Il Museo Civico Archeologico di Marciana è il primo a nascere sull’isola, nel 1968. Conserva i reperti elbani più antichi, a partire da testimonianze di preistoria locale. The Museo Civico Archeologico at Marciana was the fi rst to be established on the island, in 1968. It contains the oldest fi nds from Elba, starting from prehistoric life in the local area.
Il museo è dedicato all’Elba occidentale. Offre un viaggio attraverso i secoli, con i suoi reperti provenienti dai più antichi insediamenti isolani, attraversando paleolitico e neolitico, l’età del ferro e quella etrusca, per arrivare a quella romana. Il percorso espositivo evidenzia anche il rapporto con il mare, grazie ad una sezione dedicata ai relitti rinvenuti nella baia di Procchio.
The museum covers western Elba. It offers a journey back over the centuries, with fi nds from the island’s earliest settlements, both Palaeolithic and Neolithic, through the Iron and Etruscan Ages, to the Roman era. The visitor experience also highlights the relationship with the sea, thanks to a section on the wrecks discovered in Procchio bay.
