ROUND ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE Sited on the most northerly isle of Scilly, Round Island Lighthouse was built by William Tregarthen Douglass. Completed in 1887, it was one of three lighthouses on the archipelago at the time, the others being on Bishop Rock and St. Agnes. Standing 19 metres high, the lighthouse was modernised in 1966 and automated in 1987. The only access, aside from a helicopter, is by a flight of steps cut into the solid rock.
