Actualmente encabeza una organización dedicada a impulsar la equidad de género y dar visibilidad a las mujeres especialistas que han contribuido al desarrollo de la industria minera. Ana María González Herrera, president of Mujeres WIM de México, has walked a path through areas different from mining, from library science to education, before joining the sector, where she found a profession and a way of life. ada día hay más mujeres que resaltan en el sector minero. Tan sólo en el 2019 había un 5.6% más de participación femenina en comparación con el 2018. Además, organizaciones sin fines de lucro han unido esfuerzos para crear redes de apoyo donde las mujeres compartan sus experiencias y aprendizajes.
