Selected seventh in the A-R-C Preseason Poll, the Storm open their season with a wealth of returning production. Fifth-year senior and twotime all-conference performer Chris Honz is back after averaging 10.1 points and just over six rebounds per game. Also returning for the Storm is senior guard Andrew Curran, who was the team’s leading overall scorer last season, pouring in 266 points for an average of 11.6 per game.
THE EAGLES
The Eagles also open their season in today’s contest, led by head coach Brian Fincham in his 16th season. The Eagles also return a solid core of players, including second team all-region guard Jayce Goergen, who averaged double digits in each of his first three seasons. Jared Pearson was the team’s leading scorer last season, averaging 15.4 points per game, while also grabbing over six rebounds per game.
LAST TIME THEY MET
The two teams squared off last November in Cowles Fieldhouse, with Simpson claiming a 101-64 victory. Caden Rehmeier scored 24 points to led the Storm who had 11 eleven different players get into the scoring and rebounding columns. Trent Williamson (14), Andrew Curran (13), Jack Hutchinson (12) and Buck Eagleburger (10) all reached double-digit scoring in the victory as well.
