HAMAMATSU Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. started as a small firm established in 1953 by Heihachiro Horiuchi who studied under the guidance of Dr. Kenjiro Takayanagi now respectfully called the “father of Japanese television.” Since then, Hamamatsu has inherited the “photoelectric technology” developed by Dr. Takayanagi for converting light into electrical signals as well as “the spirit of pursuing unknown and unexplored realms” which led him to the achievement of displaying the Japanese character “ ” on a cathode-ray tube for the first time in the world.

NANO PHOTON Nano Photon, a company of scientists, was founded in 2003 by Satoshi Kawata and his colleagues. It was more than 20 years after he was inspired to see professors and students start up small companies from their garages in California, where he was a postdoc. Satoshi Kawata has been known as the inventor of two-photon 3D nano-lithography, tip-enhanced near-field microscopy, and many others. Nanophoton products are all far from conventional. They have developed a Raman scattering microscope, which no one believed was possible to develop. Nanophoton's Raman microscope, extremely week scattering light called as Raman scattering, which is found in between Rayleigh scattering and fluorescence in a spectrum, is collected from an extremely small space of tiny sample, and undergoes color separation and spatial imaging. Since Nanophoton’s original microscope, RAMAN touch, detects Raman spectra at hundreds of points simultaneously, the image is obtained in a few hundredths of the time normally required.
