Resurrection Lutheran Church God’s people sharing the Good News of Christ’s love in word and deed.

You are invited to join us in an exciting and joyful life in Jesus Our Savior and Lord!

We believe that God gives us peace, everlasting life, forgiveness of sins and faith in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We have

We believe Christians are called to tell others that the only way of salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ, and to show their faith by their deeds of love towards others. We believe we are citizens of the Kingdom of God who want all people of all nations to experience God’s blessings in Jesus Christ both now and forever!

Good News For you! Jesus says following words: “I am the Resurrection and Life.” Pastor Steve Waterman was installed on Sunday, August 1, 2021. He was not interested in religion as a child and later became an atheist. However, while he was in high school, some friends shared the gospel of Christ with him. The Lord radically got hold of his life and brought him the gift of salvation through faith.

“I have come that they may have life, We have and have it to the full.” Good News For “Come to meyou! all you who are

weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

He has served as a Missouri Synod Lutheran Pastor for 20 years after his pastoral ministry with Calvary Chapel in Downey, California. While at Calvary Chapel, Pastor Steve and his family went to live and serve in Sri Lanka, equipping pastors on how to study and teach Holy Scripture. He is currently involved in jail/ prison ministry and numerous other community activities and responsibilities.

Please join us at 85294 Highway 101 South, about a mile south of the Siuslaw Bridge. Sunday Bible Study – 9:00am Sunday Worship Services – 10:00am Office - 541.997.8038

CROSS ROAD ASSEMBLY OF GOD

C

ross Road Assembly is a thriving and active church in Florence, founded in 1935 and affiliated with the Assemblies of God in 1945. It has been an active Christian influence in Florence and the Siuslaw Valley all 84 years of her history. Its mission is to be a point of connection between Christ and the world. To engage the community with a relevant message of hope, grace and love. To be a sending point of teaching, training and launching people into life experience ministry in the workplace, school and community. Cross Road has a variety of ministries that reach the youngest to the oldest in the community. It also has an excellent team of workers to teach a variety of ages the life changing message of Christ. The church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, the largest

Protestant Pentecostal Movement in the world. Its members are actively involved in missions that reach and teach people both at home and around the world.

You can expect friendly and authentic people, engaging and relevant music and worship, compelling preaching from the Bible, and an opportunity to encounter God. You can expect to find a place where cre-

ativity and fellowship come together to worship God in new and exciting ways. You can expect to be encouraged, challenged, excited and, most importantly, welcomed. Florence Evangelical Church Everyone’s story is connected to God’s story. Everyone has a relationship with Jesus. It may be far away, very close, or somewhere in between. Our mission is to help people move closer to Jesus. We do this through praying, caring, and sharing as God leads, empowers, and gives opportunity.

“How’s it going, family? My name is Tim. Together with my wife Angie and our three kids, we are happy to call Florence our new home. I am passionate about Jesus and helping others experience the hope that I’ve found in Him. My firm belief is that no matter who you are, or what you’ve gone through, God loves you, hopes for you and God has chosen you to be a part of His family. Whenever you’re free, hit me up and I’d love to grab some coffee or some grub and get to know you better.” Pastor Tim Walls

Heart for the Community Chartered in 1982, Florence United Methodist Church has always had an “outsize” impact in its community. The people who worship in the little building with the steeple on Second and Kingwood are leaders in scores of community organizations – from Habitat for Humanity to the Siuslaw Public Library. Its own sponsored ministry, Free Lunch, a twiceweekly fixture for more than 26 years, has switched gears to provide vouchers for meals at Subway during COVID19 restrictions on use of its buildings. While in-person worship in its church building is temporarily suspended, Florence UMC is being “church” with on-line, on-demand weekly worship and a virtual coffee hour on Zoom. The church provides instructional and devotional materials, including video on the Internet, at no cost. Florence United Methodist is a proud member of the Reconciling Ministries Network, an international movement within the Methodist Church, to affirm, support and welcome all under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. It is truly a church of open minds, open hearts, open doors.

NEW LIFE LUTHERAN CHURCH New Life Lutheran is an excellent choice for people looking for a church home that is friendly, spiritual, and dedicated to the principles and teachings of Jesus Christ. While providing strong spiritual teaching, Christian support, and fellowship opportunities for the congregation, New Life Lutheran is dedicated to serving the community through outreach. The church was in the grass roots movement to establish “Food Share” to feed the hungry in the Florence area. Food Share is thriving on church property. “Habitat for Humanity” is another important local service that the church helped pioneer in Florence. They

build and restore homes for people with modest incomes. New Life Lutheran member Alice Brauer established the first Christian preschool in Florence in the early 1970’s. The preschool, now called “Bright Beginnings”, occupies the Alice Brauer education wing of the church building. The church also provides support to Siuslaw Outreach Services who provide a variety of services to under-served people in the community. Sunday worship services are at 10:30 a.m. Go to the church website for the newsletter, video recordings of worship services, helpful links, and other information: www.lutheranchurchflorence.com

New Life Lutheran is located at 21st and Spruce Streets. For more information call 541-997-8113
