This North Leeds four piece, who formed in 2010, are intent on producing well crafted songs driven by a thumping rhythm section, soul drenched vocals, and melodic guitars. The sound is light hearted and high spirited indie-rock and disco-soul.

Galaxians

Their debut vinyl release - a 12 split with fellow Leeds dance act Runners on new dance label Stargaze - sold out within two months of its October 2012 Wrelease, gaining praise from US dance labels Dither Down (NY) and Rotating Souls (Atlanta), and NY DJ Lloydski (Dither Down). Their first batch of songs - released as a self-titled mini-album on Bandcamp - has been selling steadily since it first appeared in late 2012.

Taking their cues from early 80s NY labels such as SAM, Are ‘n’ Bee, Sleeping Bag and post-disco producers such as Leroy Burgess and John Morales, Galaxians fuse classic Roland TR analog drum machine sounds with acoustic drums and synthesizers played live, always placing the soulful unpredictability of the human hand and heart at the forefront of their live shows. Since early 2012 they have been moving crowds consistently up and down the UK with their raw, soulful, exciting mix of proto-house, post-disco and boogiefunk.

Just Handshakes

Some four years back Just Handshakes made a big impression after forming in university and being picked up by Owl Records. They’re about to release of their debut full-length, they now sport a sound free of distracting quirks and full of glorious, sun-drenched escapist pop.

You’ll hear C86 and Fear of Men when you hear new song ‘London Bound’. Of course you will. But Just Handshakes also sport that little something extra, hard to pin down but entirely intoxicating when you sit back and listen.

Mahogany Hand Glider

Mahogany Hand Glider are a four piece post-rock outfit that formed in 2010, having met through the Leeds College of Music where they all attend and study. They each come from different parts of the country and have a combined an eclectic musical taste which is heard through the music they make. The musical styles they encompass ranges from rock, hip-hop and electronic music and their influences consist of The Mars Volta, Colour, Toe, The Strokes, Radiohead, Bonobo and Cinematic Orchestra to name but a few. They have quite a math-y element and enjoy playing around with different and odd time signatures. 11
