and recreative activities, since they are: workshop of traditional games, swimming pool, papiroflexia, trencadis, paper, grazes of salt, ceramics, painting, etc. ACCOMODATION Volunteers will be accomodated in a school, sport centre or similar in Villena. The town is under UNESCO protection with a lot of tourists during the summer. The project is dedicated to renovation and environmental activities on the historical Calvary of Banska Stiavnica. The project is run together with Kalvarsky fond and local scout group and the workcamps have been organized on Calvary since 1999. WORK The work will be done at the Calvary – mostly environmental and manual activities – picking the stones, cleaning the place, and cutting. The volunteers will help with the manual and gardening works in the area of Scout House. ACCOMMODATION The volunteers will be accommodated in the Scout House, 2.5 km away from the Calvary. Sleeping bags are needed. The volunteers will sleep on the place called “airport”. The Scout house has got very nice garden right under the Old Castle. The volunteer are going to prepare food by themselves. Breakfast and dinners are at the Scout House and the lunch will be served at the place of the work. Vegetarian food is possible as well. There are going to be some participants every day who will prepare meals for the others. LOCATION AND LEISURE The old mining and gold city Banska Stiavnica is located about 180 km east of Bratislava. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains and nature. Banska Stiavnica is very interesting city from a historical point of view. The whole city is like a giant hill. Banska Stiavnica is old mining town with several museums, castles. One day trip will be organized to the Johnson Controls company in Lucenec and to visit the town of Lucenec. Terminal Airport, bus and train station, Bratislava, Banska Stiavnica bus station. Please keep in mind that the journey from Bratislava to Banska Stiavnica takes for app. 4 hours. So please plan your journey to Bratislava with arrive in the morning. REMARKS You should bring sleeping bag, warm clothes, raincoat, working clothes and gloves, swimming suit and a smile on the lips. The participants will use their creativity & express their ideas to write their scenario, act, shoot and direct their films in this camp. Besides, the daily program of the camp may consists of different activities like sports, arts & crafts, creative drama, music, etc. One day is reserved for an excursion with an extra cost of 15 €. Turkish & international volunteers will be leading or assisting the daily activities. Afacan Youth House is a place where GENCTUR hosts various voluntary and youth camps. The campsite is a secure place and participants will not be allowed to leave the camp site on their own.
