Junior Golf Lessons

The Sioux Falls Tennis Association (SFTA) provides progressive lessons for children (ages 4–18) and adults at various tennis courts around the city. The goal of the SFTA tennis program is to either introduce participants to the sport of tennis or improve the skills of players with previous experience. The only equipment needed for lessons are tennis shoes and a tennis racquet, which will be provided if you do not have one. Details and registration will be online at www.sfta.net.

For beginner and intermediate golfers, ages 7 to 17

10 & Under Tennis

PLAYer and Par Levels

The SFTA uses the 10 & Under Tennis format which uses equipment and court sizes appropriate to a child’s size and age. With this format children, will start playing tennis quicker, experience greater success, and have more fun. Weber Family Novice Tournaments

July 7 and 8 and August 10 and 11 at Laurel Oak, McKennan, and Kuehn Parks, all day. Instructors will have information at each site prior to the events.

USTA Junior Team Tennis

This program is an alternative or an addition to lessons for Intermediate and Advanced Juniors who are match/ tournament ready. Details online at www.sfta.net.

Adult Leagues

The Sioux Falls Tennis Association offers singles and doubles leagues at all skill levels for men and women who are 19 years of age or older. For complete league information, go online at www.sfta.net.

Huether Family Match Pointe

Huether Family Match Pointe (HFMP) is a public indoor tennis center which offers daily drills, leagues, and lessons to adults and juniors. Open court time is available for the flat rate of $5/hour per person. For additional information or questions, please call 338-4036 or go to www.playthepointe.com.

Rally for the Family

Come join the fun! The family event is free and focuses on tennis for all ages, in addition to families spending time together in fun, healthy activities. The event is Saturday, May 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Huether Family Match Pointe. Registration for tennis programs is also available on this day.

The First Tee of South Dakota® is a nonprofit organization devoted to improving the lives of young people by providing educational programs and learning environments that promote character development, positive values, and healthy habits all through the lifelong sport of golf. No young person will be turned away from The First Tee of South Dakota due to an inability to pay. Equipment is available at no additional cost. When: Mondays—June 6, 13, 20, 27; July 11, 18, 25; August 1, 8 Cost: $99. Financial assistance is available. Sessions: 8–9:15 a.m., 9:30–10:45 a.m., 11 a.m.–12:15 p.m., or 12:45–2 p.m.

Teen-Only, for PLAYer and Par (Ages 13–17)

When: Tuesdays—June 7, 14, 21, 28; July 12, 19, 26; August 2, 9 Cost: $99. Financial assistance is available. Time: 11 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Birdie Level

When: Tuesdays—June 7, 14, 21, 28; July 12, 19, 26; Aug. 2, 9. Cost: $103. Financial assistance is available. Sessions: 8–9:15 a.m., 9:30–10:45 a.m., 11 a.m.–12:15 p.m.

Eagle Level

When: Wednesdays—June 8, 15, 22, 29; July 13, 20, 27; Aug. 3, 10. Cost: $103. Financial assistance is available. Eagle Level Sessions: 8–11 a.m.

Girls-Only, For PLAYer and Par (Ages 8–17)

When: Wednesdays—June 8, 15, 22, 29; July 13, 20, 27; August 3, 10 Cost: $99. Financial assistance available. Times: 9–10:15 a.m., 10:30–11:45 a.m.

Little Duffers Program (Ages 5–7)

The Little Duffers Program is for children ages 5–7. The Little Duffers Program will provide the juniors a fun and safe environment in which to learn the basics of golf. Clubs are available at no additional cost. Class sizes are limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help our program be more successful, we do encourage parents to volunteer for at least one of the classes. When: Session 1— June 7, 9, 14, 16 Session 2—June 21, 23, 28, 30 Session 3—July 5, 7, 12, 14 Session 4—July 19, 21, 26, 28 Session 5—August 2, 4, 9, 11 Cost: $55. Financial assistance is available.
