Context + Strategy. 1
The site context exposes the shortcomings of the neighbourhood and its lack of community amenities. The supermarkets and libraries are not within walking distance to the site so we wanted to provide these gathering spaces within the confines of the “urban village”.

The key thesis of the project culminated by the ability to push the ADA Accessibility codes to the maximum to cater for the engagement for all.highly inclusive and exploratory.
It curates a unique experience throughout the historic Carnegie Library, while gracefully engaging with the minimal but intentional intrusion of the extension.

High Performance Building Testing
Climate Optimizing
The project focuses on high performance design by using climate data to inform form and material decisions. The design primarily looks at the envelope design to maximise cross ventilation in such a large campus office space in the heart of highly dense and humid Hong Kong.
*Optimal East - West Orientation.
High Temperatures = High Cooling
Varying Humidity = Moisture Capture
*Double Facade to adapt to passive heating and cooling.
High Percipitation = Waterproof Barriers
*Aerodynamic form

Orientation
Studies show a higher passive design rate to optimally orient the building at 0 Degrees. (Air Current from the East)
Higher Level (6-8/F) Floor Plan.
Air Tightness
The Infiltration for the humid climate needs to be quite high thus will need a minimum of 0.08 ACH.
Window: Frame with 2 seals
Construction
Because Medium Construction is the most appropriate in the humid context, the building uses CLT as core material.
Shading
Since Hong Kong is very warm the shading device needs to cover the roof so Awnings and Overhangs would be optimal.
Interior Allocations
The plans represent the open floor plan organisation to maximise cross ventilation through the two blocks.
The way it is oriented it also maximises natural sunlight during office hours.
