l frente, una plaza que conserva las huellas de tantas jornadas históricas para el país. Detrás el río, esa ruta hídrica que utilizaron los españoles para colonizar estas tierras. En medio de ambos escenarios, el Centro Cultural de la República El Cabildo, un imponente edificio de estilo neoclásico de dos plantas, fachada asimétrica y una galería con diez arcos, es testigo emblemático de la vida política del país. A lo largo de su existencia esta representativa institución ha tenido diversos asentamientos. El origen de su actual sede se remonta a la época del presidente Carlos A. López, quien lo utilizó como Palacio de Gobierno. Su construcción fue encargada al ingeniero húngaro Francisco Wisner de Morgenstern, en 1847, finalizando en 1854. Durante décadas aparecía en las postales de fulgurante blanco y hasta el 2004 fue sede del Poder Legislativo. Actualmente, es un importante espacio cultural donde se pueden apreciar reliquias del pasado artístico del Paraguay. Cuenta salas museísticas que abarcan el arte indígena, sacro colonial y popular. También se puede apreciar la historia de esta edificación, gran símbolo del poder civil. Contiene además la memoria de las artes escénicas con afiches de puestas teatrales que marcaron época y retratos de destacados trabajadores de las tablas en el país. Entre ellas, la muestra permanente en homenaje a la actriz Edda de los Ríos recorre su vasta trayectoria a través la recopilación de fotografías, documentos e impresos. Otro espacio interesante para los turistas nacionales y extranjeros es el dedicado a la música nacional. Aquí se pueden ver partituras originales de

n front, a plaza that preserves traces of so many historic days for the country. Behind is the river, the main route used by the Spanish to colonize these lands. Between both stages, the Cultural Center of the Republic, The Cabildo, an imposing, two-floored, neoclassical building, with an asymmetrical facade and a gallery with ten arches, is an emblematic witness to the country's political life. Throughout its existence, this representative institution has had several uses. The origin of its current location dates back to the time of President Carlos A. Lopez, who used it as the Government Palace. The Hungarian engineer Francisco (Franz) Wisner von Morgenstern was commissioned to build it in 1847, with construction ending in 1854. For decades it appeared on postcards, a gleaming white, and until 2004 was the seat of the Legislative Branch. Currently it is an important cultural area where you can Paraguay's artistic past. It houses museum halls displaying indigenous, sacred colonial and popular art. We can also appreciate the history of the building, a great symbol of the civil authority. It also contains the memory of the performing arts with posters of plays that defined the era and portraits of prominent stage performers of the country. Among them, the permanent exhibition in tribute to the actress Edda de Ríos which covers her lengthy career through a collection of photographs, documents and prints.
Another interesting area for domestic and foreign tourists is the area dedicated to music. Here you can see original handwritten scores, musical instruments, publications and awards given to the great authors of Paraguayan music. Creations by Mauricio Cardozo Ocampo, José Asunción Flores, Herminio Giménez, Remberto Giménez, Juan Carlos Moreno Gonzalez, among others, are some of the artists whose legacy can be seen in this room. One of the attractions deserves a special mention: The golden globe of the world awarded by Philipps of Holland to singer Luis Alberto del Paraná for having sold nearly 20 million records.

El Cabildo puño y letra, instrumentos musicales, publicaciones y premios otorgados a los grandes autores de la música paraguaya. Creaciones de Mauricio Cardozo Ocampo, José Asunción Flores, Herminio Giménez, Remberto Giménez, Juan Carlos Moreno González, entre otros, son algunos de los artistas cuyo legado puede apreciarse en esta sala. Mención especial merece una de las atracciones: El Globo de Oro del mundo otorgado por la Philipps de Holanda al cantante Luis Alberto del Paraná tras haber vendido casi 20 millones de discos. Dentro del recorrido hay otro apartado que resultará bastante interesante conocer y es ideal en estos momentos en que el cine nacional ha sido el boom del año. La sala de cine y video Alma Paraguaya contiene las memorias de las producciones cinematográficas en el país, distribuidas en rollos de películas y afiches de producciones memorables como El trueno entre las hojas. El nombre de este sitio es un homenaje a la primera producción audiovisual hecha por paraguayos, la cual retrataba la peregrinación a Caacupé. El Cabildo es un emblema del patrimonio arquitectónico nacional que invita a admirarlo desde afuera y desde adentro de martes a viernes de 9.00 a 19.00 y los domingos de 10.00 a 17.00.
There is another part of the Cabildo worth exploring, especially now that the national cinema scene is booming. The movie and video theater, Alma Paraguaya, contains the memories of film production in the country, with rolls of film and posters of memorable productions like “El trueno entre las hojas” (Thunder among the leaves). The name of this site is a tribute to the first audiovisual production made by Paraguayans, which portrayed the pilgrimage to Caacupé. The Cabildo is an emblem of national architectural heritage that invites the visitor to admire it from the outside as well as the inside from Tuesday to Friday from 9.00 to 19.00 and Sunday from 10.00 to 17.00.

on el propósito de impulsar el desarrollo turístico del Paraguay y la región, nace en 2004, Intur. Ocho años después, el grupo integrado por Natalia Galeano está cada vez más cerca de cumplir un sueño: la creación de un observatorio turístico que permita compartir experiencias de desarrollo desde Paraguay para América Latina. Entre tanto, el grupo lleva a cabo acciones de rescate cultural como Asunción Circuitos Culturales, proyecto creado en respuesta a la necesidad de buscar alternativas para la dinamización de la ciudad, y seleccionado por la Secretaría Nacional de Cultura en el marco de los festejos del Bicenterario (2011). «Trabajamos en el diseño de cinco itinerarios y potenciales productos, orientados a generar una mejor conectividad de espacios turísticos y culturales del microcentro y alrededores. Durante un año y medio hemos realizado investigaciones y evaluaciones de los circuitos pilotos, y cada vez estamos más convencidos de que es posible lograr que el centro se convierta en un polo de innovación turística y cultural, tomando como ejes la historia, nuestra memoria y la naturaleza», considera Natalia, quien confía en el poder colectivo para alcanzar metas: «Sin duda alguna, la gente y la creatividad nacional son los pilares fundamentales para ir sentando las bases del Turismo en Paraguay».

ntur was founded in 2004, in order to promote the development of tourism in Paraguay and the region. Eight years later, the group Natalia Galeano is part of are ever closer to fulfilling a dream: the creation of a tourism observatory for sharing development experiences from Paraguay to Latin America. Meanwhile, the group carries out cultural rescue operations such as the Asunción Circuitos Culturales (Asunción Cultural Tours) project, created in response to the need to find alternatives for the revitalization of the city, and selected by the National Secretariat of Culture as part of the celebrations of the Bicentenary (2011). «We worked on the design of five routes and potential products, designed to generate better connectivity of tourist and cultural spaces downtown and in surrounding areas. For a year and a half we have conducted research and evaluation of pilot circuits, and we are increasingly convinced that it is possible that the center will become a hub of touristic and cultural innovation, with the central theme being our history, memories and nature», believes Natalia, who trusts in the power of the collective to achieve goals: «No doubt, people and national creativity are the pillars to laying the foundations of Tourism in Paraguay».

La sala/museo denominada Los Goya del Paraguay, fue armada en reconocimiento a uno de los artistas más significativos de la historia universal: Francisco de Goya y Lucientes. Exhibe cuatro grandes series de grabados: Los Caprichos, Los Desastres de la Guerra, La Tauromaquia y Los Disparates. Esta muestra presenta un lote de 33 piezas originales que representan a cada una de las series. La colección pertenece al acervo del Centro de Artes Visuales / Museo del Barro. La misma fue expuesta de manera completa en un ciclo de muestras itinerantes llevadas a cabo en ciudades como San Lorenzo, Pedro Juan Caballero, Concepción, Ciudad del Este y Asunción, entre setiembre y diciembre del 2001.
The room/museum called The Goya of Paraguay, was assembled in recognition of one of the most significant artists of world history: Francisco de Goya y Lucientes. On display are four great series of etchings: Los Caprichos, Los Desastres de la Guerra, La Tauromaquia y Los Disparates. This exhibition presents a batch of 33 original pieces representing each of the series. The collection belongs to the body of the Visual Arts Center / Museo del Barro. It took part in a roadshow held in cities such as San Lorenzo, Pedro Juan Caballero, Concepción, Asunción and Ciudad del Este, between September and December 2001.

A pesar de las variaciones que se dieron en las últimas décadas la Navidad paraguaya conserva su esencia tradicional. Despite the changes that have occurred in the last decades, the Paraguayan Christmas retains its traditional essence.
Una fecha para recordar y reunirse con la familia. La Navidad es ese momento en que el mundo se dispone a celebrar el nacimiento del Niño Dios. Cada una de las culturas alrededor del mundo cuentan con sus ritos propios con el que se disponen a rendir tributo a la llegada del Jesús. En Paraguay esta tradición se encuentra fuertemente arraigada en las costumbres de la población que se mantienen a pesar de los cambios experimentados en las últimas décadas. En los hogares, los preparativos para la Nochebuena son intensos. Desde la mañana del 24 se realizan las compras para lo que será la cena de esa noche. Chipa guasu, carne asada, la sopa paraguaya, ensaladas, entre otros, son los platos con los cuales los comensales se reúnen a esperar las 12 de la noche. Esta espera es

Every culture around the world has its own rites with which it pays tribute to the birth of Jesus. In Paraguay, this tradition is deeply rooted in the habits of the population that remain, despite the changes in recent decades. At home, preparations for Christmas are intense. From the morning of the 24th they shop for the evening dinner. Chipa Guasu, grilled beef, Sopa Paraguaya and salads among others dishes, which will see the diners through until midnight. This waiting is accompanied by cider or clericó, a preparation made from fruit, wine and soft drinks. In many homes in the countryside, these

Su colección permanente está compuesta de casi un centenar de imágenes religiosas paraguayas, correspondientes a los siglos XVII y XVIII. Cada una de ellas posee un incalculable valor artístico e histórico. El museo cuenta además con una vasta librería, una tienda de merchandising y un café bar. This permanent collection constitutes almost 100 religious images from Paraguay corresponding to the 17th and 18th centuries. Every artifact is artistically and historically priceless. The museum also houses a bookstore, a store selling merchandising and a coffee bar.
Es la antigua sede del Cabildo y Parlamento Nacional, convertida en museo. Ofrece permanentes muestras de arte contemporáneo, de arte plumario y de fotografía. En sus salas de exposiciones temporales, auditorios y biblioteca, se desarrollan programas y proyectos culturales de difusión de las creaciones de artistas contemporáneos nacionales e internacionales. La colección del Palacio está determinada por la secuencia cronológica de las formas de Gobierno que consolidaron la Independencia del Paraguay, desde 1811 al 2011. Debido a su condición de sede presidencial, tiene estrictas medidas de seguridad y está prohibido el ingreso con cámaras fotográficas o filmadoras. The Palace collection is determined by the chronological sequence of the forms of Government that consolidated the Independence of Paraguay from 1811 to 2011. Due to its role as the Presidential Palace, strict security measures are in place, and it is forbidden to enter with cameras or video cameras.
Creado en 1985, alberga alrededor de 1.300 objetos históricos. Parte de su acervo tiene origen en la colección personal de Juan Sinforiano Bogarín, el primer arzobispo del Paraguay. El mismo inició esta colección recogiendo documentos históricos, a los que luego se fueron agregando otros objetos cedidos o donados. Created in 1985, it houses around 1,300 historic objects. Conserva invaluables piezas del arte universal del siglo XVII y comienzo del XX, además de arte paraguayo del siglo XIX y mediados del XX. Entre los objetos que guarda se encuentran monedas antiguas, muebles y variados objetos que pertenecieron a su creador, Juan Silvano Godoy. It houses invaluable pieces of art from the 17th century and beginnings of the 20th century, as well as Paraguayan art from the 19th and 20th centuries. Among the objects are antique coins, furniture and various objects that belonged to the creator, Juan Silvano Godoy.
Se encuentra en la colina más elevada del barrio Trinidad, de frente a la que fuera vivienda del primer Presidente Constitucional del Paraguay, Don Carlos Antonio López. En su interior se conservan retablos del periodo franciscano e imágenes de tamaño natural, que adquieren gran expresividad durante las fiestas de Semana Santa. Es un sitio de referencia en el circuito histórico asunceno y nacional, debido a que los principales protagonistas de la independencia del Paraguay (1811), usaron esta casa como sede de sus reuniones secretas. En ella se atesoran documentos y objetos históricos, además de mobiliarios, indumentaria, pinturas, retratos, y varios utensilios de la época.
La construcción de este templo de estilo romano se inició en 1893 y estuvo a cargo del arquitecto italiano Juan Colombo. Declarado Monumento Histórico Nacional, también se convirtió en hospital de sangre durante la Guerra del Chaco (1932-1935). Además de su peculiar estilo arquitectónico, es la única iglesia del país que cuenta con un órgano de tubos.
A cornerstone of the historical circuit around Asuncion and Paraguay, as the protagonists of the independence of Paraguay (1811) used the house as the venue of their secret meetings. Exhibited within are historical objects and documents, as well as furniture, clothing, paintings, portraits and various utensils from the era.
The construction of this roman style temple began in 1893 and was under the charge of Juan Colombo. Declared a National Historic Monument, it was also used as a field hospital during the Chaco War (1932-1935). Apart from its unusual architectural style, it is the only church in Paraguay with a pipe organ.

En dos niveles conectados por una rampa, es posible contemplar trofeos, camisetas y otros objetos históricos, y ver una película en 360 grados sobre los orígenes del futbol y su evolución en América del Sur. The whole history of south american soccer and its characters are concentrated in this 1.5 square km museum. On two floors, connected by a ramp, the visitor has the chance to view the trophies, jerseys and other historic objects, and watch a 360 degree movie about the origins of soccer and its evolution in South America.
Diseñado por el uruguayo Carlos Zucchi, este monumento histórico de estilo neoclásico está compuesto de tres naves divididas por una fila de arcos, además de las tres campanas que forman las torres del campanario. En 2009 fue escogida por la Organización Capital Americana de la Cultura como el cuarto tesoro del Patrimonio Cultural Material de Asunción. Designed by the Uruguayan Carlos Zucchi, neoclassic style historic monument is made up of three naves divided by a row of arches, as well as three bells that form the bell tower. Mientras el viajero se dirige a Caacupé, los cerros que se yerguen en el horizonte sobre una alfombra verde ya invitan a relajarse. Y en la cima del cerro homónimo, un poco antes de completar los 54 kilómetros que separan a la capital, Cordillera, de Asunción, se puede disfrutar de una magnífica postal: la imponente belleza del lago Ypacaraí. Caacupé es una ciudad que nació con la leyenda de promesa del indio José y que desde su fundación oficial, el 4 de abril de 1770, fue creciendo para convertirse en una de las principales del país. Hoy en día con casi 50.000 habitantes, Caacupé cuenta con fábricas de coco, industrias de dulces y chipas, envasadoras de agua mineral, talleres que trabajan en cuero, y es un sitio importante del movimiento agrícola y ganadero. Además de la actividad comercial, el turismo es otra fuente de ingresos siendo la principal la festividad del 8 de diciembre en honor a la Virgen de los Milagros de Caacupé, celebración que atrae a cientos de miles de paraguayos, convirtiéndose en epicentro de la fe. A ello se suman sus balnearios y atractivos naturales como el cerro Kavaju. Y en los últimos años el carnaval es otra actividad que atrae a personas de distintos puntos del país.
While the traveler heads towards Caacupé, the hills that rise on the horizon surrounded by a carpet of green invite you to relax. And on top of the hill of the same name, just before completing the 54 km that separate the capital of Cordillera and Asuncion, you can enjoy a magnificent panorama: The stunning beauty of Lake Ypacaraí. Caacupé is a city that was born with the legend of a promise by the Indian Joseph and since its official founding on April 4, 1770, has grown to become one of the largest in the country. Today Caacupé has nearly 50,000 inhabitants, coconut factories chipa and candy industries, mineral water bottling, leather shops, and is a major site of agricultural and livestock movement. In addition to commercial activity, tourism is another source of income, the most important event being the festivities of December 8 in honor of the Virgin of the Miracles of Caacupé. This celebration attracts hundreds of thousands of Paraguayans, turning into an epicenter of faith. To this is you can add its spas and natural attractions such as Mount Kavaju. And in recent years, the carnival has become another attraction to people from across the country.

La joya del Uruguay. Punta del Este es la fantasía de muchos. Y más aún en verano. El paradisiaco sitio ofrece a los turistas arenas blancas, aguas azules, médanos, islas, lagunas, sierras y bosques que se mezclan con una variada y lujosa arquitectura. Del 21 de diciembre al 20 de marzo, la costa uruguaya recibe a unos 400.000 visitantes que disfrutan de fiestas, importantes desfiles de modas con participación de renombradas modelos internacionales, y grandes conciertos. A esta oferta turística se suman exposiciones de arte, espectáculos de teatro, salas de cine, entre otros atractivos que incluyen una importante infraestructura hotelera. La diversión nocturna tiene como atractivo cientos de restaurantes, pubs, boliches y discos para grupos de todas las edades que deseen disfrutar de la movida. La costa invita a recorrer más de 40 kilómetros de playas aisladas, nudistas e incluso despobladas. Pero Punta del Este no es solamente verano. En invierno, la ciudad de Maldonado cuenta con una intensa agenda cultural, y entre julio y noviembre a pocos metros de la costa se puede observar un espectáculo único: la llegada de la ballena austral.
